It is a perfectly valid arguement that pop music has been the driving force behind the majority of pop culture which hasn't so much changed music or changed America as changed a whole lot of the world. I mean in the post-war enviroment of the 1950s, the teenager was invented, and what is the 50s teenager without Bill Haley & The Comets, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Little Richard, Fats Domino & all the rest? Music is a pretty important part of modern life now, and it's everywhere. Yes, movements come and go, and music is not solely responsible for these changes in pop culture, but it has an effect. And that reflects on western society as a whole.
