PICTURE PERFECT TOUR [APRIL: 26th - MAY 31st]

We are very pleased to announce that we will be headlining a tour this Spring in support of the new album 'Secrets'. We will be travelling around North America playing new tracks from the upcoming album along with the golden oldies!

The even happier part is that we will be joined by two bands that we adore! our name is stars are a fantastic indie-pop band who lured us in with their new EP which has been playing non stop in our ipods since we started listening to them! They are also a fantastic bunch of guys, and we are really excited to have them tour with us!
Also joining us will be a really great Californian alt-country/indie band Alaskan Sunrise. If you haven't heard of them yet, well.. I feel sorry for you! They have got some serious talent and are for sure going to make their mark on the scene! The guys from Alaskan Sunrise have been our friends for years, and their lead singer (Colby Wilson) actually helped produce our album! We know your going to love them as much as we do.
We also want to get over to Europe and the rest of the world too! We want to thank you for your continued support!

DATES WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON!

Jen: Wow, I just can't believe you guys are getting ready to release another album. It seems like you just came out the other day. Time sure does fly by when you're having fun. All the same, I'm pretty much looking forward to both the tour and the album boys. :)

TRACKS 1-5

GOODBYE TO YESTERDAY
Well, its a very unorthodox if you like opener to the new record. Initially we had a massive guitar riff in place for the opening of the album and this track but we replaced it in the end up with a warm acoustic melody. It's a really beautiful song about basically just forgetting the past and all the mistakes you've made.. just basically live for today, not tomorrow or yesterday. I had said all along in the writing progress that I wanted the album to be different, and I wanted to try new things and veer away from classic 4 verse chorus pop punk music that ultimately filled our last album. So, I finally got my southern tinged guitar solo in on this track and it sounds way different from anything we've ever done, but that's a really good thing! So yeah its basically acoustic and slow before it bursts into a climatic piano, guitar finish which really sets the scene for the album. It's a real good opener in the sense it covers all the moods you are about to feel whilst listening to this record.

SECRETS
Well this is the title track off the album and probably one of the more 'rockier' edged songs. It's got a great riff which Nate laid down on one of the first writing sessions, he was like "we need to get this in record". So we played about with it and eventually got it in there and it sounds large. I think this song is probably a good representation of the transition we've gone through. It feels mature, heavy and just really kills! It's basically about what it says on the tin, letting out all my secrets about a certain someone just praying for them to do the same in return. The album for me had to be very honest, or I wouldn't click with it... and if I couldn't click with it, how could the fans!? So this was part the reason we secluded ourselves from everything and anything during the writing process.

SUMMER SUN
This was the lead single from the album. We released it late March and it gained some solid airplay which was met with a mixed reception from our fans. There was those who loved it and the new direction, but of course and understandably there was those who weren't so keen and would prefer us to go back to TSTTS. But this is our sound now, we will never go back. But yeah the song is really upbeat and rocking. It's one of those ones you really just bobble your head too, even if you don't realize! It's about me reminiscing about the good times that I had during my teenage summer years.. which flew by so quickly! We stayed up late, getting drunk not caring what the future might hold, which was the best times in my life.

Familiar Feeling
With this track, we slow it all down a little. With a little guitar melody playing and soft vocals behind carrying us into the chorus where we have the bass drum following us. I wrote this song on the airplane on my way back to California after a short visit to Seattle. I met this amazing girl who I spent the whole week with but when I left we were still 'just friends'. I didn't want to take the risk of ruining a friendship. So you kinda hear me pour my feelings out here. It's got a real Southern feel to it, I think it's the guitar work Nate done but yeah, we explored another avenue with it and we're stoked with the way it came out. It portrays all the feelings and moods necessary, one of my favorites from the album and it will be the second single!

Holding On
This was actually the last addition to the album, it originally didn't make the cut but our label thought otherwise and told us to put it on the record. It's probably the closest track to bridging the gap between TSTTS and now and could of easily been on our past record. I originally wrote the song when I moved into my new apartment by myself, I found a bottle of rum in my bag and I got really hammered and wrote it! It's the only songs on the album that is actually about being in a relationship, as I haven't had very many happy or successful ones!

OOC: First, can I just say that the fonts you used were wonderful and the posters are getting close to stuff of GirlSpice material (because her posters are the Bee's Knees). I like how you did your own thing with the songs, and I hope it won't hurt your live rps.

Julian: So this is why Ryan cried on-stage the other night. He saw the beauty of what he was making and cried that he was bringing such a beauty into the world, a true artist through and through.

OOC: Wow, thank you! Ive still got a long while to go yet before I reach that level. Im also planning on posting the lyrics and descriptions to all songs on the album too, this is just part of the promoting process :) So hopefully ill have bundles to incorporate into live RP's.

Ryan: Thanks bro! It all got a little too much for me and I began weeping like a baby. Still though, felt pretty darn good. Thank you very much though and we hope that you will keep them thoughts for when we release this baby.

EXCLUSIVE PREMIER: Misery Loves Company - Familiar Feeling

UserPostedImage

Title: Familiar Feeling
Released: 22nd April 2012
Recorded: January/February 2012 (Gilbert, Arizona)
Length: 3:46
Genre: Alternative rock, Alt-country, Indie-rock
Writer: Ryan Williams
Producer: Colby Wilson
Label: Studio60

The music: Familiar Feeling is the greatest example of the next step Misery Loves Company have taken with their music. The song begins with with a small drum beat, backed with a steady bass drum before a souther styled guitar riff comes in and continues through the verses. Giving it a genre is difficult, you want to say pop-rock, but really it's difficult to call this song pop. Not because it's heavy, but just because it bares no resemblance to what you would classify pop, or mainstream music for that matter. It seems as though the band has gone all hipster and started making music they wanted to make, rather than making music to earn the cash (which they are guilty of doing on previous album). Ryan Williams voice sounds more powerful than ever as he sings raggedly through the verses with much help of a beautiful riff backed up by a light acoustic strum, which appears to be the most predominant instrument on the record this time round. As we are led into the bridge, Williams starts singing louder as the music stays at a low tempo, rather concentrating and absorbing his emotion. Misery Loves Company where always famous for their loud, catchy choruses. Nothing has changed here, apart from the fact it is not as 'in your face'. There is no build up to the chorus, the tempo speeds minimally and the band sound as though they are jamming their favorite song (which is a pleasant change from listening to 'make-me-money' tracks'). As Williams sings about a loved one who lives a long way from him, he sounds as raw and fresh as ever. The standout thing from the lyrics, is the fact Williams builds up hope during the verses, then draws back his vulnerable state in the hook. As the song progresses to the bridge, it dims down a little to the raw sounding electric guitar played by Nathan Barker, as he plays slowly over the top off an acoustic rhythm. They continue this for about 15 seconds before Williams comes back in with vocals. The song is a great indication of how the album sounds, at one point I had to pinch myself asking if this was the same poppy-punk band we first heard last year. One thing is for sure, im glad they have found they're true sound.. because it's extremely promising. [review: Absolute Punk]

Our words: With this track, we slow it all down a little. Like the reviewer mentioned, it really is a good indication for how the album sounds. Although it is a different sound, I still think it's a Misery Loves Company song. It has all the same aspects and features, we feel however that they are much better executed this time round.

Lyrics:

It was such a shock that he started to cry
It all began as he gazed into her eye
He never really knew why
Why it was so hard to say goodbye
The day turned to night
It was soon time to catch his flight
Too scared to plant a kiss
Afraid of what he would miss

The late nights we spent holding each other
Listening to the mixtape I made for you
It seemed like time stood still
The wounds are still yet to heal

So what, can I say, to make
You come to me some day
So what, can I do, to make
All of my dreams come true
They all started to say, that ive lost my way
That I never knew, never had a clue

The time had come its time to leave
She had came into his life like a thief
Stole his heart in such a short time
The act she committed is love’s biggest crime
She pulled him close told him to stay
Embraced their bodies began to sway
It was that all familiar feeling
That was going to require much healing

The late nights we spent holding each other
Listening to the mixtape I made for you
It seemed like time stood still
The wounds are still yet to heal

So what, can I say, to make
You come to me some day
So what, can I do, to make
All of my dreams come true
They all started to say, that ive lost my way
That I never knew, never had a clue

[Instrumental]

Come back to me, come back to me
Someday soon you will see
I will see, I will see you again
We will be, together again

So what, can I say, to make
You come to me some day
So what, can I do, to make
All of my dreams come true
They all started to say, that ive lost my way
That I never knew, never had a clue

Ryan: Well you guys get one of the rare Hernandez-Berry seal of approval (Berry-Hernandez? That kind of sounds like some sort of yogurt.) Anyways. I've been consumed with folk/country music since it's the direction I'm taking with my own music, so I've made a rule to not listen to any new music since I don't want any distractions, but I'm glad I gave this song a listen. I'm very impressed with the more mature sound you guys have gone with for LP number 2. And I much look forward to listening to the record once it comes out. Well done MLC. You have yourself a new fan.

Ryan: Thank you very much, Hernandez! Hearing such kind words from a legend like yourself is greatly appreciated. The past six month we've been devoured in rock/country music and the influences are clear on some of the tracks. It's almost impossible to compare both albums as they sound so different, but we're much more happy with this than last years debut. But once again, thank you Ryan, it means a lot!
