Well a BBC article last updated an hour ago (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-16993391) contains a quote, "But UK officials said the accusations of militarisation were "absurd"."

A Guardian article (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/feb/10/falkland-islands-argentina-uk-nuclear-weapons) states more or less the same.

Britain, or any other nuclear power, would not reveal the location of its nuclear deterrent. The whole point of it si that the subs could be anywhere in the world. Now a week ago the Daily Mail claimed that a Trafalgar-class sub had been sent to the South Atlantic, but they are only armed with conventional missles (Tomahawks), and have no nuclear warheads. That is a nuclear powered submarine, not a submarine capable of launching nuclear weapons, as they are Vanguard class, as I mentioned previously

Well then to be blunt, it's fake. Logically it is too far-fetched and without some actual evidence quoted, I ain't buyin'. There's nothing on any of the major English language news sites, either in the UK, or outside like Russia Today, Al Jazeera, CNN, etc.

For example, one would require a name of this person, and his position.

That'll be Mark Lyall Grant, the UK representative to the UN then.

This page, http://www.bbc.co.uk/new...d-latin-america-16993391 has a video of him on it near the bottom, tho I'm not sure if it'll be available to view outside the UK. Well, I can only otherwise quote that Beeb article, "In response, Britain's UN envoy Mark Lyall Grant said the government does not comment on the "disposition of nuclear weapons, submarines etc".

The video on that page Lyall Grant says that the Argie Foreign Ministers accusation is "manifestly absurd" at about 1 min 10 secs.

I should add at this point that I'd not be surprised if a Vanguard class nuclear submarine was in the south Atlantic, or heading that way. But I would be utterly stunned if that fact was to be revealed to the public by a British civil servant.

Jaysus. Apparently the Falklands celebrate Margaret Thatcher Day.

So fuck it, you can have them back, sound too much like middle England for my tastes.

God, this nonsense is still going on. Kirchner must be getting absolute pelters in the polls at home. And then the Spanish are kicking up a fuss about Gibralter now too. Good grief. The things unpopular governments do to try & hang on to power. Loathe to imagines how the Tories will try.
