Thursday February 9th 2012 Editor's Note:Hello there, or if you're reading in Spain then hello! Welcome back to CNFU! If you're back for more, then you must have enjoyed our first offering, which makes me smile like the veritable feline from a certain area of England (Cheshire...for those who couldn't work it out.) To be honest, we got a really good feedback, which sort of settled my nerves a little bit. I had been worried that people would be like, "Who's behind that? Cassie? Nah, not thanks!" But in all honesty, the reaction even I have had myself has been pretty schweet!
It feels good to have found my feet doing something that I finally feel comfortable with. I mean yeah, everyone knows that my dream was to front a band and get famous that way, but you know what? I tried that a couple of times (three actually), and it didn't really work out for me. Which is fine. The best career path I've had so far was when I was writing my column for Chaos Magazine. I got my best feedback from fans at that time as well, so I feel almost like this is natural progression, and it feels good to be here bringing you guys the news!
Anyway, enough about me, it's time for some more news from the world of all of your favouritest music stars. I hope you enjoy, and I thank you from the very bottom of my once black heart :) (also, check out this photo of me with a doll of me that some (not crazy) fan made. Awwweeeesome!
Love, Cass xoxoRaindrops, Caffeine, and is That A Fucking Zombie? It seems like she's done it again! The undoubted Queen of the Undead, Ms Katie Coyle, had the world of social media in meltdown on Monday of this week when she caused yet another scare for her life amongst her fans, bringing her tally up to; one almost death, one actual death and subsequent "miracle" and now this...a hoax. But did she mean it? Was it all for the attention or was it simply a harmless tweet that her fans took for something sinister?
On Sunday, the Naked on Paper singer lost her long term on-off girlfriend Nicole Woods, who Chaos reported had died in a car crash after an argument with Katie on Twitter, leading Ms Coyle to spend all day Monday tweeting about how depressed she, understandably, was to her friend Nadia Berry. It was at night , however, when she posted the controversial tweet, writing: "78...79...80...just sleep Katie...shhh...sleep."
Her failure to respond to subsequent tweets from fans and friends meant that within the hour, Twitter had almost gone into meltdown, with the top 3 trending topics on the site being; #RIPKatie #KatieIsDead and #IsKatieDead?
Throughout the night, fans posted their condolences to her Twitter feed, Facebook wall and her official website, before, once again, the miraculous recovery occurred, and the zombie princess rose yet again, with the oh so (un)predictable "What happened? I just went to sleep..."
So what do you reckon, was she really just asleep? Or was this yet another desperate cry for help? We can't quite tell, but after she "died" following the FCA, and her alleged overdose on tour, we can't help but feel a little sceptical.
Rock's young heroes announce their returnNo sooner has one of rock's young champions announced released a heroic second album, than a second comes along and delights teenagers the world over with the announcement that they are heading into the studio to record the follow up to their massive number one debut.
After a few months of relative quiet from the guys, the website of Misery Loves Company was THE place to be earlier in the week, as the guys posted up a blog post from Ryan Williams telling us about their latest escapades.
Having recently finished a US tour with Suburban Sunrise, it seems that MLC have come back with their grown up heads on. Pronouncing themselves prodly as "no longer a bunch of 19-year old guys", they say that their second album will be a lot more mature, and a whole lot more rocky and well rounded. But how will the fans take to that? While many may feel that a chance to grow with MLC is quite a cool thing to do, watching them every step of the way and feeling a real part of their maturing, there will undoubtedly be, as their is with any act, that small little closed minded group who will bemoan the loss of the angst-ridden debut Two Sides to the Story.
We know for sure though, that Chaos can't wait to hear what MLC are going to do. With such a hype behind them after their debut, the second album has to deliver and we're more than sure it will.
Oh...and the latest update...they're going to debut a new song at Total Annihilation next weekend. The teenage girl in us wants to eeeeek extremely loudly...but we're holding it in. Honest.
Remember...damn, what was her name again?
Isn't it always quite amazing when you totally forget someone, and then they suddenly come back into your life and make you remember just why you loved them so much in the first place? It's much like finding a five in a pair of jeans you haven't worn in months. That momentary moment of elation when you suddenly realise you had forgotten is awesome.
Anyway, this comeback queen may be worth a good bit more than 5 dollars, and even if her comeback wasn't met with universal acclaim amongst my colleagues at Chaos, I, and the rest of the sane pop loving world were ecstatic at the weekend to learn of the totally shock return of the gorgeous and beautiful Cristina Lake.
Amazingly, it's been a full two years since we heard from Cristina, a time in which she has clearly gone away and found herself, because the new track she released following her retuen is just magnificent. If this is what a two-year break does to someone, then everyone should go away at least every other year.
The indie pop star, who had won massive praise for her debut album Nola in 2010, as well as numerous film credits, disappeared into the dark nothingness having hit the depths of depression when she lost long term boyfriend Jack Frost. The tabloids had a field day, and drove Lake away from the limelight.
She returns though, with this great, emotive comeback track, Troubled Spotlight, which is no doubt an ode to the times she felt the media were simply out to get her. The song is majestic, it's elegant, and it's wonderful. I for one hope that Cristina is here to stay this time!
Lake has also found herself a label, having been signed to the label Angel Music Records, the first signing since the death of former owner Cherise, who comitted suicide late last year.
Celebrity Big Brother: UpdateAre you still awake out there? We are yes...Hmmmmm. It seems like no matter how much we enjoy this series of Big Brother, the people who are in there, making the whole thing enjoyable, just don't seem to be able to have a good time. We are now just a day short of the latest group of housemates having been in there for two whole weeks (or one week if you're Bianca), and it feels as if none of them really want to be there. The only two who seem to be having a good time at all are Erich Hess and Eilidh Greene! One appears to be having a veritable whale of a time taping stuff to walls (including, so far, fruit, furnishings and anything else which sits still for long enough.), while the other seems just too naive to know any better. Undoubted moment of the week came with Erich's face when Eilidh told him that she had never, in her entire life, had a sexual thought about anyone. It was priceless. If you haven't seen it, YouTube it.
As for the rest of the housemates, they just need to cheer up. Alex and Bianca are giving us their fair share of entertainment, with the latter playing a prank on the former by attempting to have him wake the bed, but the rest seem to just complain that there's nothing to do.
Ah well, we're sure that once they all settle in more, they'll find themselves having a lot more fun!
The Interview
Isabel Merjos
Hi Isabel! So tell us, what are you loving at the minute?
Isabel: I'm loving....life right about now. Everything seems to be going well for me and my family so I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
What can we expect to see from you soon?
Isabel: I'm currently working on my third album and hopefully that will be out in the next few months. Also working on my clothing line, name yet to be revealed and still shooting for the Living With The Merjo's show!
Are you excited about what 2012 has to hold for you?
Isabel: I am! It's the year for me to try new things and venture out further than what I'm used to. I look forward to the new challenges.
Looking back, you had an awesome 2011, what was your favourite moment?
Isabel: Hmm....I think my favorite moment would be when I got my very first #1 single, it was really unreal. I literally cried.
Do you prefer to play live or record?
Isabel: I think playing live is always more fun because I get to jump around and have fun with the audience and plus I get to watch my fans enjoy the music rather being coped up in a studio (Laughs)
What has been your favourite moment on stage?
Isabel: I think it would have to be when I was in Spain. The energy there is absolutely amazing and I had so much fun! I've never experienced that much craziness in one night before, it was mind blowing.
Do you have any weird fans? Any strange or creepy presents?
Isabel: I did meet some guys who tattooed my name on their arms and have a tattoo of my face on his stomach. I think that's just some dedication right there. (Laughs) I mean I would never tattoo a name or face on me but I applaud them for their fan dedication. I haven't gotten any creepy presents though, still waiting for those.
And finally, who is Izzy's favourite artist?
Isabel: Welll...there's so many great artists but I don't really have a favorite right now. I don't think I have one favorite artist that I listen to all the time or admire but I have a list of them. I haven't really found that one artist that's stuck out to me in order to be my favorite.
