You're Just the Same is the first song to be revealed from the much anticipated debut album, Pressure Points, from British pop-punk newcomers CrushCrushCrush!
The track is an edgy pop-punk offering which deals with the complications of a relationship, and when you feel like someone is different, only for them to turn out to be the same as everyone else, offering up disappointment and rejection. The song is opened with a distant, echoing voice unaccompanied by any instruments, before the band launch into a rocky, quick pop-punk song, bringing up memories of Blink 182 and Green Day in their hey day.
Lauren says: This was one of the first songs we laid down on the album, so it makes sense to make it one of the first we let the fans hear. It is quite indicative of what you can expect from the album as a whole. It's fast paced, it's energetic, it's punchy, and it's catchy. I love it personally.
In terms of the subject matter, it's pretty self explanatory. We've all been there, especially the girls, where you think you've found this amazing guy, and he turns out to be just like everyone else and eventually just leaves you on your own. This is simply the tale of that.
You like to think that you're so different//
But you're just the same, you're just 1..2..3..4!//I remember...that summer//
The days were long and the sun shone down on us//
Like it was easy...just as I wanted//
We had some fun, we laughed, we smiled, we never caused a fuss//
But then the rains came//
And I felt so tamed//
You cracked your whip//
You busted my lip//
But you can never...take me down//
You like to think..that you're so different//
But you're just the same..you're just the same//
You're telling everyone that you're not in love//
You said you're playing a game..but I won't play your game//
Hey don't you know what I'm feeling?//
This is real...it's so real...//
You're just the same//
