Basically the above, does anyone now? Whats the actual medical reason for it? |

There is no conclusive evidence on the concious and unconcious brain but to my best understanding the reason for it is a safety machanism of sorts. Concious, the brain has constant activity - for instance sight or hearing. Unconcious the brain does not undergo this activity (or at least it does but in a significantly smaller amount). Now using pain as an example. By [temporarily] shutting down, the brain is healing better and you are not feeling the sensation of intense pain. There is then less of a risk of the body being permanently damaged as the nervous system has been "shut down". It's like the longer your nervous system must put up with this stimulant (in this case pain) then the more likely it is to recieve permanent damage.

What the guy trying to type on an iPhone said...the brain basically has short circuted from the trauma so as a means to cope it sort of shuts down, hence you pass out. Simple version |
