22/04/2012 – ANNOUNCEMENT – SINGLE/ALBUM/TOUR

AB vocalist James Elliot has just released the following statement:

It’s now official, Blackout is complete and we are 100% happy with the way it’s turned out! The mastering of the album went a lot quicker and smoother than any of our other releases purely based on the fact we were practically in control of this record and our producer sat back and let him told us what to do, like we said before when we gave everyone the update halfway through the recording process, G1 has been incredible and I can’t think of any reason why we wouldn’t work with these guys again.

It’s with this news we now have a fair idea of when the album will be released, and that information will come very soon, however we do have some very exciting news that in all fairness does coincide with the events of Wednesday.

Incredibly, within three hours of tickets going on sale, our London date of the tour in Camden Underworld sold out, we are currently trying out hardest to upgrade to a bigger venue for more tickets to be released, failing that we will be adding another date to the tour, and even more amazingly our Leeds date took little under an hour to sell out, this is the first time we are playing Leeds since 2008, and it’s so great to get the chance to go back, I wish he had been able to go back sooner but the opportunity never arose, now it has to see the tickets fly out like that is amazing, unfortunately we have not been able to upgrade the venue or find a suitable extra date but hope to return sooner rather than later.
The tour takes place in June with our new friends in 8 Mile Rock who are flying across the pond to join us as our main support act and we’ve had nothing but thanks from fans for bringing them to the UK with us, it’s really exciting.

So we’ve decided to release this information sooner rather than later, that we will be releasing a never before heard song, our first single entitled The Kids Who Knew on May 7th, and it will be premiered before hand.
This is one of, if not my favourite song on the album because it means so much to everyone in the band, it’s really just a song that even if everyone hates I’ll still be prod of until the day that I die and that I want to play live every night of every tour for the rest of our career.

The album release date will come soon, thank you all so much for your continued support.

- James

BLACKOUT RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED - TRACK-BY-TRACK COMING SOON.

After months of waiting, Arizona Blue have finally announced their release date of their debut album Blackout.

After the uncertainty from fans and critics that the album would not be released before their UK tour in June, the band have confirmed that it will in fact be released just over a week before hand.

“We really wanted to have an idea sooner as to when Blackout was supposed to drop” guitarist Dan Johnson said.
“Everyone’s been so concerned we weren’t going to release it in the summer as planned and even we had doubts at times but we’ve known for about a week now that the album was going to be released before our UK tour.”

The 10-track debut album will be released in online and in-stores on June 4th.

In the statement Johnson went on to release information that a track-by-track from the band will be released soon, as previously stated by James Elliot the albums lyrics are very personal and each tell a different story from multiple members of the band, if the details of the stories behind the songs will be talked about in depth is still unknown.

(ooc: what a day for my browser to decide the forum doesn’t exist, the day of the first single!)

Title: The Kids Who Knew
Artist: Arizona Blue
Album: Blackout
Length: 4:33
Recorded: G1 Production, Bath, UK
Release date: 07/05/2012

About

The Kids Who Knew was written as a message to the youth of today, who, according to vocalist James Elliot “seemed to have lost their way.” The song was inspired by various crimes and gangs in his local area in Cardiff, Wales and is also a message to those who took part in the riots that started in his hometown of London in July 2011.

The song is full of questions, the main one being the first line of the chorus.
“Whatever happened to the kids who knew?” is that question.

With an echoing guitar overpowered by the drums in the introduction of the song, one thing is clear, Arizona Blue haven’t forgotten their roots, their hard rock/alternative background shines through all through the song, the perfect blend of the hard rock musical and vocal elements and the newer hardcore punk elements only seen in the last year or so, especially the vocals which provide the perfect kick in the chorus.

With the band showing no signs of going soft, after the calm, echoing chords ringing behind the standard toms & snare beat, it’s fairly predictable yet still enjoyable when a double hit of the snare gives way to the main riff to come through, with the guitars in full swing accompanied by the bass, James Elliot’s powerful voice rips through the song, showing how much of a message this really is.

Although the guitars are heavy, there’s an essence to this song that makes you want to bounce around the room instead of throwing your fists around in a pit like a lot of Arizona Blue songs do, even when the anger and aggression that the screams that are blurted out in the chorus provide, you can’t help but feel good, because this is a song that by even listening to the studio version, you can tell how much this means to vocalist James, there’s a kind of raw emotion behind the vocal line that stands out and is in all fairness unheard in previous releases.

Blackout is released June 4th 2012.

(ooc: This has been rushed as I lost the original! I'll get a better version up in a couple of days when I have the time to finish it haha! But I needed something)
