 Matt Urie is a 20 year older singer, songwriter, and guitarist known for his time in the Pop-Punk band Suburban Sunrise. Now, 5 months after the demise of Suburban Sunrise Urie is back and better then ever with a new sound, and new EP already on the way!The young guitarist is back in the music and this time he is better then ever! Coming back now with a Pop-Acoustic/Pop-Punk sound and is bringing the music world something new, and fun. Matt is known for his role as the lead guitarist and his short spans as lead vocalist. Matt has said several times that life goes on and that its time for him to move on past what he calls it the Suburban Sunrise "era." And now with Matt back in the drivers seat its time to see what he can bring as he works on his debut EP "Where I've Been." His debut EP grabs inspiration from many old artists such as The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and The Ventures but with his own modern twist. The EP is set to be released on May 20th and at the moment it is going to be released independently by Matt himself unless a label picks him up. The album is currently in the production stage and the first single will be announced within the next two weeks. This is something that everyone should be excited about for it is the start of something brand new that no one would have expected from this young musician
Matt was born and raised in San Diego California with both his parents, brother James, and sister Maddie. He began playing guitar when he was 13 and started a band with his best friend and former Suburban Sunrise bassist Nick Johnson. The band that the two formed became what is know known as Suburban Sunrise. When Matt was still in High School SS released it's first EP titled "Lost In Your Arms" and shortly after the release the band lost its lead guitarist and singer. After the loss of the singer Matt decided to show off his vocals and take the lead as the bands main vocalist. As the bands main vocalist they released 2 albums before adding vocalist Nicole Woods who was featured on three of the bands 6 albums. In December 2011 SS vocalist Nicole Woods was killed in a car crash and shocked the entire music world. After the death of the young vocalist Matt attempted to continue the legacy of SS but failed miserably and found himself working a normal day job at a local clothing store in the mall. Not satisfied enough with what he was doing with his life the young(20) musician decided to try and make a return to the music world. Well the answer is absolutely nothing. I got a job working a the clothing store “H N’ M” at the mall by my house in San Diego because I’ve had to pay the bills! The last time the majority of people saw me they we’re yelling at me in a deadly rage because of how quick I attempted to get the band back in the drivers seat after Nicole passed away. After looking back on the situation I can honestly say that I reacted in a completely immature way and should have just taken some time off to cope with what had happened. I can honestly say that I feel like a complete jack ass about it. So musically! I have decided to give it one more shot! This is my make it or break type of deal! I’m going to be making some acoustic/relaxing jam’s for you guys all to listen to. The style is definitely different then what Suburban Sunrise was because since we’ve last met I’ve matured a little bit and had a birthday! I am now at the old age of 20! I feel so old! When Suburban Sunrise came onto the scene I was only 18 and I almost feel like I’ve done it all when I really haven’t! I still have so much to accomplish! One of those things I need to accomplish is to get a number 1 song on the charts! Hopefully this new project will help me reach that goal! A few of you might be asking if I’ll be playing any Suburban Sunrise songs with this new stuff and I have decided that I’m only going to do 1 SS song, which is the song “Vulture” which hit number 3 on the chats! The reason I don’t want to play a lot of those songs is because its time to grow up and move on. Because as people say, life goes on. I am still to this day incredibly proud of the small success that Suburban Sunrise was and I think about all the things that, that band accomplished. Through the hard ships and great times it always seemed like the fans were always there for us and they kept us going! I miss being on the road and I miss all my old friends! I’ve noticed a large amount of new faces in music and I am excited to meet all of you and I really hope that I can reconnect with some of my old friends! My first song will be out as soon as possible and I can not wait for everyone to hear it! Love you guys and I hope that your all as excited for the future as I am!

Hey everyone! I'll be announcing the first single off the EP and releasing the album art on Tuesday! The recording process is going so smoothly and the songs are turning out great! To be honest I've been a little surprised with how well this has been going! I'm going to be making a few phone calls in hopes of getting a collab or two on this thing! Hope you guys are as excited as I am!
