Shantel: Aw stop Rocsi, I've been hungry for this for a long time. When you lose everything your first go around, if your blessed with the opportunity to do it again, you better go hard. And that's what I'm doing. You work your ass off if your given another shot so you make sure you don't run into a wall, like the first time. Plus, I been through so much in my life I kind of look at it as another obstacle I can conquer.
Rocsi: What do you mean by losing everything? What happened?
Shantel sighs and smiles a bit
Shantel: I love reminiscing about the past when your on your grind doing your thing like how I'm doing. Like two years ago, I was coming out, I had a nice little build up and buzz two successful singles and I was signed to Monk on Fire Music. Some of yall might remember them...but anyway, we just weren't seein eye to eye. I'm not gonna stay no where I'm not happy. Straight up. Alot of chicks and guys in the game want it so bad that they forget about their morale's as a person and what they want. So they got rid of me, fine. What people don't know is, when you sign contracts its hard to get out of them, it took some time, alot of time but I'm back!!

Rocsi: Yes, you certainly are. Your with Tric Jam now, how do you like it there?
Shantel smiles
Shantel: I love it. It's where I need to be. I think if they were around when I first came out I would be on like... my 2nd or 3rd album. But it's all good, everything is working in my favor lately and I'm really happy with the way things have been going.
Rocsi: You came back a couple of months ago, and I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty shocked with your song "Y.O.L.O". It wasn't exactly what everyone was expecting, what made you choose to go with that song?
Shantel she laughs a bit
Shantel: Hehe! First of all! I love that song Rocsi! But I'm not gonna lie, I hit up DJ Cloud because for some reason I just wanted to make a dance song, I mean, it good to try out new things. I don't want to be a one dimensional artist and plus, I knew this song would get me noticed, to tell you the truth, I was gone for more than a year. I sat down and thought so hard... release this rap track, release this dance track, which would work better for me, which would make heads turn. I went with Y.O.L.O, released it independently it soared to the top 10, signed with Tric Jam and it's been strong ever since! So that just shows you gotta go with what ya heart is telling you, not ya head. My heart was telling me to release this mainstream track, but in my head I really actually wanted to release the rap song...but I'm really happy with my decision.
Rocsi: Releasing the song however, really split your fans into two audiences. You got your more mainstream fans, and you got your urban fans, does that ever worry you?
Shantel: Never..I don't want people to expect me to give em all this pop and then rap. No. I'm a rap artist, I can sing, I can be a pop star..but I'm a rap chick. So if I do, do the whole pop thing, it's obviously gonna have to incorporate my rap style. Y.O.L.O is a different story, I released that song to get me back on the map, love the song but it's not who I am, I cannot lie, it'll be on the album, but probably as a deluxe edition bonus track. I'll tell the truth. And I think people thought I was changing my style when I released that song.
Rocsi: And you surely proved that when you released....Who Want It....
Shantel bursts out laughing and the crowd goes "oooooooo", they all began laughing

Rocsi: Well first let me congrdulate you on the song reaching the top 10 at #8 this week. It's not often a hardcore track like that does well on the charts but ...I mean seriously girl, you went hard on that track, its hardcore. You went from the sweetness in Y.O.L.O to the serious in Who Want It? But, you know what I'm gonna ask next
Shantel rolls her eyes playfully

Rocsi: What has been happening with Allura Silk?! Still going at it! What's been going on??
Shantel laughs but then turns serious
Shantel: Easy, because I just don't like her. Yeah whatever, stuff was so called squashed and I really don't need to give an explanation because no matter what there will always be two sides of the story and I'll just let my music do the talking but basically what was suppose to be squashed you know.. we was alright..the whole thing happened with me leaving Monk on Fire Music AFTER we squashed it. She had the nerve to run around on radio stations and Angie Martinez knowing my situation and make a joke about her not knowing who I am and just straight up trashin me. What made me angry was, was that she KNEW, she KNEW that I was in a effed up situation and I couldn't get back at her. There plenty of times she takes these little subliminal shots in her music and all of that punk nonsense so I said "alright, she's not gonna even see it comin"... released the track right after Y.O.L.O, and Who Want It hit her like a train cause I know she didn't see it comin', but she shoulda knew I wasn't done with her, and I'm not. She talks about this battle we had, we never had a battle? No one can't won, we have one now.
Rocsi: You scarin me here Shantel! *Laughs*. So it's not over? The single is suppose to be on your mixtape Watch The Throne..
Shantel: It's definitely not over. Like, you release one E.P and your the best who has ever done it? She still hasnt had an album out. Everything is sales with her...bla bla bla my EP sold how much? My EP was so successful, my EP was this, was that. Chick its not all about sales it's about the art too. The EP gig is starting to run out. She's been riding with this for so long, the EP was wack and it just shows that she's not really a artist. You might sell because at the time you were the only chick doin it.. I'm here now, it's not gonna be that easy.
Rocsi: She released Kill A Ho, I think it was called, what do you think of the song ?
Shantel: I haven't even listened to it. I stopped listening to her after the E.P, I gave it a chance, and her song Bananaz ruined it all. And plus, she should call the song Suicide because the only person she's talking about being a hoe is herself, and she's so called killing "her". But like I said, let our spit game do the work.
Rocsi: Tell us about Watch The Throne..
Shantel: It's my mixtape, the first single was Who Want It? Basically expect some really hard edge hip hop. It's gonna be the leading up to my album, but the mixtape gives me the freedom to curse as much as I want and just literally take care and get rid of some unfinished business. I've also got a killer collaboration on the mixtape that everyone's just gonna love. And then after the mixtape, it's time for the album.
Rocsi: Can we have a release date for the Mixtape?
Shantel: I'm shooting to a late May release, or maybe earlier who knows.. Still recording a couple more tracks. But you'll be seeing a few tracks appear online. This mixtape is gonna be crazy! Can't wait to get it out.
