The bartender returns with Serenity's drink and the Vodka, which Vincent peers out silently.

While in the bathroom, Serenity uses the bathroom and washes her hands. When she's finished, she looks into the mirror for a while trying to fix her clothes to look her best.

Johnny Johnson slowly walks into the bar and sits down with a devilish grin plastered across his face. He orders a water though, not wanting to be too overly dangerous. His son, Baron, walks to the bar and also sits down. He looks worried.
"I know what you're planning. You can't do it, Dad."
Johnny leans back and takes a drink of water.
"I can. I have too."
Baron frowns.
"You've already had your swan song. You let The Rockers go a long time ago and you've never had a problem with it until now. What's going on? What's different?"
"Old friends. Things are changing and I have to be a part of it. I can't let it go, Baron."
"No! You have too. You have nothing left to prove, Dad. Let it go, please."
"You know Baron, all I ever had in my life was something to prove. I need this, plain and simple. I've been patient, sitting on my ass telling myself that producing other peoples albums and watching other people play was enough for me to get by but it's not working anymore. I need the stage Baron. I need it."
Baron looks at his father and for the first time sees that he's broken. Baron had always believed his father to be invincible in spirit and capable of adjusting, but like Baron, Johnny needed to play music. It was all he had.
"If you're going to do this...please be careful. It's dangerous and I can't bare the thought of what could happen..."
"I'll be fine. I'm well rested."
"Listen to me, Dad...I can't lose you...I've lost too much."
Johnny could only look on with pride at the son he'd raised.
"I promise...I will be careful."

A couple hours later, three familiar faces enter the bar and sit around John. Without saying a word they all smile and clink their beers together.
"I never thought we'd be sitting here again." said Randy Wilde, former lead guitarist of The Rockers.
"I never thought we'd all live this long." said Garry Roberts, former drummer.
Johnny smiled at them both and then turned to his brother, Joey.
"Well?" He asked.
Joey smiled back at him and placed his hand on John's shoulder.
"Are you sure you want to do this? What will Baron say?"
John shook his head and looked at the light on the ceiling for a while before responding.
"I've spoken with Baron already. He's alright with it, or at least he understands it. It's all up to you guys now."
"I had to fight with my wife to let me come here, I suppose I could fight a bit more to play one more time." Gary Robert said with his casual grin.
Randy put his hands up and laughed.
"I'm always free boss, you know me."
John and Joey shared one final look that spoke volumes without any spoken words. They all knew what they were going to do and they all were ready for it.
"To the music...may it play forever." |
