“Everybody goes through their own fair share of difficulties
Some hold their head up high and face the test of another day
Others become overpowered by the pain and hide themselves away
But no matter how you choose to deal with your problems
The promise that things will get better is what pulls us through
And in these moments when we find ourselves wading through the darkness
With the belief that a change of fortune is on the horizon
We discover something once more and we realise that we’re stronger than we thought we were
And finally we realise for the first time in a long time
We’re smiling again.”

Julian Morello (born March 16, 1988) is a budding record producer, writer, director and music scout. Born and raised in Berklee, California, his father was a construction worker and his mother owned a boutique store, he has three older siblings all of which are sister’s means that there was always a lot of attention on him from an early age. Fascinated by the performing arts from an early age that begin with movies and eventually changed to a love of music however Julian never had any intentions in acting or becoming a musician but instead preferred the behind the scenes process of these art forms which was enhanced further when he spent his summers at ‘Tisch School Of The Arts’.

During high school he also became a big fan of literature, most notably the works of E.E. Cummings, Edgar Allan Poe, John Steinbeck, J.D Salinger and Charles Dickens. He was also a fan of sports and played for Football in high school although he claims that he was never quite the jock type but instead claims that he was “caught between being charming and a nerd, a hermit and confident” and although he had plenty of friends he often spent a lot of time alone, reflecting on his own issues and his own decisions. He was always a high achieving student and after leaving high school, Julian attended Princeton University where he graduated last summer.

After leaving Princeton University in the summer of 2011, Julian took an internship at Studio60 Records and has recently been given a full-time role at the record label in a PR and scouting role at the label where he is expected to work alongside co-owners Greg Walls and Gia Rose. He also was hired as an engineering assistant on Alicia Lena’s 2011 album ‘Waking Up’ where he was given the opportunity to study the production roles closely as he looks to move into production in the near future.
In 2012 following his permanent role at Studio60 Records he began to take on other roles including songwriter as his first two writing credits for 'I'll Take The Bruises For You' by Benjamin Luna and 'Everybody Wants You' by Luke Striker became number #1 singles, he also worked as co-producer on Alicia Lena's 'Reign Over Me' and Luke Striker's 'Your Conflicted Heart'.
On top of these songwriting/production roles he was also handed the task of organising the 2012 'Field Trip Festival' which primarily centered around the line-up selection.

Glamazon: I don't know if I've been dropped or not from Studio60 for being a lazy bitch, but if not, then I'd like to say welcome! I left you a complimentary axe in the offices, use it accordingly. You sound like a wonderful new addition to the label, and I wish you luck with everything!

Julian: “Haha, only one week as an employee and I’ve already been given some dangerous weaponry, I think It’s safe to say that I’m gonna enjoy being part of the label. Thank you Victoria, is it weird to call you Victoria? Do I run the risk of a backstreet ambush if I call you by a name other than Glamazon? If so I apologize but nevertheless I thank you for giving me such a warm welcome and an axe.”

Glamazon: You may call me Victoria, I'm supposed to be giving you a warm welcome here! Of course I would never attack you in a dark backstreet for such a small thing. Well... I can't promise anything actually, the element of surprise is always fun, isn't it?

BLOG UPDATE: 15, APRIL 2012

“I would have given you all of my heart
But there’s someone who’s torn it apart
And she’s taken just all that I had
But if you want I’ll try to love again
Baby I’ll try to love again but I know
The first cut is the deepest”
- The First Cut Is The Deepest

Hello everybody, it appears this would be my first of hopefully many updates

For those of you who are unaware of me which I’d imagine is a large number, I’m a native of Berklee, California and I’ve been working hard over the past year in order to get a permanent role at a record label that I’m sure some of you are familiar with. I’m 24 years old and I feel like it’s time for me to start to put things into place, starting off with this new job and then there’s a whole bunch of other goals that I’d like to work towards, like most people of my age that still happen to be single I’ve dealt with my own share of difficulty and heartbreak shall we say and I still bare the scars of my previous relationship which I won’t get into right now but I’m working on things and I’m feeling pretty good right about now which is all that matters, you just gotta get back on your feet and dust yourself down, put the past in the past and try to build for a brighter more positive future, that’s what I think anyway despite how corny it may sound. But all in all things are looking quite great currently.

It’s certainly been a whirlwind couple of weeks for myself, I discovered that hard work certainly does pay-off as after spending a little under a year as an intern I finally landed what I guess I’d have to describe as a dream job at Studio60 Records. It’s already shaping up to be all that I expected and the perks of the job are quite remarkable too as I’ve managed to take in quite a bit of travelling, watching various concerts and festivals from New York City to Oklahoma, it’s been a great time being part of the label already.
I’ll be hopefully be continuing to attend a number of concerts in the next few months to hopefully attract some unsigned artists to the label but for now it’s all about the work with our current roster at Studio60 Records and the planned changes which are starting to get put into place.

As well as my work with the record label, I’ve got a number of other roles that I would like to dip into whenever possible which includes production and songwriting, I’ve already begun working with an unsigned artist on a track or two and I’ve got another few options waiting to be finalised at the moment, hopefully I can work around the schedule here at the label and push on a little further with the production/songwriting side of things in the near future, but as of right now I’m very pleased with how things are working out and hopefully you guys can hear more from me in the future.
But until then, I’ll see you around

- Julian

“BLOG#1: WE ALL HAVE OUR FLAWS, BELIEVE ME I’VE SEEN THEM”
October 1, 2013

UserPostedImage

Greetings from New York City;

Well it’s certainly been a while, hasn’t it? Evidently it appears that a lot can happen in one solitary year, I shall be updating you all on future plans of mine as well as talking about the previous year, hopefully I’ll successfully manage to avoid the phrase “emotional rollercoaster” and other such tired clichés, but do feel free to send me an angry response if I do happen to veer off into that territory as it is certainly not my intention.
How are you all doing? I do hope that you’re having fun, achieving all that you set out to achieve in whichever pursuits you find yourself venturing into. It’s been quite a summer, hasn’t it? I’m sure you all found something to soundtrack these past few months to, be it Vanity’s ‘Sound of Living’, Kato’s ‘Imprint’ or even Reported Failure’s ‘Rome’. It’s certainly been an enjoyable few months to say the very least, now I’m not saying that my summer was reminiscent to scenes from ‘Spring Breakers’, no of course not. I’ve been working hard on several projects but I’ve also had some great experiences along the way. Some of you may be aware that I left my role at Studio60 Records a little while ago which has given me the opportunity to try out some different things, I enjoy the label work and I’m glad to say that I’ll be joining a very dedicated and passionate team over at ‘Songs to Love and Die By’. But for me, my true passion lies in the creation of music, now sadly I don’t exactly possess the vocal and instrumental ability that my dreams would have me believe, but I’ve proven my ability in other areas of the creative process, namely production and songwriting.

This summer I have produced the work of Maddie Urie and more recently Riot! In The Boulevard, two incredibly talented acts that I hold nothing but admiration and deep-rooted envy for. For those of you that have followed my career in any real way, you’ll be aware that I’ve also written songs for many artists, including Aubrey Mikkel, The Stat Nerds and Cristina Lake and I continue to write songs obsessively, which both enhances and disrupts my daily routine, but such is life.
As I mentioned before, I have my hand in various different projects. There are many things that I’m working on, I’m building something special with my own charity called ‘Founding for Futures’ which I hope will benefit people a great deal, as I mentioned before, I have recently taken on a role with a new record label and hope to help unearth your next favourite act, I’m currently producing for a number of artists and I’m in the process of planning an annual end-of-year all-star concert. All of which have kept me very busy in recent weeks and months.

The hectic schedule of course plays a part on the personal aspect of life, those busy worker bees will have no doubt experienced the negative effect that such dedication to perfectionism has on relationships and friendships, they fall apart in the aftermath of late night raging arguments, I’m sure you’ve all been there at some point. This is true for myself, as a recently single man I find myself in a catch twenty two situation. I have no interest in going down the “Friends with benefits” route again, I’m forever searching for something challenging and much more real than that, but I find that I don’t quite have the time to get to know anybody well enough to “fall-for”, Of course we all have our flaws too, I’m not gonna sit here and list them all, but they’re there in an abundance, believe me I’ve seen them.

But once again I’ll be working hard, I will also be finding the time to write a regular blog to be posted here, it will of course be predominantly music-based but will no doubt include all kinds of topics, from the personal to the general. Whether you want to actually hear my own thoughts and insights is another whole thing, but I’m sure it won’t be too difficult to click on that tiny little red cross at the top right of your browser.
That’s all for now, thanks for reading;
- JM
