www.STEPHANIEFIERCE.com WORLDWIDE PREMIERE Song: GANGSTAR feat. VANITY & THE ROCKERS Written by: Stephanie Fierce, Vanity, Johnny Johnson Produced by: Stephanie Fierce Instrumentation by: The Rockers Background & Lyrical Content "Gangstar" feat. Vanity & The Rockers is a song recorded by American recording artist Stephanie Fierce for independent release. It was entirely written by Stephanie Fierce, Vanity and Johnny Johnson. The song however was produced by Stephanie Fierce. The song is to contain influences of dance-pop and disco music. Overall "Gangstar" is an uptempo R&B and funk song, in which Stephanie Fierce demonstrates guttural-husky vocals while using her whistle register. Having a born retro nature, the song is built on a 1980s-inspired dance beat but has an overall contemporary treatment, and is instrumentally driven with old school synthesizers, drum kits, electric guitars, and horns. The overall feeling of the song is described as "uplifting" and "flashback like" but groovy enough to dance to. "I want people to have a song for the summer, but a song that has a message than can uplift people. While someone may be having the time of their life, someone out there is feeling depressed and down and this song will hopefully cheer them up. I personally wanted some of my closest friends to be on the record so I asked Vanity and The Rockers and they gladly joined. It's very exciting stuff"- Stephanie FierceThe song will be released to mainstream radio and digital outlets on May 27, 2012. A music video will be shot in the matter of three consecutive days starting May 22, 2012 and is directed by Stephanie Fierce. Vanity and The Rockers all make an appearance in the video. Cameos are made by "Rakoon", "Helle" and "Nicolas Brown". The song and will be used for the "Diary of a Pop Sinner" film coming out in the fall. Composition The song begins with a 80's themed synthesizer being played, followed by an old school drum kit and a wailing guitar teasing the listener. Then with all the instruments together the song continues full force with Stephanie Fierce's guttural vocals following behind with her opening verse. The lyrics dedicate an uplifting message to the decades of 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. After verse one, the instrumentation which is provided by "The Rockers", develops even further when horns join in and the chorus which is sung by Stephanie Fierce kicks in. Once Vanity's verse begins, the instrumentation continues in repetition but this time with more room for listener's feedback. In Vanity's verse, she also dedicates an uplifting message, but this time to freaky people, fashion victims, pregnant women, and homosexual; all which reflect to her personal life, as well as the life of Stephanie Fierce. Her vocals could be described as passionate and forceful; making Vanity's attempt at R&B vocalization a success. Once the chorus comes to a repeat, the instrumentation grows even more present whilst Stephanie Fierce vocal range grows to full force, giving the listeners a climax feel. This puts emphasis on the lyrics and gives listeners the idea of hope. The sound settles a bit when Johnny's verse comes in for the bridge. In his verse, Johnny talks about the hardships of getting to the top and how people will often mistaken it without hard work. his verse is then followed by a spicy electric guitar lick as all vocalist join together as a chorus group and sing the chorus finale. During this portion, Stephanie Fierce's background vocals are layered, in which her vocal range propels beyond measure on her "Ohhhhhh's". All of this leading to the outro where Stephanie Fierce harmonizes her own voice in a soprano form. The song ends with with a wailing guitar exiting out as laughter and the following is heard from Vanity: "That freakin rocked sis" LyricsStephanie Fierce:
