ARIZONA BLUE SPEAK ABOUT UPCOMING SINGLE & 2012 SO FARThe 5-piece Talk Single, Album, America and Life. James Elliot tracking the vocals for Blackout
With only one month until the release of Arizona Blue’s anticipated debut album Blackout, it’s clear that the band and fans are excited for June 4th 2012.
Not only are the five members of the band: James, Liam, Lewis, Dan and Matt excited to release their first full length album, which has been a dream of theirs since the band formed in early summer 2007, but vocalist James Elliot says that he’s excited to see what the album will bring them in terms of popularity outside of the UK.
“Well it’s only May now but 2012 has been an insane year so far for us, it seems like ever since we come off that short break at the end of 2011 things just went insane!” the bands front man said.
“It was almost as if taking a few months off made us more popular! We started writing the lyrics for the album almost two years ago and then we finished writing at the end of January, at the end of February we were in the studio recording and finished it at the start of April, people will insist we rushed the process but we’d been planning it for so long we knew exactly what we wanted, and because we had friend that recorded in G1 before us, we half knew what to expect.”
“While recording the album we saw a huge rise in popularity when we decided to release World Of Fire, our promo single for download when it was only available to stream online before hand, we saw the single downloaded over 50,000 times over the last month, which is just ridiculous considering how small of a band we were, and in some aspects, still are!”
“It’s not only that though, we’ve seen the success of that single open more doors for us and we’ve had the honour of being booked to play the Total Annihilation Festival in New York, which is a dream come true, playing in New York has been a dream of mine since I was only ten years old, so to know that in less than a month I’ll be on a stage in that city is still something that I pinch myself about, and I feel that if we go down well in that little 30 minute slot, we’re going to have a huge opportunity to get into the states and start touring, I was so excited to find out that retailers across Northern America are going to be selling our new single which is released on Monday, good sales over there may see them selling the album and then it’s definite we’ll be able to tour over there this year!”
Although the only tour plans set in stone is the appearance at TA6 this month and the 9-date UK trek which is selling out fast, the band are determined to tour until 2013 after the album is released.
“We love playing shows, it’s as simple as that” Matt Cole adds.
“It’s almost as if we want to leave our comfort zone so we can go to different parts of the world and play to people who have never heard of us, and that’s exactly what we’re expecting in New York, we’ll have some fans scattered across the room but the majority of the crowd won’t even know where Cardiff is and that’s exactly what we want to change, we want people to know Arizona Blue and to know our background, we want the fans, not the money, the money is a bonus. Yes, this is our jobs now and we’re planning to take this band to the next level, the energy surrounding this album is just feeding our determination. We want to make a mark on the music industry.”
When the first single from the album, The Kids Who Knew is released on Monday, fans will have a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming album, the band have also confirmed that a track-by-track on the album will be released next week in addition to the single.
Blackout is released on June 4th 2012, the band tour the UK from June 13th.
