Album Cover

Stephanie Fierce wanted the album cover to be done at her happiest moment. In order to make this possible, Steph carried a camera along with her and at the moment when she felt the happiest, she took a picture with birds coincidentally bracing over the cover.

"I wanted the cover to look like something you take with a phone camera. I didn't put too much thought into and it turned out perfectly like I wanted it to be" - Stephanie Fierce

"Life's Good" is the sixth studio album by American recording artist, songwriter and producer Stephanie Fierce. The album is set to be released worldwide on January 29, 2012 through Liberation/Nomad Records. The album's concept represents a retrospective good feeling someone has when they have reached the pinnacle of their life. The album embraces genes of country, rock and soul music. A much brighter tone indeed than her previous effort "Free" which explored the perverseness, tricky psychology and sickness of our minds. Life's Good however shares the same artistic approach and is considered to be set in the tone of a rebellious person. Stephanie Fierce took to Johnny Johnson and many others to compose the album in the aftermath of cancelling her "Queen of Pop Era" album, which was set to be released with Black Cat Records. Despite the country sound dominating nearly the entire album, fans could be assured that it will pretty much still remain a recognizable Stephanie Fierce album. If the album should be praised, it should be praised for its artistic approach and vocal arrangements.

"I guess people are expecting me to speak and sing like a hillbilly now. They are
absolutely wrong. That's not what country music is about and many people have that
misconception. Yes, the culture is important, but I was not raised as a country girl
so I'm not gonna pretend to be one." - Stephanie Fierce

Recording

Stephanie Fierce began composing material for the sixth studio album as early as August 2011. In the midst of recording a change in heart and direction occurred for the record. Steph immediately ordered a new studio to be built from scratch and nearly stored away everything she had recorded for the pop oriented album. Recording sessions and guest vocalist for the new songs involved musicians such as Ryan Ross Hernandez and Johnny Johnson. Johnny Johnson was heavily involved in composing for 'Life's Good'. Upon recording, while Country was the main sound, other genres like R&B, Blues, Soul, Psychedelic Soul, Folk, and even Rap were experimented with.

"In country music, space in the studio is very important. My ex-husband Johnny Johnson thought me that and to have in on board was definitively an honor because he knows a lot about country music that I don’t know. It made such a huge difference." - Stephanie Fierce

“Life’s Good” Background; A Look in Retrospective

Stephanie Fierce's first studio album "The Past, The Present and the Future of Pop" (A titled that first pissed a lot of pop artists within that time) explored pop sounds from the 50's, 60's, 70's and the 80's, including many electronic elements that were considered "Futuristic" at the time. The album was highly based on visuals and contemporary producers. Further down, the second studio album "Diary of a Pop Sinner", embraced not just the visual side but the independent artist in Stephanie for the very first time, pushing the boundaries amongst all pop artist by writing and producing her own songs, which at the time no one else was doing. The sound was highly inspired by the new wave pop sound in the 80's and debuted what Stephanie Fierce describes as "fierce-pop". Her 'self-titled' third studio album, which focused more on lyrical content and fourth album "Newborn", became the least commercial but one of the praised efforts to date. Both albums explored organic and acoustic instrumentation as well as many other rock genres. Her fifth studio album and latest release titled "Free" contained a more experimental approach, exploring more difficult developed genres such as indie pop-rock with atmospheric, trance and ambient elements, an album in which she solely wrote and produced, including her very own instrument; "Fierce Atmosphere".

"When I actually sat down and said I wanted a country album, everyone in the room simply spilled out their teeth that were growing from within their mouths laughing in worry. By now people should know I'm not entitled to one or two genres of music. As always with every album I make, people keep trying to have this sort of vision of what I'm going to do next. So I shocked the living ears out of them. Then I said, "no one is doing country right now, and I want take on it because it's a genre that is often misunderstood by many and I want to change that sort of view on certain people in MY personal life". It's actually much more of a personal thing than an artist thing. You'll be surprised what a profound sound country music can have with my kind of voice. You actually can't go wrong with country if you want a mature sounding album with a mature sounding voice. Yes I'm that confident not really lol but may the God voices be with me). As soon as I gave the band that extra push, all of the sudden people were Life’s Good album experts. We dove into it, and you often found us clapping, creeping, crying, through the record and it was truly magical. I am one crazy bitch that's all I can say and that's the only reason to love me. They always thank me in the end. I initially started experimenting with various guitar sounds with my own voice and that's when I though. What if Bjork and Johnny Cash decided to make an album together. HOLY FUCKING MOTHERFUCKING FUCKYITY FUCKING SHIT! Obviously that would be impossible, as Cash has passed, but what if I made that possible on this new album with my voice. Last time I checked, Stephanie Fierce and Johnny Johnson are still alive" - Stephanie Fierce

"There was a moment during the recording session that we try to convince Steph to implement Jazz into the music. All artists are doing it. We kept trying to convince her that doing something that people could familiarize with could be a good thing. The funniest thing, Stephanie Fierce said the whole recording session was that she will make a jazz album when she's 70 years old and when she herself sounds like Johnny Cash. Until then jazz can fuck off." - Anonymous

Vanity: From a crazy bitch to another crazy bitch, people need to hear this stuff. The amount of effort that has gone into this record is just something else, Steph has grown so much as an artist since her early days, and seeing her do so has been incredible. Every album is exciting, fresh and different to the previous, and not many artists can say they do that. Love you, sis!

karoliena:fantastic work. even more so that you didnt try to "be" country. country and western plays a big part in psychobilly, but i'll be damned if i am going to start pretending to be the stereotype.

erica:love the cover.it looks like it could be your last known photo....or the last thing a doughnut sees.

NEW SINGLE off "Life's Good":

UserPostedImage

Release Date: June 10, 2012
Release: Airplay
Genres: R&B, Soul

"What I love about "Keep You In a Collar" is that not only does is blend two great genres, it also brings back that southern soul feel I really enjoy but with modern rhythm. The song talks about what we women must do to keep our man. It's very quirky, but it also focuses on empowerment. I guess you can say it's an underrated gem off "Life's Good" and I spoke with the label, that way it would hopefully be release as a single." - Stephanie Fierce (Rolling Stone Mag Interview)
