I know a lot of people write lyrics for their Roleplays, and I know there are also people here who are in bands or are musicians who write songs, so why not have a page to post our lyrics to be judged eh? I'll start with a song I wrote last week while laying on my living room couch. It all came in about 5 minutes. -Verse One-
Heart of Ice, frozen over
Watch out for them fields of clover
A rose looks good beneath the Summer sun
but Winter my friend is bound to come
The leaves turn brown and the waters will freeze
and the birds fly south with the summers breeze
So carry a candle in the light of the day
and try to stay warm as the sky turns grey
The clouds spill snow and sleet and rain,
it reminds you of last Autumns pain
-Chorus-
Well life is cold and your heart will freeze
Try to remember inside you're free
Don't worry about tomorrow
Your time today is already borrowed
-Verse Two-
It fills your eyes with a teardrop still
The years go by and over the hill
Winters will come and Summers will go
You stay strong and you go with the flow
Friends always are, and friends will be
But you'll be more than they will ever see
Cause you'll see right when they do wrong
and it all goes down in you're book of psalms
So heart of ice, melted down
You've see it all and you've been around

Seems convincingly song-like. I can't seem to write in structures like that, it all tends to be a bit more free-form for me. LIGHTER THAN ÆTHER
a) Lead & Antimony
I carry my guilt and I carry my fear
But they're not lighter than æther
They're heavier than lead & antimony
b) Lighter Than Æther
Somewhere out of the Earth
Out of time and out of mind
Out of the waters of creation
A shroud, a cloak of holes
The moth-eaten tapestry of night

And yet, still lighter than æther
c) Antimony & Lead
All of the things
I wish I could say
Piling on top of me
These thoughts
Weigh upon me
Heavy like
Antimony & lead
The effortless glow
Emanating from you
Lighter than æther
Knocks me to my knees
A sound sweeter than life
A sound stronger than love
Carrying lions into the sun
Carrying lions into the sea
A green stone that
Binds you to this Earth
Your bright eyes pointing
Ever to some far horizon
Where you must go
You relieved me of my burdens
And made my heart lighter than æther |

Ahh, free form songwriter. Lol, I find that usually people can best write in the styles that their favorite artists do. I listen to a lot of folk and old country gospel stuff, so that brings about the structures I generally use. I'm guessing that the artists you listen too probably write in free-form. Here is something I wrote this morning, that may or not may not be a song. Broken cities and dying towns,if you need me I'll be under ground
The King is missing and he's hiding away, he's safe for now but his death awaits
The people run scared and poor, searching for an unlocked door
But no help will come to them, they remain the nations whore
Old men with aching bones, sit upon their broken thrones
But from the sky will rain a vengeance, and they've all been forewarned
There's fire in the clouds! And the buildings burn.
Make your way through the crowds, they claim that it's your turn.
The waters wash out the rot, but look how much of it we have got.
The flame is small but it burns hot, and I promise I have not forgot.
The day when your soul cried out, "don't leave me behind!"
I turned and made a vow, now shut up and stay in line!
We'll storm the gates and tear them down
Stay beside me and we're victory bound.
Those armored soldiers mean nothing in war
Their shields are shattered, they won't fight no more.
It only takes just a few more men,
The price is high but we'll get the win.
There's fire in the sky! And the forest's burn.
Stay down below, it's not your turn.
They took your lives and placed a bet,

Thanks. I'm having problems putting them to music though, my limited guitar ability is starting to stretch my melodies thin. I'll figure it out eventually, usually happens by accident.
