I can do some bloody lovely flapjacks. That's one of the few things I can do without needing to check a recipe. 250g butter, 480g porridge oats, 3 tbls Golden Syrup, 150g brown sugar, some crushed hazelnuts/pecans. Might try chocolate chips at some point but nuts are fine for now. Melt the butter in a pan with the Syrup & sugar, mix it all together until fully melted. Add in the oats, stir until it's all covered, add the nuts. Bung in an oven pre-heated to 200 C, for 15-20 minutes, & hey presto. I like the simplicity. Edited by user 02 April 2012 08:14:49(UTC)

Life starts to fly by once you finish Uni, you start looking for a job, then you have a place to live and can't leave it because of the rent etc etc... you get tied down by things... |

I did a bit of both of these options myself. I started uni and got all the mad partying and stuff out of the way when I was 17, did my first two years, and then opted to take a couple of years out to work and do other things and really take stock of things. After that I went back and finished the last two years of my degree. In the end it was probably the best decision I ever made. I came back having seen a bit more of the world, and having worked, and I was definitely a far more mature person. As such, I got a much better degree than I'm sure I would have if I had just ploughed through it all at the first time of asking and now I feel settled in my career at 24, having started at 23. If I had come out of uni at 21 and had done uni straight from school, I'm pretty sure I would not have ended up as the sort of person I am now, and I would not have been mature enough to live how I do now.
But hey, everyone is different :) |
