You Don't Know How It Feels, Part I (RRH Therapy Sessions)

"But let me get to the point, let's roll another joint
And turn the radio loud, I'm too alone to be proud
You don't know how it feels
You don't know how it feels to be me"

- "You Don't Know How It Feels," Tom Petty

Prologue

Somewhere along the way, somebody or some group of people instructed us that it is possible to feel okay all of the time. That the human body or the human mind should normally behave appropriate at all times. And if there is even any part of your day or week or month that falls short of feeling 100 percent; there is something wrong with you.

As much of an outspoken soul that Ryan was, there was always certain aspects of his life that he kept secluded from the rest of the world. For example, the fact that he had a shrink. Nobody else in the world knew that he had been attending therapy on-and-off, for the last few years. Ever since his move to Hollywood years ago, he move coincided with some personal behavior changes that served to significantly increase his tabloid exposure. In the early days with his band, previously, Ryan had expressed his resolve to completely avoid drugs, alcohol, clubbing, "red-carpet" events, dating celebrities and anything else that he felt would detract from his focus on his music. He alludes to a to experiencing an extreme "anxiety bender" episode in his twenties that motivated him to be less reclusive. In turn, he became a celebrity himself and did everything that he once made fun of and the rest can be seen with his ecstatic behavior ever since.

In turn, he felt as if he was misunderstood a lot of the time. Yes, he is long-winded and highly self-aware. He may have done things in the past that could be considered "saving face," which give him the ever so sought out the term of being a "douchebag." That with a million other things, like being called a misogynist, kiss-and-tell ex-boyfriend, and homophobe. Most of which came after a very controversial Rolling Stone interview in February of 2010, that made him seriously cut down the amount of interviews in the last 23 months. Much the reason why he has yet to go on a massive promotional stint to promote his latest album, despite all the nagging that his record label is giving him to do so. If anything he was scared of what he would say that could cause another shit storm. Even last year when he kept to himself more so than before, he still found himself getting slaps on the wrist for things he spills on Twitter as well as the rather infamous Ellie-Grace Summers controversy.

He went to his first therapy session of the new year, on just the second day of it. He made his girlfriend some bullshit lie that he had to go to LA for the day to have a meeting with executives at Studio60 Records, which wasn't even a little bit true. He traveled to LA for a day to see his shrink and get some stuff off his chest. In Los Angeles, you do have to be careful with shrinks, because most of them just give you a prescription for Xanax and let you figure the rest out. He thankfully he found a true professional woman who was probably just a few years older than he was which made him feel comfortable.

Ryan sat on the couch in front of his therapist, who was dressed in a causally conservative attire you would expect from a psychologist, a blouse and suit skirt with heels. Ryan wore a long-sleeved plaid shirt with a plain white t-shirt underneath, along with a pair of baggy cargo pants which were a shade of olive greenish and sneakers. He had on a ala-Bob Dylan hat much of his long hair curled at the ends. "So Ryan, how were your holidays?" she asked him calmly. He took a small sigh under his breath before beginning to speak, "It was nice, I had a good time." "That's nice. You spent them all with your girlfriend, Nadia, right?" she quickly followed after he had spoken. "Yeah, yeah. I was down in Miami for Christmas with her and my family. I actually met her parents down there."

"Interesting. And how was that?", she asks him as Ryan rubs his hands against his legs. "All things considered, I guess it happened," he tells her with a small laugh, before continuing on. "She told me a few weeks before that her parents were joining us for Christmas and I basically had no say in it. I met them and they seem like great people."

"It kind of sounds like you didn't want to meet them." she infers from what he said. Ryan nods his head in agreement, "Well, if I'm being completely honest, I didn't. I guess it seemed fair in her mind because she met my family on Thanksgiving but I only invited her because she and her group were in the same fucking city that day. I was gonna look like an asshole if I didn't invite her then so, I was backed up against a wall again."

"Have you told Nadia how you feel? That seems like a good place to start." She rests her head on her hand as she recrosses her legs. "Fuck no. Because at least for the next three months, I want to keep getting laid every night. I want to keep waking up to blowjobs and happy endings." Ryan tells her, feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket "So what? Your relationship with her is just all about physical contact again, about sex?" Ryan shakes his head, laughing off her comment. "No, it was about sex 18 months ago when we started dating and the five months afterward. That was all about jumping on each other and fucking until we were dehydrated. If I still wanted that, I wouldn't be dating Nadia."

"But you do love her, right?" The doctor asks him as she adjusts a wrinkle on her skirt. Ryan rubs his hand over his face before speaking. "Absolutely. I wouldn't be putting up with all this shit if I didn't. But..." He pauses, rubbing his hand roughly against the back of his head. "What's wrong?" He takes a pause to try and find a way to explain what he was feeling. "Sometimes I get this really bad anxiety that makes me doubt myself and my feelings towards her."

"Well Ryan, you're not a young guy anymore. Your charm and good looks are eventually going to fade. Do you really want to grow old lonely?" It sounded like his shrink knew him well enough, and as much as that agitated him, he liked being challenge. Ryan chuckles sarcastically at her remark, before speaking up again as he leans closer off the couch. "Here's why I don't have to think about that, doc. I still have my charm and looks. I'm 34 years old and I hate the fact that people keep thinking that I should start thinking about marrying Nadia and have lots of annoying ass kids with her. 34 is a weird age because I'm not young anymore, but I'm not old. I'm not saying I want to be a bachelor at 60 years old and walking into fucking Mr. Chow with a 19 year old Russian supermodel who no one can say her name but she has a pair of big, lovely, natural breasts you want to fucking eat off." He takes a quick pause to catch his breath, "So please, do not give me that fucking bullshit about growing old lonely. I don't have to worry about that shit yet."

She nods in vague agreement, "Alright Ryan, you're right. But you have to be honest with Nadia, she sounds like an amazing woman. How about you start off with the fact that you come to therapy?" Ryan finally stands up as he reaches into his pocket, grabbing his phone. "Not a chance in hell. What else you got?"

"How about telling her about Ellie-Grace Summers?" the next few beats after she threw that question at him, made the room go silent. He looks down for a minute, not raising his head to look over at her as he spoke, "What about her? What do you mean by that?" She clears her throat loudly, "Well how about telling her the truth"

"This session is fucking over. I've learned in my life that people love a lair, but hate a cheater. Why the fuck does no one believe me when I tell them it was just a simple kiss? It meant nothing to me. I've never cheated on Nadia by way of sticking my penis in another girl's vagina."

"Well you know there's other forms of cheating, they don't necessarily have to do with you having intercourse with another woman." she asks him in a weary tone. "I'm sorry, I didn't have sex ed in high school! But I'm pretty fucking sure that if I just fuck Nadia, everything is great. We're both apart from each other a lot, I have needs. If an attractive woman wants to blow me and I haven't had sex in three weeks because Nads is off touring, that's not cheating."

"So I guess you think it's fine if she thought that way too, right?" You wouldn't mind if she as you say, "blew," another guy?", he took off his hat and ran a hand through his hair as he shook his head angrily. "No, don't you fucking go there! She hasn't done any form of job sexually or fuck with another guy!" She stands up to see if you she could get him to look at her. "That makes you jealous. So why are you giving me a double standard?" Ryan puts his hat back on, rubbing his chin nervously. "Fuck off. Do not give me none of that psychology bullshit. Listen, I know it's not right what I've done behind her back but I don't think I could ever give myself entirely to her until I figure what the fuck keeps bringing me back to make the same mistakes. It's as simple as that."

Interlude

Let me tell you what happens to everybody, but they won't talk about it because they feel that it's only them, but it's everybody. Everybody freaks out. If you want to freak out; freak out. If you feel like all the sudden you're six and you want to cry; just go do it. Just everybody accept that everybody is going to freak out. Yeah, everybody's going to freak out!

To be continued...

(OOC: Expect to see more RPs like this from me this year. Particularly with RRH, who I'm trying to humanize more and give more of an in-depth look of him.)

OOC: Thanks for that comments so far, as well as anyone who's read it and enjoyed it. I've edited the ending a bit due to some of my own stupidity beforehand, but hopefully it still looks good.

OOC: This was ridiculously brilliant, awesome job! It almost makes me want to do something similar, if I wasn't afraid of being labelled a copycat afterwards, haha. You've never stopped making Ryan one of the most believable and well-developed characters on the forum, so it's an absolute joy to read stuff like this, RP's that delve into his mind and feelings.
Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist
Matt Roberts - Bass
Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist
Amelia Florentine - Keyboards, Piano, Lyricist, Backup Vocals

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

(I feel I should start putting a small disclaimer in these RPs. Ryan again uses strong and explicit language, so kittens beware.)
Warning Sign, Part II (RRH Therapy Sessions)

"A warning sign
I missed the good part, then I realized
I started looking and the bubble burst
I started looking for excuses
Come on in
I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones
That I started looking for a warning sign"

- "Warning Sign," Coldplay

Ryan is still continuing his Bob Dylan look, which I guess one could come to the conclusion that such look means looking the equivalent of a cowboy. You see, with every album cycle, Ryan takes on different musical persona's and he embraces them with a smirk when he carries out that message beyond just his music. With his debut album, his look was one of a preppy Abercrombie wearing kid who was fresh out of college and was still wide-eyed. When his second record came around, his look shifted more to a less caring rockstar who just wanted to play music. His hair grew in size and curls as he embraced his blues roots. He even went to the length of getting a complete tattoo sleeve that now covers his entire left arm. With Let a Man Be Lost, his third album, is to-date his most high-maintenance look. During that period he was fully covered in what the media would perceive as being the Hollywood look. Even when he wore simple white t-shirt, you could tell it was from some ridiculous expensive brand like Armani, where a single white undershirt costs one hundred and thirty dollars. With his most recent release, Running Changes, he took the role of a California rocker. You may have smelled the pot smoke if you walked past him, as the Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty records played on vinyl in the background.

Now he is embracing his newest musical transition with a highway robber of Dylan's closet. One may think that the look changes are a bit forced, especially now that you can pinpoint who his influence is this time. He's wearing a lot of turquoise and plaids these days. Throw in some eight hundred dollar designer jeans that capture an old-school look and a thousand dollar boots to his attire and a hat to cover his long mopey hair, you have some odd 21st century reincarnation of a cowboy. The strangest part of this entire look is that he's from Miami, Florida. The only way you could be less cowboy is if you were from the Northeast or West Coast of the Untied States.

Today was no different than the last few months in his life. Even if it was near 60 degrees in Los Angeles, he was wearing layers of clothes with olive-colored baggy pants and a pair of boots. Of course, he went no where these days without his hat on, today being no exception. Thankfully, unlike two weeks ago when he was taken aback by the unpleasant surprise of seeing Gia Rose in the same office, this time there were no surprises. He was quickly able to walk in to his appointment with Dr. Hudson.

After brief "hello's" and "how are you's" were made and passed on, they both took a seat in the opposite direction from one another. Ryan sat on the couch, taking off his hat and tossing it to his side, already knowing that the questions were coming his way. "Well Ryan, today you look a bit more relaxed than last time we talked," she stated noticing that the air in the room was much less hostile than last time when he stormed out of her office. He lowered his head slightly to chuckle as he nodded his head in agreement. "I have reason to feel relaxed. This morning Nadia gave me an exceptional blowjob. You can't ask for a better start to your day than waking up with your penis in a woman's mouth. How about you doc? Do you ever engage in some morning glory with your husband?"

She bites her bottom lip preventing herself from laughing. She has had enough therapy sessions with Ryan to know that not one session went by when he didn't make such blunt, sexual statements. After clearing her throat, she began to speak again, "So Nadia joined you on this cross-country trip?" He leaned back on the couch and raised his foot over his opposite knee. "Yeah, yeah she did. We went to a birthday party for one of her bandmates this past Friday and even before then I told her I wanted her to come to LA with me." She adjusted her position on the chair she sat in, looking over at him. "I'm guessing she doesn't know your in therapy at this moment, right?" He shook his head, "No, she doesn't. But I didn't entirely lie to her this time. This morning had to go in and do some voice-overs that were missing for my film. I didn't lie to her. I just didn't tell her the entire truth."

Right at the moment she was about to part her lips to speak, he spoke up again. "Could we please not get into the whole... telling her that I go to therapy thing? You're not going to change my mind, and we already know how it ended last time I was here. If we can just please bypass that today, I'd appreciate it." His brown eyes pleaded along as he looked over at her. "Not a problem, Ryan. We'll talk about it again when you're ready. But you're gonna have to let her know sooner or later. And at some point I would like her to be sitting next to you in that same couch." Ryan let out a sarcastic laugh, "Why is that? Is your fee for couple's therapy more expensive?" She shook her head, recrossing her legs. "No, rather because I think it would improve the relationship you two have if you're honest with her and you let her inside your brain a bit."

Ryan sighed shaking his foot along. "You don't understand, do you? Nadia had a nervous fucking breakdown a handful of years ago. She was diagnosed as being bi-polar and to this date she still needs to take medication. I can't even begin to explain to you how much I hate the worthless fuck of a man who put her through that. She does not need to be brought in to also have to deal with my problems. Now that she's at the height of her success and she has a clear mind, she doesn't deserve that." She realized that she shouldn't continue to poke him with the same matter anymore, at least for the rest of this session. "Fair enough," she said, forming a small smirk at the corner of her lips.

Ryan uncrossed his legs and leaned forward on the couch, "Hmm... could I ask you a question? I promise this isn't sexual at all. I know you don't like your clientele asking you questions." She looked at him half intrigued at what he could have to ask her. "You're free to ask me. Whether I answer it or not is up in the air." Ryan gave a simple nod, "Fine," he began, "You have a rather new client called Gia or Giovanni Rose, correct?" She looked up, a bit confused as to why he was asking the question. "You better than most know that I'm not allowed to speak for my other patients." Ryan grinned as he rubbed his cheek, "Please Hudson, don't feed me any bullshit. I was here two weeks ago when she came in through those doors for her first session with you. I bet you didn't know that Gia and I actually know each other. Don't worry, she's not an ex. We've never had sex. I've never explored her wonderland with my hands nor my penis. I actually know Gia because she's one of the owners on the record label I'm signed to. Funny, right?"

She's taken a bit aback that he actually knows one of her other clients. He's often mentioned the fact that he choose her over other therapists because she was outside from the whole Hollywood range of therapists that had a client list of A-list celebrities, whom were more than happy to give them a prescription cocktail. Ryan enjoyed the privacy he got here. "No need to say anything. I spoke with your secretary, very lovely girl by the way, she's a fan. A UCLA grad that's not Asian, nicely done. But she was kind enough to look up and tell me that she is on file. Hold on, I haven't even gotten to the good part. Sadly, it doesn't involve the cute little brunette outside giving me a tug before I came in."

He paused and cleared his throat before continuing, "It involves your new client, Miss Rose, basically attacking me with questions in the waiting room. Almost asking me as many questions as you do. I don't know if she's come to you because her husband is a has-been rockstar who cheats on her and is an alcoholic. I don't know her that well. But next time she's here, could you maybe touch upon the topic of minding her own fucking business," he said with a chuckle. "Seriously, I'm not a rapper so I don't like calling women this, but this bitch did not stop. She kept asking me on and on why I was here. Why the fuck can't people just mind their own business in this goddamn city? Did this generation become so shitty that people have to TMZ stuff to the point that it loses all its meaning?"

"I'm done now. We could go back to me. Still your only A-list client." She blinks a few times and shakes her head, not entirely sure where to go from there. This was the point where she wished she was one of those therapists who took notes and not just relied on her memory. "You and Nadia are living together in New York now, right? How has that process been?" Ryan lowered his vision, staring off into nothing in specific. "Do you recall when I told you that I just do things with a certain intention and even if the person doesn't take it the way I wanted it to be I just go with it? That's what happened and it's the reason why Nadia now lives with me in New York City." She rested her chin on her hand, "How so?" Ryan looked back up at her. "Well on Christmas I gave a key to my apartment in New York, and my intention was for just her to have a key. If she ever was in New York and I wasn't, she was more than welcome to stay there. If we were both in the city but I was out, she was able to roam around and have a key to come back to my place. But I guess she took it as, 'let's become a live-in couple.'"

She leans forward in her chair, "But yet, you still didn't tell her how you felt?" Ryan ran a hand through his hair, putting his hat back on. "I couldn't. She looked so happy then. I wasn't gonna take that moment of happiness from her. Even if it made me feel bad that I'm never gonna be able to give her what she wants." She studied his face a bit longer. "What is it that you think she wants?" He sighed looking down at the floor. "What every woman wants sooner or later; to plan their wedding, have kids, start a family, buy a big house with a backyard. You wanna know the only thing from that list that I can give her? The big house. Hell, a mansion if she wants."

Ryan sighed again loudly, this time leaning back and looking up at the ceiling. "I hate this feeling that I have inside," he began to say in a low voice. "I hate the fact that I've come to the realization that I might have become dependent of Nadia. That I love her so much that I can't see a time when I'm not with her." She intervened to ask, "Ryan, why is that a bad thing?" he sighed, believing that she couldn't understand him either. "Because that's not who I am. As soon as I left my mom's house when I was nineteen years old I taught myself from that point on that everyone I met was just going to pass through my life and I was going to be okay with that. That it was all a never-ending circle in people's life until we died. It always made letting people go a little easier." He brought his head back down, his eyes had watered up a bit. He quickly cleared any trace of them ever being so, as he hated to show any vulnerability, that was outside of his music. "Is there any scenario in your head where your better off without her?" he thought about it for a minute, deciding to answer it in a joking matter. "Yes, but in such scenario I'm happily married to Kate Beckinsale. Unless she's a client of yours and you can convince her to leave her husband for me, then there isn't a better scenario," he said letting out a laugh.

"Ryan, why don't you tell her all of this? She's your girlfriend, the woman you love. Don't you think she deserves to know how you feel?" He leaned forward looking straight at her and told her, "No," he simply stated. "Nadia and I are currently in the best run our relationship has ever had. For over a month now we've seen each other everyday, we woke up next to each other everyday. That's never happened to us before. And for the next two months, that will continue to happen. Next month we're going to Maui for Valentine's Day. In March, we're going to Cabo for two weeks. I have at least another two solid months to spend happy as fuck with this wonderful woman. To have a lot more sex with her."

He took a quick pause before continuing, "I don't have to assess anything in my relationship with her until she has to go on that Asia and Australian tour in April. Until then, I don't have to worry about anything." He took a glance at his watch, "Looks like my session is up." She looked up at him telling him, "You know, you're just prolonging the storm, right?" He looked over at her and nodded his head. "I know. You also can't tell a woman you're dating that you wanna keep it casual after you fucked her anally. I know, the world's not fair. A bunch of women are Coyle-ing back and forth. That's a term I created for women who turn into lesbians for a moment then go back to seeing men. What happen to the days when a lesbian was just a lesbian? I hate bisexual women, they confuse men. Stop being on the fence about it, it's not that hard. You either love dick or you love vagina. You can't love both."

A laugh escapes off her lips at Ryan's comments. "Ah, I finally saw those white pearls. It's gonna be a good two months, Hudson. I'm telling you, honey. I'll try to come in again before I head to Maui and sip mojitos while I enjoy seeing Nadia in a sexy bikini." He says his goodbye to her, saying as he steps out of the office, "Do remember, doc. Blowjobs keep a man happy."

OOC: In have to agree with Stace, the first part was awesome, but the second part was amazing. This whole thing is pretty different from the usual as well, and these therapy sessions are the best thing to bring out Ryan's personality, very entertaining to read.

OOC: Thank you for all the kind comments. I'm glad people have enjoyed reading it, as well as reaching my goal of making it better than the first session which I was a bit on fence about. So, thanks to everyone who took the time to read it. After I posted it was when I noticed it was a bit on the lengthy side.

Idiot Wind, Part III (RRH Therapy Sessions)

"Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your mouth
Blowing down the backroads headin’ south
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth
You’re an idiot, babe
It’s a wonder that you still know how to breathe"

- "Idiot Wind," Bob Dylan

Getting older is like getting on a boat and leaving the harbor. As you get older you can still see the harbor behind you, and you're like 'Cool I see where I am, cool, I know where I am. I was there and now I'm here'. But at a certain age it's just all water everywhere 'cause you haven't reached your destination and you're still so far away where you left. It's like being stranded at sea, at a point where you're not young enough to have meaningless flings, but not old enough to settle down with a wife and kids.

"Don't you think when you want more love you can be like, 'I had a bad dream that you were sleeping around, it's really irrational, but just love me a little extra today.' Why can't we just say that to the person we love? 'Just love me a extra today'," he told his therapist, keeping his gaze on his cell phone which he placed on the coffee table in front of him before he sat down. The news that he had received that morning was still ringing in his head. It wasn't three o'clock in the afternoon and he was already having a god awful day. Ryan went to his throat doctor for a routine check up, something that he always did before he had to head off on the road to tour. To his surprise though, after they had a scope of his vocal chords, it showed that he had granuloma. The doctor explained to him that he had it right where his vocal chords hit in sync.

In short, Ryan had to make a choice. Either he could have canceled this coming tour immediately without requiring surgery to remove it, and have an extended period of time off the stage to give it time to heal through intensive treatment. The other option which is the one Ryan was choosing, involved him performing on the coming tour, but to follow doctors orders there after and not perform live until, at the very least, early 2013. Option two also involved him having the granuloma surgically removed, yet still needing the intensive treatment so it doesn't grow back afterwards.

"When are you going to tell her?" she asked him, Ryan let out a long sigh, finally dragging his eyes to look up at her. "In Cabo," he began, "We're going over there tomorrow, for over two weeks we'll in Cabo. I have plenty of time to tell her about this." She thought about what he said for a minute, he wasn't going to hide this from his girlfriend as well? She had known him long enough to capture the fact that he was the kind of a man who preferred to keep things to himself before becoming what he thought would be a burden to others. Which tempted her to blurt it straight out, "You know Ryan, you don't have to hide this from her. There's no reason for her not to know about this."

Ryan slowly nodded his head in agreement. "I'm not gonna hide it from her. She's probably gonna make it a big deal about it and I'm not gonna have to explain the whole process to her so she doesn't run off from her tour," he let out a small laugh, a weak one at that. He wasn't tired physically, but just a few hours into his day, he was emotionally drained already. "But ugh... It's good that she's not gonna be around when I have the surgery," he paused, biting down on his bottom lip. "I don't want her or anybody for that matter to see me that way, to see me weak and scared. I fucking hate it." His voice got weaker as that sentence went along. "And that day I'm gonna be scared. Hell, even at this moment I'm not holding up very well."

He cleared his throat, looking back down at the floor. "What are you scared of?" She asked him, leaning in with her on her chin, interested to hear his response. "Losing this. Losing it all. I'm scared of losing my spot, losing my career. It's easy to lose it too, you know. Once you become a waste of space, they bring another one similar to you right in," he was speaking quickly, almost in a bitter tone, "I need this. If at the end of the day I'm not a singer-songwriter, a musician, I'm a waste of space. Yeah, I have this acting bullshit, which I'm not even good at! And I own a fucking record label, which I don't know where the fuck in my brain that was a good idea." He finally took a pause to take a breath, before speaking again in a much more relaxed tone. "I'm nothing without it. I need to be able to sing, and write, and play guitar. I'm not very good at being anyone else. I need to be a musician. Nothing is more important than this career."

"Even Nadia?" She asked him quickly following up his last sentence. Ryan finally brought himself to look up at her, replying with certainty, "Yeah, even Nadia." He sad firmly, not moving the eye contact they were sharing. "Without my career as musician, I would have never met Nads. Our paths would have never crossed. You see, this beautiful life that I've been able to experience the last decade, I owe it all for having a little bit of talent in what I do. I worked my ass off to get here. And I'll be damned if some young fuck comes in and takes my place. Nadia knows how much I need this career to be able to function, to be happy with myself." Ryan leaned back on the couch, finally getting more comfortable since for the last half hour he's been there, he had been sitting at the edge of it. "I have the best doctors in the world. They all told me that they've never seen anyone have their career end because of this granuloma, pain in the ass it is, but that doesn't calm. That doesn't subside my fears one bit. Anything can happen."

She nodded her head, she knew that this was a painful subject for him. It had only been maybe two hours since he had received this diagnoses, and it killed him inside. "How about we talk about Nadia instead? Let's forget about that other matter for now." Ryan gave her a simple nod, but his eyes almost said thank you for him. "How are things with you two right now?" She asked, as she too settled in her chair as well. "We're good. We're perfect, actually," he paused knowing that there was a better way to answer her question. "A point that you seem to forget about a lot doc, is that when Nads and I are in a room together, we're great. We don't fight, we're playful, we just click when we're together. We have so much sex, doc. So much mind-blowing sex. I can't even begin to explain it to you. In the last four months the meaning of a sore dick has taken a whole new meaning for me."

His therapist couldn't help let a smirk appear at the corner of her lips, there was the Ryan she was waiting for. With the bluntness talk of sex in a matter that you never knew was candor or sarcasm. "Well what are you gonna do after Cabo? After you guys return, she's gonna have to go to Asia and Australasia to tour for four months, you were telling me last time." He thought of her question, which was very much valid, and it picked at him because of it. He wasn't sure what to do. He thought back to what he had just told her, which was true, when him and his girlfriend were in the same place everything was perfect for them. It was just when distance came between them that problems began to rise, even during simple calls or video chats. "I don't know, doc. I just don't know."

"Well wasn't it you who told me that you were gonna break up with her before the tour came around because you couldn't further commitment to her?" Ryan recalled when he had told her that, this woman had an incredible memory or she recorded all his visits to her. Not once has he ever seen her pick up a pen and paper to write any notes during their sessions. "I did say that, once. I don't know if I can go through it anymore, breaking up with her," he paused. "I don't think I can. She's just gotten so deep into me. I'm madly in love with her. She's... she's perfect." She covered her mouth with her hand, covering a smile that had come across her face. She felt that maybe this news about the surgery he needed on his vocal chords that was going to sideline him for a year, made him realize that Nadia is the one for him. "So what are you going to do Ryan?" She asked him.

He sighed, taking off his hat and covering his face with it for a few seconds, before placing back on his head when he spoke up. "I'll be honest with her. After the incredible four months that we've shared, she deserves that. For me to be completely open with her. Tell her everything. My fears, my missteps. I'll tell her about this, like you suggested a few months ago. I'll tell her that I come to therapy. I'm just gonna be honest with her and myself most of all. Some of the things that I tell her are gonna hurt her, I know they are. But I need to tell them. If I don't, I'll end up in a fucking asylum by the time she comes back."

She nodded her head along as he spoke, proud of him for finally realizing that he needed to be open with the woman he loved. "That's good Ryan, I'm glad to hear that. Be honest with her and see where it takes you. Because at least if you do that, no matter what the outcome is, you're showing some fight for her. She's gonna see that. Women always see those kind of things." He mustered up a smirk for the first time in the session, knowing that she was right. She's been right all along. "Let's hope she does," he sighed, "I can't afford to lose her right now."

Ryan reached for his phone and slipped it into his pocket, adjusting his hat again. "So you're ready to commit?" He chucked at her question, rubbing the palm of his hand over his eyes. "I said I didn't want to lose her. I never said I wanted to be signing a paper for irreconcilable differences in eight months," he said with another chuckle following it. "Classic Ryan," she said with a pause, shaking her head. "A wedding, kids, a white-picket fence. You're not gonna give her that. You're not grown up enough to give her or any other women any of those things that they dream of." She was speaking with such calmness and ease, that you wouldn't think she was taking such jabs at him. "Sure, you can give them romantic dinners, and trips around the world, and all the material things they desire. And hell, maybe you are fantastic in bed! But at the end of the day, to women that doesn't add up to anything if you can't show them any further commitment," she paused with her eyes still locked on him, "If you want to see women like Nadia, you're gonna have to grow up. If you decide that it's just incapable of you to commit, go back to seeing twenty-one year old girls who's last thing on their mind is marriage and kids."

He was taken aback by how bluntly honest she was of her opinion, usually, in most sessions she just gave him advice. But he knew he wasn't the easiest client around. "You're right, you're so fucking right," he told her with a sly smile. Ryan stood up from the couch, passing his hands over the wrinkles on his buttoned up long-sleeved shirt. "I haven't grown up yet to a point where marriage or having kids actually seems like something in my lifeline. How I see it? It's up to her. I'll leave it to her to decide if she wants to continue trying with me, or if she wants to meet other people. Hell, she might turn into a lesbian! Her and Katie screwing each other with a fucking strap-on. Which is an even more disturbing image than picturing her with another guy."

He took a pause, clearing his throat, before speaking again in a softer tone, looking down at her. "Contrary to popular belief, I'm not out there trying to hurt anyone," he expressed in a sorrowful tone, before exiting her office.

OOC: Beautiful, as always. RRH has always, to me at least, seemed like a bit of an enigma, so it's really fascinating to have an in-depth view of how he thinks, how he views the world. And to top it off, you're doing a great job with developing him as a character; he's a strong, confident rock star, so the vocal chord damage puts him in a really interesting position of vulnerability. Awesome job, man, I love it!
