I doubt this is worthy enough of a place in Serious Debate, so it goes here...
Beer drinkers or haters, post your thoughts. Discuss what you beleive to be the finest drop known to man, which country brews the best beer (It's not Australia and it sure as hell is not America)Light, mid strength, low carbs (biggest load of shit going around) or full?. Is there nothing better than a cold pint on a steaming hot summers day or would you rather guzzle battery acid? Or water?
Simply put, I love beer...a little too much sometimes. |

I hate beer. The only one I can drink without thinking of vomiting is Heineken (out of all the ones I ever tried). I'd only drink it if I wanted to get drunk and had little money, or was in desperate need to drink something and it was the only option. Edited by user 26 June 2009 20:06:03(UTC)

Simply put, I love beer...a little too much sometimes. Beer drinker at heart right here. Have to agree with you America does NOT have the best beer. I like mine full none of that bullshit like low carbs. I do however usually drink Bud Light recently. I really don't have much a tastebud so I drink anything basically and don't bitch like most people about it. |

Mostly Grolsh, sometimes Heneken. Im from the Netherlands, but the best beer comes from Belgium. Almost every town, village has an own brewery. A lot of old monastery's are still brewing beer (9%, 10%, 11%, 12%). |

I like Labatt I think it's called, but I haven't seen it in years. Of the regularly available beers, Miller is my preference. Stella, Carling and Tennants I avoid at all costs. |

Here in Britain, my usual beer is Carlsberg, it's what's readily available in my regular bar and isn't so bad. |

Belgium definately has to have some of the finest beers in the world. I'd move there just for that...and the chocolate. |

Yes its weird in Holland a lot of people dont like Heineken not that much (bad taste) but in de USA its a cult beer. Very strange. |

How come when ever anyone ask's what your favorate beer is everyone mentions the same type of beer... a Pilsner!!!
I agree that Belgium was, is and always probably will be the best beer country in the world... Kwak, Duvel, Jessenhofke, La Chouffe, Struise Mikkeler... God i coudl go on and on about them all day.
Anyway. As a commited Beer drinker and deputy manager of a real ale pub, My favorate none belgium beers are obviously Ales along the lines of Coniston Brewery - Old Man Ale Hesket Newmarket Brewery (i work at the brewery tap) - High Pike, Catbells, Blencathera Hawkshead Brewery - Damson Stout Beer St Peters brewery - any of them .... yum
Americans are brewering some amazing beers nowadays so leave em alone... Just don't mention Anheuser-Busch, pure evil in a bottle... If we are talking Continental beers that aint from Belgium, then i tend to go for German wheat beers like Erdinger or Czech largers like Budweirs Budvar.
im not obbsessed with beer... honest. |
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like: Hey, what are you doing here? and im just like: Oh you know, hunting elephants |

It's just one of those 'export' beers...here in Australia absolutely nobody drinks Fosters. Yet in England is absolutely huge, though I guess that's mostly among the expat Aussies who can't stomach Guinness which I dont mind occassionally. |

Maybe the smaller boutique stuff from the micro brewerys, just like Australia with Redbacks and Little Creatures but come on, Budwieser, Millers, Coors....bleurrrrgh. |

I knew a couple of guys obsessed with Erdinger. When in Paris on a Uni trip, we ended up in some little pub a few blocks from the Eifel Tower and they were so excited to discover they served Erdinger. I'm really not an alcohol drinker though, when I do drink lager, it's one bottle and then that's enough. A second bottle and I just go "You know what? This tastes horrible." Also: never been drunk. Well, good for you, your not missing out on anything. I have to say getting drunk is massively overrated, cant help but laugh at all the kiddies running around thinking its fucking awesome getting shitfaced and doing really stupid stuff and forgetting what happened and smashing other peoples faces in with beer bottles, stealing street signs and pissing in other peoples gardens.... for me vomiting four times in one day (once before bed, once when I woke, once before boarding a plan and then again whilst flying) is not fun at all. |

I generally don't like the taste of beer. Just my two cents.
Oh look, Elliot is similar... And mentioning wine, our shared favourite. |
