Get 6.92Mb/s download & 0.32Mb/s upload here. Which isn't too bad considering how rural this part of the world is.

Yeah, but then some countries like Sweden & South Korea dump on the UK where the average speed is about 11.87Mbps. Sweden has 24Mbps average & S.Korea blows the mind with 31.17Mbps. It's all relative really, like almost all of the UK has an ADSL connection now, it's just the really rural areas that are too far away from exchanges who cannot get it.

Well a good chunk of Perth is stuck on what you can barely call ADSL, at about 512kbps.

Hey, this is a question for the people here who've read parts of A Song of Ice and Fire:

Would you recommend it? I know a lot of people have, but if you were to draw comparisons to it, what would you compare it to? I've been looking for a new book series and it looks like the new 'John Dies at the End' novel doesn't come out until later this year and besides scripts or the occasional 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' novel, I feel as if I should read more.

A Song of Ice and Fire series is like a historical fiction work. It feels, at least at the beginning of Game of Thrones like it could be a medieval political thriller set in France or England as much as in Westeros. But it as more fantastical elements. I'd recommend reading A Game of Thrones & seeing what you think of it, but I can't honestly imagine reading it & then not wanting more & more. I read all of the books George Martin has put out in that series in about 2 months, found them extremely captivating.

Yeah, I just have this way of hating very popular books. I got a Harry Potter book when I was around 14 and stopped. Hated Lord of the Flies and I don't even want to talk about MacBeth. So hopefully 'A Song of Ice and Fire' will be intriguing enough for me to not drop it.

I would recommend it, though I might recommend you watch the show's first season first. It helps you remember names, and there are a TON of names and people in these books. I'm about half way through the 3rd one now, which puts me at almost 2500 pages. Still, I'm reading happily.

I finally made it through the prologue of the first one after three previous attempts. I know it's way too early to be making judgements, but there is something about his writing style I find slightly off-putting and I cannot put my finger on what it is. Chances are that's just because I haven't gotten into it properly yet, but that is why it's taken me so long to even get past the prologue, and it's not even that long. I'll make a proper go of it once I finish Dune.

Just watching the birth of 'The Gracie Hunter'. Pride FC 8, November 1999, Kazushi Sakuraba, a former pro-wrestler, against Royler Gracie, the smallest but technically most sound of the Gracie family. Royler has had his legs tenderized with utterly brutal kicks, I wonder if he can even stand up at this point, he's basically getting Sakuraba to come fight him on the ground. Such a terrific & exciting dude to watch, I may be 13 years late to the party but Sakuraba is quickly becoming my favourite MMA fighter. Never a boring fight with him, & the Japanese fans go mad for him.

I'm a bit of an El Guapo fan myself. Other than he, watching Rashad Evans fights is a great time-passer.

Oh yes. Oooooooooh yes. Bas Rutten is terrific. Especially as a commentator. The lines he comes out with in Pride are just brilliant, he goes & tells wee stories, it's hysterical. Like the time a Japanese journalist asked him if legkicks really hurt, so he smacked him in the leg & the wee Japanese lad couldn't get back up. But it was OK, because he was a friend.

He's a hoot a minute.

Did you buy Applecare? Did you take it to the local Apple store to consult the geniuses?

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Sorry, not laughing at you, laughing at Apple.

I phoned them up. They did say I should consult their geniuses at my local Apple store. I pointed out that I was not travelling 100 miles to my local Apple store. So at the moment I'm left contemplating: send off for repairs, which judging by the problem (the thing is clicking. It sounds like the hard drive is rogered.) will mean a replacement. Which they quoted me at £95. A replacement would be £180 so that's not an option. Or alternatively I might say to hell with it for the short-term and get a much smaller device, just something so I can at least listen to my podcasts and have a few albums on there. I haven't quite decided yet. I guess I'll look at prices for 10-20GB devices.

Well, I per-ordered Twisted Metal. I'm not positive it's going to be a great game, but me and my dad used to play the old one's all the time together so there is a lot of nostalgia, and it also just happens to come out on my birth day....here's hoping I'm not wasting 60 bucks.

Well, I was angry with the iPod breaking, and then me missing a bus, but hey. I then found this video of a Muppet Barber Shop Quartet doing Smells Like Teen Spirit and boy I'm grinning now. So it'd be remiss for me to not share this with you all

You are lucky. Luckier than a 4-leaf clover. I envy you, wait, are you in a band?

@ForkBoy;
Every once and now I'm convinced that Bas Rutten is either insane or understands the world better than we ever can. I'm sure it's the latter.
