Excuses – Music Video

There are three different scenarios in this video and each one symbolizes sides of Julia’s life. The video starts with Julia walking on an older southern street, wearing cowgirl clothes, holding her guitar over her chest looking straight to the camera as she goes walking ahead, she doesn’t look behind.



You left me without excuses
At least I knew this would ruin

Moments before Julia starts to sing the first lines of the song, the scene changes to Julia playing a piano in a nightclub surrounded by neon lights, she is sited playing and singing the song first strophe, she does an incredible interpretation to the song’s first strophe, she’s wearing a long black dress her hair is on her shoulders.



I fought against my issues
I tried to make you win
But then, you just ran away

Julia sings the first chorus, while she is standing at the empty dance floor, looking through the camera, we barely can see her, expect her silhouette due to the colorful neon lights surrounding her and she puts so much emotion on this performance, when she is about to end the chorus she starts to cry.

Don’t think that I didn’t care
Don’t think that I’m ok
But I keep climbing the stairs
To save my life again

The camera focus on Julia’s face before the scene switches once more to that first scenario where Julia is walking, she’s still crying but more subtle then she was before, this scene Julia walks playing her guitar, as the day goes turning dark and the night falls behind her, when she is about to sing the second chorus again, the camera closes on her face once more to switch to another scene.

I cried so many nights alone
I jumped from this bridge to die
When you said we were done
I had no strength to fight
And you didn’t even say goodbye

The second chorus of the song is performed by Julia in a big stage where she is dancing ballet. She is dancing with a man but we cannot see his face, we only can see Julia spinning and jumping but she is not lip-syncing the lyrics of the song.



Please tell me that you loved me
Even if this is a lie
I rather drink the cold tea
Than burn my tongue and cry

When the last chorus of the song starts, the man left Julia lied on the ground of the stage as he leaves her there alone, the camera goes getting closer Julia, and we can see she lip-sync the final lyrics of the song as she cries and her makeup gets burred.

It’s just I thought I have found
The love of my life…

The camera gets far away from Julia, as she puts her head between her legs and it ends.
