The third album by Giselle is out today in stores worldwide, and is a followup to her successful album "Distorted Perception". Like that album, "Robot Lover" is a concept album about our dependency on technology and its effects on society. Giselle was inspired by social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, and sites like Google. During her little hiatus she was observing the world, and discovered how addicted we are to technology. A day with no internet and the world will panic, we are a now society, who wants the latest and greatest and everything at their fingertips. The album is more experimental in sound than her last album. Sonically it has a more "unrefined" sound than her past works, taking use of distorted sounds. The albums also samples robotic sounds, dial-up tones, and other computer noises.

Genres: Pop, dance, experimental, noise pop
Release: January 9 (iTunes), January 10 (Worldwide)
Producer: Sofia Giselle Ferreira, Contr0v3sy, Fernando Garibay

1. Welcome to the Digital Age (Instrumental)- 1:25

The opener to the album starts off with the sound of a dial-up tone, and progresses into an electro house tune. Giselle wanted the album to start with an instrumental track, because she thought it will perfectly set the mood for the album. She also believed that the song summarizes the whole album.

Sounds Like

2. Android - 3:37

The first single off the album, that got everyone talking. The song samples the vocals of the song "Satisfaction" by Benny Benassi, creating a infectiously catchy song. Giselle wrote the song about peoples need for instant gratification. This may mean emotionally or sexually through the use of technology. This gratification is given by a human-like android, who does everything you want it to.

Samples the vocals

3. I Need Love - 4:55

The song slows down the pace of the album with this mid-tempo song. "I Need Love" is a noise pop song about the need for love and relationship. Giselle goes on to sing that everyone needs love, everyone wants someone to hold. The song may come off to everyone as the most mainstream of all songs on the album, but it’s the one song that everyone at some point feels. Giselle's voice is slightly distorted to perfect the song. In the chorus, Giselle uses a guitar amp for her voice. Prince also inspired her for the song.

4. Breaking Point – 5:05

“Breaking Point” is a mid-tempo rock/pop ballad about moving on from a relationship. The song has slight soul and Motown influences. The song was written after a bad breakup Giselle had, and how she lingered on the past, hoping he would come back. Giselle has stated its one of her favourites and most personal on the album.

5. Turn Me On – 2:55

The album begins to pick up pace, and continues where “Android” left off. The song is about media consumption, and societies move into the information age. Giselle wrote the song after being tired of the increasing commercialism of the world, and being bombarded with useless information. The track is an electro-pop song, with a synthesized keyboard rift before the bridge.

6. Gossip (Have You Heard?) – 4:33

A diss track at the media, especially tabloids and paparazzi. The song is the negative side of fame, and how the thing that brought you up, is now set to bring you down. Giselle wrote the song after hearing ridiculous rumors about her in the tabloids, and once being stalked by a paparazzo. The track has snippets of people saying “Have you heard?...” followed by the rumor, the song ends with a reporter telling the news about a dumb rumor about Giselle.

7. Artificial Heart – 3:56

The song is about heart that’s emotionally cold and ignorant, it’s about cyber bulling and its need to end. Giselle wrote the song after hearing so many stories of teens committing suicide due to cyber bullying. Especially one report of a girl was still being bullied after her death on Facebook. The track is an acoustic pop/folk song, with just a guitar and piano.

8. Delete – 3:06

This track is about wishing to delete a memory or regret. Giselle said, “We all have bad memories of things that happened, or regrets we wish we can forget or do over. I know I do. However, sometimes I re-think that and say; every bad thing that has happened in my life has shaped me into what I’ve become. So I appreciate it, and that’s what I want everyone to do”

9. Activate (Instrumental) - :45

A progressive house instrumental, with various clips from films and other media outlets with sounds of robots, tv and radio static.

10. That Was Then (This Is Now) – 2:47

An odd track combining noise track and dubstep. The song is about people complaining about her new look and sound. Giselle fights back saying this her nothing has changed, and it’s just an re-invention of her sound and progression. The song features distorted guitars and vocals, and a dubstep break in the middle.

11. My Generation – 4:56

Fully inspired by the power of social networking and protests. After seeing Facebook and Twitter change the way people communicate and how it can cause people to rise up and fight against oppression was amazing to Giselle. She said, “You know that is amazing how Facebook has done something like that, especially in the Middle East. These people grouped upped and took down their oppressive leaders and I applaud them for that. My generation seems to be standing up for causes they believe in, and with the help of Facebook and Twitter, there’s no telling what we do next, but I hope it’s for the good”.

12. Y.O.L.O – 3:20

Y.O.L.O. short for “You Only Live Once” is a phrase Giselle lives by. It’s a song about not caring about what people think and just being yourself. It’s about having fun, and living everyday like it’s your last. “I think people are afraid, afraid of being who they are, people care too much about what others think of them. Which is why they live a life that others want them to live. That doesn’t lead to happiness, because on your deathbed, you will regret not being you, not having fun, not living life to the fullest”.
Sounds Similar to

13. Born Free (M.I.A. Cover) – 4:15

“Born Free” is one of Giselle’s favourite songs. After hearing one day, she decided to do a cover of it, to include it in the album. Giselle felt it fitted perfectly with the album.
Covers this song.

14. New Age - 1:40

A short track, about a new era for humanity. It was based on a dream Giselle had, about a time where humans will have no grasp on reality, we have become what we never wanted to be. The government controls people, and humans have been genetically modified to be a perfect race.

15. Digital Love (feat. Dominic Brown) – 3:50

Giselle wrote the song, and felt it needed a male vocal. Giselle has met Dominic Brown a few times and always wanted to do a song with him, after speaking with him about the song, he was up for it. The two recorded the song, and many fans have noted the vocal chemistry the two had. The track is up to be the second single due to be released next week. The song is an electro-pop song, with a pulsating bassline. It’s about a long distance relationship that manages to survive over the internet.

16. Innovation of the Mind (Prelude) - :38

It’s an orchestrated instrumental of the next track “Innovation of the Mind”.

17. Innovation of the Mind / Welcome to the Digital Age (Reprise) – 8:04

The song is about mans progression from the 20th to 21st century. It’s a space rock song, with vocal samples through the greatest moments in history in chronological order. Giselle sings about how innovation is an essential part of mankind, and how we as a people need to move forward.
Contain these samples…

  • -"The first words I spoke in the original phonograph: "Mary had a little lamb, It's fleece was white as snow. And everywhere that Mary went, The lamb was sure to go." - Thomas Edison

  • -"...urging the people to evacuate the city as Martians approach." - The War of the Worlds radio broadcast

  • -"The world will note that the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima" - Harry Truman

  • -"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." - Neil Armstrong first setting foot on the Moon during Apollo 11

  • -Space Shuttle Challenger disaster
*"Liftoff of the 25th Space Shuttle Mission, and it has cleared the tower." - Hugh Harris, television reporter
*"Roger roll, Challenger." - Dick Covey, Mission Control
*We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye, and slipped the surly bonds of Earth to touch the face of God." - Ronald Reagan

  • -"Welcome. You've got mail!” - the voice of AOL

  • -An iPod, a phone, an internet mobile communicator... these are NOT three separate devices! And we are calling it iPhone! Today Apple is going to reinvent the phone. And here it is. - Steve Jobs

  • - “We knew the world would not be the same. Few people laughed, few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that, one way or another” - J. Robert Oppenheimer

J. Robert Oppenheimer, one of the quotes sampled.

Paul: Really good actually, I didn't think I was going to like it but the inclusion of the Oppenheimer quotes and the overall atmosphere sold me on it. Consider it bought.

Stephanie Fierce: I really enjoyed what you did with this whole album. It's not just typical futuristic stuff, you really went out your way to make sure it was something new and innovative. My respect for you also grew when you covered M.I.A.'s "Born Free". Amazing album :)
