Title: Let It GoFormat: Digital DownloadRecorded: 2012Genre: Dance-PopLength: 3:48Label: Studio60 RecordsWritten By: Isabel MerjosProduced By: Giovanni Rose-Hilton, Isabel Merjos Song Background"Let It Go" is a Dance-Pop song which also displays hints of R&B, Pop-Punk, and Pop-Rap. The song was written by Isabel, produced by none other than Giovanni Rose-Hilton, and recorded in early 2012 between Los Angeles and New York City. The song was officially released on June 8th on the singers official website.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, Merjos expressed the need for this song to be recorded and released. Quote:"Gia had the melody and the beat, all that was needed were some lyrics which I provided. We wanted to make a song that had one of those feel-good vibes to it, it was care-free and just one of those songs you can listen to over and over again. I used this as the perfect time to write and address the rumors that have been swarming between me and Kato and Joey. It was one of those iffy things where you didn't know if you should really say it but I just felt it was getting out of hand and something needed to be said. I wrote the lyrics as if It were a direct response to Kato's single, "Hurt Me Bad", which I heard and have no problem with. I just knew that I had to say something and obviously saying it in a song, to me, was a very obvious choice. The concept of the song is me telling everyone that there's nothing wrong with me and Joey's relationship, we've been together for almost a year now, we're happy. We aren't close to breaking up, I'm not cheating, he's not cheating, we're a plain couple really. The other part of the message was that I'm trying to cut those relationship ties with Kato. It's like yes I probably was very mean and rude about the break up before, it just wasn't a good time and everything, but still I'm happy so you should accept that and move on. Basically it's like a break up song but it's also a relationship song but it's a happy one if that makes any sense." Gia goes on to talk about the recording process and picking the single to release.Quote:"I work with Izzy like I do any of my clients. I give them basically complete control and freedom and I offer opinions and help them turn a song into a hit. Izzy was working on her album and she was telling me about this song she wanted to do. I made some beats for her and we ultimately picked this one. She started writing lyrics, it was literally just coming out of her mouth and onto the paper. It took us 4 days to record the single which is really amazing if you don't know. She was voicing her opinion like she always does and we just created this. She wanted to have a sort of summer/dance/feel-good record and this was it. It's a song about breaking up and letting go but it's not depressing or sad you know? She told me she didn't know if she should release this as her next single and I thought she would be crazy if she didn't! It was one of those songs that just came easy to her and really tells a story without giving away too much." Song Description"Let It Go" received positive reviews after it's release by critics who commented on Izzy's powerful vocals in the song and the energetic vibe in the song. Despite it's title, it's a very upbeat song with a very catchy chorus. Isabel's last single "Sleep At Night" allowed her to explore a more somber, R&B side without the usual dance-like feel. This time Izzy revisits her home ground with this Dance-Pop single. Izzy even teases us with more of her short slick flows during the Bridges. Without the usual auto-tune used in Dance songs, Izzy decides to do this one with natural vocals, no morphing of her vocals at all and it works well with her. The almost bubbly song features laughter and giggling heard in the background which is known to be the singer herself. Culture Uncut calls it "an energetic, uptempo blend of mainstream Pop and Hip Hop that mixes together to make a great Pop song for the radio." and "one of the happiest songs out right now without the cheesy, conveyor belt lyrics." Many predict this will be Izzy's next hit single and another notch on her hit-making belt. [Verse 1] Yeah, Yeah Ohh Take your time, slow it down, let me talk to you Tell you all of the things that You always do Oh, Oh Love when you say beautiful Run your hands through my hair, you can make me see All the things you can call Whenever you're with me Oh, Oh Don't you know just what you do?
[Bridge] Now I know that it's only been a few months Won't say you got me sprung just my full love Other boys wish that they had my attention Breaking their necks you know, it's so ridiculous Yeah, Yeah So don't you ever doubt me-e-e-e
[Chorus] So don't you ever doubt this We're more than just a small kiss Now you know, so they know That I won't give up our relationship They'll never get to take me My love is not that easy Now you know, so they know That I won't give up our relationship
(That's right, Let go)
[Verse 2] Here's the truth, the whole truth, nothing else but it Keep on trying hard but we won't let them cause a split Oh, Oh Can't they tell that we are true? I'll admit we had fun, don't you get me wrong No excuse, find the clue Written in this song Yeah, Yeah Time for you to let it go-o-o-o-o-o
[Chorus] So don't you ever doubt this We're more than just a small kiss Now you know, so they know That I won't give up our relationship They'll never get to take me My love is not that easy Now you know, so they know That I won't give up our relationship
(That's right, Let go)
[Rap] Had to break it down Since you couldn't figure out All those feelings that I had Are gone now Some say I'm harsh, some say I'm mean I think more polite since I'm keeping It clean Don't you think it's to get over Being sad? Everyone knows that I hurt you bad We know you miss me But I am happy Hmmm
[Chorus] So don't you ever doubt this We're more than just a small kiss (More than just a sma-a-all kiss) Now you know, so they know That I won't give up our relationship They'll never get to take me My love is not that easy (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah) Now you know, so they know That I won't give up our relationship
Had to go deep inside Had to let it all out Boy you know we're still cool But don't you ever doubt it Oh, Oh Don't you know that I'm in love? Let it go
