John York has released a brand-spanking new single today. It is only being released as an internet download; there will not be a physical release or any b-sides. It has managed to creep into the UK top 40 based on downloads alone, because his home country is the only place where people still care about him or see him as a public figure. The song also marks John’s debut on lead vocals. The mandatory applause and what-whats are greatly appreciated. The song opens in a punk/pub rock style, featuring only John’s electric guitar and a pounding, foot stomping drum beat that is very prominent in the mix. John essentially shouts the vocals, with his regional accent delightfully clear. There is slight eco in his microphone, which adds a bit more power to his voice. Female backing vocalists sing in a traditional, old-school pop style. The song structure is simple, and this part of the song blows by in about a minute. It is followed by a (roughly) two minute long noise collage created by John playing a variety of guitar parts.

The song is called “Back in the World.” John York sang lead vocals and played guitar, the drums and backing vocals were provided by session musicians: a bearded, out of work, down-in-the-dumps percussionist and three tall blondes, respectively. York wrote the song and produced the recording. He will share some of the fish he caught today with anyone who says nice things. Thank you.
