ALLURA SILK PROMOTES NEW SINGLE "KILL A HO" & NEW MEXTAPE ONE WOMAN ARMY ON THE ANGIE MARTINEZ SHOW ON HOT 97  Angie Martinez: So the last time we had you in the studios it was last year. We missed you!
Allura Silk: I missed you guys too! (Says in a very loud voice). I love you guys here at Hot 97 studios. You’ve always treat me like family when I come here and you play my music.
Angie Martinez: Well a lot has changed since we last saw you. You’re a platinum selling recording artist now. You have a record deal. Tell us what’s up?! How’s the transition from going from underground Mixtape rapper to Platinum Selling recording artist?
Allura Silk: You know there really hasn’t been much of a transition. I think that my main focus is to always come out with good quality music. I want to be the best at what I do, and that takes time. It takes time creating a vision and perfecting that vision, that skill. So I don’t try to out due myself every time there’s a new song to record for a Mixtape or an album. I think that is what has made the transition a rather easy one.
Angie Martinez: Did you ever expect the In My Zone E.P to be so big?
Allura Silk: Hell no! Angie when I tell you that was so unexpected. To come out the gate and have people respond to it like that was amazing. The agenda has always been since I signed with Tric-Jam that I would release an E.P before the album, as like a prelude to show you what’s to come. So I was taking my time with the E.P and I realized how long I kept the label waiting so we both kind of rushed the end product. But I knew I had something big, but not that big on my hands. So I have to continue to thank my family Tric-Jam for helping live my dreams and the fans for supporting me.
Angie Martinez: Well one thing hasn’t changed since you were last here.
Allura Silk: (Starts tapping her nails against the table and smiles brightly). And what is that Angie?!
Angie Martinez: You still beefing with Shantel Stiletto.
Allura Silk: See, what had happened wasssss…
(Everyone in the studio begins to laugh hysterically)
Allura Silk: What had happened was. She was messin with the kid, when the kid was just trying to help her out. That’s all Angie.(Allura Silk says in a PIMP voice)
(The laughter continues in the studio)
Angie Martinez: But I thought you guys squashed it.
Allura Silk: No, seriously I thought we did to. We went at it. And the best woman won. Before I signed my deal with Tric-Jam, I spoke to this girl when I heard she was coming back from the grave, cause none of us know where the hell she disappeared to. I congratulated her, I said congratulations on everything with coming back. And I even left the possibility on us working together one day. You know trying to do her a favor. Hehe. Fast-Forward months later, I sign my deal, I release my E.P, I’m doing what I have to do. Now all of a sudden she wants to come out the woodwork attacking me. Like, no we don’t do that. Get your life. Where do you come from? I never purposely attacked this girl, she knew what she was doing.
Angie Martinez: So now you want to take the girl Stiletto off and Kill her we hear. You just released your first single off the mixtape, Kill A Ho (With Her Stiletto).
Allura Silk: You know we call her shoes Cheaplettos. When she gets her bread up then talk about Stiletto’s but until then, there Cheaplettos in my book.
Angie Martinez: So you released Kill A Ho. We play that in the studio all day. And you are about to release your Mixtape, One Woman Army. Can you tell us more about that?
Allura Silk: Yes, One Woman Army is still a pre-lude to the album. I say its one of my final mixtapes, at least for a while. But everything on here is bananas. It’s coming out on May 22nd. So may sure you go pick that up.
Angie Martinez: We heard you were thinking about not doing another mixtape after this.
Allura Silk: Yeah, I am sooo focused on my album right now. This is my first album, my debut to the world. It’s my baby. So I want everything to be perfect. So for me to do that, I plan on focusing on that at not releasing anymore material after One Woman Army until the album drops this year. I will do another mixtape again. But I said I want going to do anymore mixtapes after this until the “hottest mc’s” in the game sell millions of records.
Angie Martinez: Why do you say that?
Allura Silk: Simply because, people in the Hip-Hop culture try to attack Allura Silk yet, ya’ll ain’t buying the hottest MC’s in the game album. Why the hottest mc’s in the game ain’t selling 2 million albums?
Angie Martinez: Well if you wait for them to sell that you ain’t never doing another mixtape. But switching gears to your album, have you come up with a title yet?
Allura Silk: I have a working title for the album, yes. I can’t mention it now, but if I don’t get inspired anymore when it comes to titles then that will most likely be the title.
Angie Martinez: Do you have a release date yet or which part of the year do you plan on releasing?
Allura Silk: Fall definitely. Specifically when, I don’t know. I am shooting for a November album release though. That’s if everything works out perfectly. But you will definitely, have the first official single and video for the album in July. I 100% know that for a fact. So July is when we begin wrapping up and begin promoting the record.
Angie Martinez: Do you people understand you and your music.
Allura Silk: That’s a good question. But no! I don’t think they get it just yet. And everyone wants to know what crawls under my skin and that’s one thing that really gets to me. I want people to understand me and get what point I am trying to get across. Do I think people are beginning to understand me? Yes. But I have a ways to go. I have a whole other audience of people who don’t know who Allura Silk is or what she stands for. So that is my main goal, to have everyone on the same page with me.
Angie Martinez: Allura it was nice having you here again. And don’t stay away so long next time.
Allura Silk: I won’t I will be here when the first single drops. I love you guys!
