THERE’S A BREEZE IN THE AIR AND AN ALBUM ON THE SHELF!
February 5, 2012

UserPostedImage
- Me and my friend Monty, we're excited to buy the new Riot! album.

Hello everybody;

It’s Adam here, I hope the new year has started off well for the majority of you, it’s been a long drawn out process for the recording of our second album ‘Cradle To The Grave’ but we’re all really pleased with how the album has turned out, we like to think that it shows a pretty great growth from us as a band and we just cannot wait to get out on the road to tour in support of it, it’s gonna be pretty difficult for us to narrow down our Setlist but I’m sure we’ll think of something. The tour starts on February 15 and we’re touring in support of the incredibly talented Lily Abbott and will be joined by some more great acts too including, Metallic Swan, Scott H, Faking Our Own Destiny and Reported Failure.

In regards to information on singles, that’s still a little up in the air. We feel that the songs stand up better with the album as a whole but obviously we’re contractually obliged to release singles which means we will have something being released within the next month, still not quite sure which one yet. Anyway this is just basically a quick update to let you all know that the album is released today, we hope that you can all feast upon it and enjoy the work that we’ve created over the past three months

Thanks for listening!

- Adam Benjamin

INTERVIEW WITH AMY AND ADAM [CONSEQUENCEOFSOUND.COM]

UserPostedImage

They’re currently on tour with the likes of Lily, Book Of Love and Metallic Swan among others and having released their highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Cradle To The Grave’ just over a month ago they’ve been relatively quiet instead putting focus on their current touring commitments, but with no singles released from their latest album and rumours of a possible fall-out within the band, their fans are understandably a little nervous regarding the future of this young band, however Consequenceofsound.com managed to get a brief interview with two members of the band during their recent stop in San Diego, California and here’s how the meeting with Amy and Adam went.

It’s been quite a busy few months for you both, after finishing up the album you headed out onto the road in support of it quite quickly, how are you guys dealing with it, aren’t you tired?

Amy: Oh you know, we get by.
Adam: Seriously? We don’t deal with it, I mean look at us we’re totally zombified … well obviously Amy usually looks this bad anyway but me? I’m usually very very handsome but now … well I’m a little sad when I look in the mirror now, it’s not good
Amy: We get a pretty nice long break, after tonight’s show so we’ll be off for around a month or so and then Adam can finally catch up on his beauty sleep *shakes her head*

I see, and how has the tour went so far?
Amy: It’s a tour, you know? There’s no mythical beauty to touring, we quickly discovered that when we took on our first tour but yeah, it’s been good. All shows have been sold out so far and the new material is going down pretty well. We don’t have any complaints.
Adam: We enjoy it, I mean we’d just be sat at home playing with ourselves if we weren’t on tour.
Amy: Woaaah! Seriously Adam?
Adam: I’m sorry, I was trying to be funny. Of course we don’t do that *shifty eyes*
Amy: Yeah, that’s weird.

Haha, well that’s rather reassuring. Where are the other guys right now?
Amy: They’re … otherwise occupied right now.
Adam: Playing with themselves no doubt.

Okay, we read a report on Culture Uncut recently stating that there was some sort of difficulties within the band, do you care to reassure your fans?
Adam: We’re a teenage band, we’ve been close friends for a long time but of course there’s gonna be occasional difficulties. I mean Amy’s a vegan and we all love Bacon, do we try not to eat Bacon when Amy is around? Of course not, we hide slices of bacon all around the tour bus for Amy to stumble across and get all angry … See this bruise? That’s because of bacon.

So there’s nothing for anybody to worry about regarding the band’s future?
Adam: No, I don’t see why there should be any worries about that. There’s tension, those reports are true, it happens and right now, sure we’re in a tricky moment but we get onstage together for each show and try to give the best performance we’ve ever given, whatever happens away from the stage is forgotten once we step onstage, we’re professional enough but this break that we have will be great for us to spend a little time away to do our own things and then we can meet up again in a couple of weeks and sort out any issues before we head back out on the road.
Amy: Yeah. So long as we’re all breathing then the band will still be around.

Okay, and your yet to release a lead single from the album, what are the reasons for that?
Amy: There’s a few reasons for it really. Our first record was perhaps a little overshadowed by the singles and I don’t want us to be known as a band for great singles but great albums instead. Sure there will be one single released at some point from the album, I can’t see it happening anytime soon but there will definitely be a single.

Your label Nomad Records has recently gone through a major change which James Urie even spoke out against, did you agree with his reaction?
Amy: Yeah, it makes sense. The label has gone through a major change, when we signed they weren’t doing all that great but they put faith in us and it paid off not only for Riot! but also for the label. I love Vin and we owe a lot to him and the label, but if you talk to him about the label he’ll tell you some pretty cool stories. But you know, the label is under new management and it’s signed great people without question, sure it’s lost its identity a little along the way but it’s not a major issue. Would I have preferred the label to have remained the way it was when we signed then yeah, I’m not gonna lie, but it is what it is.
Adam: I think we’ve still got another two albums left under Nomad Records. So in the bands best interest all I have to say is, “I love Nomad Records, I love Vanity, I love Stephanie Fierce and I love Ryan Ross Hernandez.”

I’m sure they’ll be happy to keep you guys under contract. Your debut album has sold over 4 million copies worldwide and your follow up has currently sold just under 1.5 million copies, do you feel suitably happy with how the album went?
Amy: Without doubt. Following up our debut was always gonna be incredibly difficult but we’ve made a follow up that far surpasses our debut album in my opinion. Everything about ‘Cradle To The Grave’ is better than our debut album in my opinion, will it sell over 4 million copies? I’m not so sure, but that isn’t important, the fact is that our second album is a lot better, we don’t have so many of those short catchy pop-rock songs like Sweet Little Fantasy’s, All The Non-Believers and Something Old, Something New. But there’s a depth in our new album that we didn’t quite have with our debut album. We don’t need it to be number #1 or to outsell our previous work but there’s a growth between the two albums that I’m personally very proud of.
Adam: And not to mention the fact that they have this sexy rhythm guitarist featuring more heavily on the second album, that’s worth 1 million copies alone, right?

Well thank you both for your time, we hope to speak to you again soon.

WE’RE NOT MUSICIANS, WE’RE JUST TRAVELLERS WITH SONGS TO SING!

“Our duty, as men and women,
is to proceed as if limits to our own ability did not exist.
We are collaborators in creation”
– Teilhard de Chardin

Hello everybody;

It’s Amy Meyer here and I’m writing to you all from a Manhattan hotel, I’m sat next to a certain rhythm guitarist called Adam Benjamin. I think your all familiar with his work but did you know that he’s insanely boring, like wow so boring it’s kinda unreal, as we speak he’s entranced with a book in his hand called ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ and he’s been reading it for two days straight. Anyway, we’ve got a while off before we re-convene our touring in support of Lily Abbott in April. Justin, Jason and Nathan headed back out home to Vegas and they’ll be doing whatever it is they plan on doing over the next few weeks and myself and Adam have decided to stay out here in New York for a few weeks during our time off which has so far been a lot of fun, still trying to get to grips with that New York accent, they talk so fast out here but it’s fun nevertheless.

Anyway, this was just a brief update to let you guys know that we’re all still very much alive and hopefully we’ll see you all out on the road again in the next few months, I’d also like to take this as an opportunity to say a huge thank you to everybody who has took the time to come out and see us so far during the first part of the tour and also thanks to everybody who has embraced the new album, over one and a half million of you have bought the record and that still blows my mind considering it only feels like yesterday since we were all geeky little kids in high school and now we’ve sold over 5 million albums worldwide and we’ve played some of the greatest places in the world, so thank you all for embracing us.

I’ve just asked Adam for something to add and all he said was this, “And he sailed off through night and day, and in and out of weeks, and almost over a year to where the wild things are.” … I guess you can make of that what you will.
Thanks for listening;

Adam: Thanks Cassie, I dunno if we're really all that tight-knit, I'd much rather be as far from these people as possible buuut I have bills to pay and stuff so I don't really have a choice but to be in the band and pretend to like them all.

THERE’S A SONG IN OUR HEARTS AND A VIDEO ON THE SCREEN!
April 18, 2012

UserPostedImage
- I made a mini version of myself … turns out that it gets more attention from the ladies than the real version of me :(

Hello to all of you beautiful and very quirky individuals

It’s that member of Riot! In The Boulevard (you know, the one that wears the hats? … no not Slash … nevermind) I'm here talking to you from the magical world of the internet. I have good news for you all, well unless of course you hate the band which would beg two primary questions 1) “Why are you visiting our website, you troll?” and 2) “Just what reason do you have for living if you don’t have our music in your life?” But anyway I digress and hope that you forgive me for my discrepancy and therefore I will lead myself back to the topic in hand and the rather nice news that we have for you all, vis a vis the following, as the incredibly apt title of this blog suggests, we have new music for you to all feast upon, (although when I say new, I don’t actually mean new as such) But it is a single from our sophomore album ‘Cradle To The Grave’ however and it will be available on Sunday 22 April 2012, As stated it’s a track from our album, it’s our seven minute long track called, ‘Trying, Crying, Smiling And Dying’ and we hope that you enjoy the rather depressing nature of the song whether your emo-tastic or not.

But we don’t stop there, Oh no. Just for you lovely people with winning smiles and beautiful hair we have went through the rigorous ordeal of creating a music video for the single and for those of you that quite dislike Amy and feel that she should be left alone in an empty room with no doors or windows I think your rather going to like the music video which will be making its premiere on Friday’s episode of Music Box. So hopefully we have given what you’d consider to be good news to you all and let’s hope that you enjoy the video and the new single because we like to make our fans happy since we like smiles more than we like frowns.
That be all for now, Adam Benjamin bids you farewell young humans.
Thanks for listening

Adam Benjamin

Adam: Thanks Julia, I dunno if you should expect 5 singles from this album. I like to think that the album has done pretty well with not quite so much promotion as our debut, we'll no doubt have a few other promotional things in the next few months I'd imagine
