(Curtain Call Single Cover)This year has been a very successful year for Tisha Jackson, the first couple of singles off her album debut in the Top 3 on the Digital Charts. Her album Reveal started off a bit rocky but claimed it’s throne eventually with over 5 million copies being sold worldwide (the album also peaked at No.2 on the Heat Top 40 charts). But with 4 singles being released from Reveal many people are wondering what’s next due to no new announcements on a new single. But Tisha has finally revealed that the 5th single off Reveal will be, Curtain Call.
Curtain Call is the last cut off the album. The track is very R&B with a lot of Jazz elements infused. This isn’t the first time Tisha has infused Jazz in her music; she has done so with previous albums as well. The track is narrated from Tisha’s (“The Girlfriends”) P.O.V, and it focuses on a couple, however Tisha is fed up of her man treating her wrong and coming in all kinds of hours of the night. The track is like a “One Woman Show” in a way with Tisha illustrating her P.O.V and her boyfriend’s perspective as well.
Tisha: “This has to be one of my favorite tracks that I have ever written. I listen to this track and I become in awww. Not in a cocky obsessed with my material kind of way, but I become in awww of how the track just illustrates the downfall of a couple and tells the story from beginning to end. It’s just real fun, but it is a serious track as well. It’s just really funny. Every single off Reveal has been really fast and I wanted to slow things down. I AM NO WHERE CLOSE TO FINISHING THIS REVEAL ERA, and I have a lot more in store and more singles to be released so my fans won’t have to worry about that. This is a song that my fans were dying for me to make a single so I am really excited to shoot the video for this and I hope everyone loves it.
The cover of the single is meant to reflect the song. It references, Waiting To Exhale the 1995 film starring, Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett (photo’d on the cover). The cover of for the Curtain Call Single is a still from the film, when Angela Bassett’s character, Bernie is fed up with her husband because of his infidelity and him leaving her for a white woman. She eventually has a breakdown goes into his closet and takes all his clothes and prized possessions out of their and empty them into his car. She drives the car into the front yard, lights herself a cigarette and then burns all his possessions in the car. The scene has become a pop culture classic and Tisha choose that as the cover to represent the pain that her boyfriend illustrated in the song brings her and to represent how both parties can hurt each other as well.
Tisha: “I LOOOVE THE SINGLE COVER. We were going to use a picture from the Reveal album cover booklet or a still from the video which we plan to shoot. But then I thought about Waiting to Exhale and the scene where Angela Bassett burns all her of husbands clothes. And that scene represents every woman’s struggle to me. The struggle of trying to make a man feel loved and him not loving you the same way. It’s just a struggle women go through and this film represents that struggle and a woman’s road to empowerment and Curtain Call does as well. However, with the song and the video for the song we plan on updating things because on the track the song tries not to male bash but in steads puts a perspective to both the woman and man’s P.O.V of their relationship and the beginning of their relationship, the rise in action, the climax/downfall, and the conclusion of the relationship. The song just sums it all up in a 21st century kind of way but I just wanted to do that with paying tribute to a film that was so groundbreaking.”
The video for “Curtain Call” is expected to be shot in New York City around January 3rd. Tisha has tapped Diane Martel to direct the video. This is the first time the two have worked together. A mystery guy is set to play Tisha’s love interest, EVERYONE KNOW’S HIM BUT IT HAS BEEN KEPT SECRET until further notice.
