The SongThe song is a mix of Pop and R&B with lots of Dance elements put in it too. It starts with some synthesizers playing the dancey beat and Laurence sings using an introducing tune with a reverb effect on his voice, and as the instruments start to slolwy playing an always more intense beat, the effect fades away. Laurence uses a louder tone for the pre-chorus, which is finished by Dominic with a tune very similar to a rap.
Then the bass and the kick start playing a new sequence of notes together, and along with the other synthesizers, the chorus starts and Laurence and Dominic both sing loud for the first lines and then go on lower tones for the last few lines, except the last one where Laurence hits a little higher notes again.
Then after a short instrumental where the bass and kick stop loudly, Dominic sings a new verse with a tune sounding close to a rap and uses it until the next pre-chorus, repeated in the same way of the first one, followed by the chorus too.
When the new chorus ends too, the synthesizers play a Dance beat, on which Laurence adds some vocals using a repetitive but also catchy tune.
The middle 8 part ends with other instruments playing high notes in the background and the bass, along with the kick, getting in again and the last chorus comes, ending the song with the only Laurence's vocals of the last line.

"'I Say Tonight' is one of the catchiest and danciest on the album. There's a lot of meaning in the lyrics too and it's about two guys that break their friendship because of a girl, but after she used them, they understand how much their friendship is important and just decide to have fun like they would do before. I wrote it with Will and he pretty much wrote it all by himself and I just added a few bits but it was perfect the same. Also, the fact that Dominic accepted to feature on the song makes it more amazing because I couldn't think of anyone else to sing his parts like he does."
