It’s the hottest and longest day of the year so far for New York City. It is the first official day of summer and Tisha Jackson is in her hometown of New York City with Sway of MTV News. Tisha is at MTV Studios to sit down with Sway and give him a brief over look of her album, Reveal, Revealing, Reveal [Hits shelves July 2nd] and explain everything about the album track by track.

Sway: Hey, what’s up? This is Sway of MTV and were here with the lovely Ms. Tisha Jackson.

*Tisha is sitting on a couch across from sway with her legs crossed.*

[Tisha smiles and says…] Hi Sway.

Sway: What’s up Tisha? Tell us how you’ve been.

Tisha: I’ve been really busy. But good. Everything is hectic, I’m moving at a really fast pace, but I’m not one to complain. I’m good. I’m blessed. How have you been Sway?!!

Sway: [Smiles at the side of his mouth] I’ve been good. I haven’t seen you in a minute. You’ve been on tour and everything.

Tisha: I know it’s been a while. So you know I had to come chill with my home boy in my home town!

Sway: Haaaahaaa! [Laughs really hard]

*Tisha begins to giggle*

Sway: But on a serious note, you’ve been killing the past year. I mean hit, after hit, after hit. You had “History” with GirlSpice and Stephanie Fierce last year, then you had, “That’s How You Want It?” with Monte Carlos and Jay-C, then “Curtain Call” and now, “Hallelujah” with Shantel Stiletto. How does it feel to be on top of things?

Tisha: I wouldn’t necessarily say that I am on top of things. But I will say that I am truly fortunate to be so successful at the age I am at. And I am fortunate to have my fans embrace me the way that they do, because without them, technically no one would know the songs that you’ve just mentioned. So I thank them for always supporting me. And Sway, you know you’re my boy and all, but if I can correct you, History only featured GirlSpice, I don’t know anything about that other irrelevant artist you’ve just mentioned.

Sway: [Laughs hard] Are you referring to Stephanie Fierce?

Tisha: [Tisha pretending to be dramatic holds her chest and speaks in a English accent and says…] Sway, we musn’t mention such names. I’ve never heard of her. Moving along darling.

Sway: [Laughs] Moving along. But you’re back with the Re-release Reveal. A year later re-releasing the record how do you feel six million copies later?

Tisha: Wow, you know. I can’t believe we’ve gotten that far and Reveals gone that far. It feels greatly overwhelming because I knew it would be a special project to me when I was recording it. And you know the drama I had when I released it, but WE DID IT! And it feels amazing.

Sway: So you’ve recorded seven brand new tracks for the album?

Tisha: Yes! Seven new songs for the re-release. All brand new material, I did two cover, one with Dominic Brown. We covered the Ain’t No Mountain High Enough duet that Tammy Terrell and Marvin Gaye did in the 70’s. And I also covered Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody”. And the rest is spanking new material.

Sway: Do you know that this is just a re-release of an album from last year, but everyone is treating it as if it’s a new studio album. That’s how big the momentum is for this right now!

Tisha: I know! People are like, we are so excited about the new album, we are so excited about the new album, and I keep telling them, It’s not a new album!! Haha! But I think it’s a good thing that my fans think of this new material from the re-release as it’s own body of work because in a way it is. It’s like a continuation of Reveal, and like an update on where I am at now after Reveal, you know. So it’s a good thing.

Sway: So, we’re gonna go through the track listing of the album. The second disc because that’s the one with all the new material. And you just give me a background story on how it was recording the track and what it’s about and everything. Etc.

Tisha: Got you.

Sway: Track one. “Wild Thing”. Tell us about it.

Tisha: [Smiles] I love that song. I love gushing over good music and that track is everything for the summer. It just has that easy breezy, go with the flow summer vibe you know? I basically wrote this song believe it or not after I saw a portrait of a naked guy. And the portrait basically depicted the male anatomy, and I basically wrote about the male anatomy and how it could be a good thing and a bad thing for us ladies. Because you know, you can like how attractive a person is on the outside, but at the end of the day, I want you’re heart. And the song basically says, you know, you’re fine as hell, but I want us to love each other before we could graduate to that next level and do the wild thing. I hope the fans like it so, I can release it as a single eventually.

Sway: Wow, a song about the male anatomy dedicated to us fellas. I don’t know whether to be flattered or grossed out.

Tisha: Ugh [Laughs] It’s a compliment Sway. You should be flattered.

Sway: Okay, moving to track two. “Hallelujah” Featuring. Shantel Stiletto. How did that come about?

Tisha: Well as you know, that’s the first single off Reveal, Revealing, Revealed. By the way the video is coming by the end of the week. But I just wanted to do a song for a lot of people without separating my audience into two different groups. And that’s what I love most about “Hallelujah” is that it speaks to women, to blacks, to Hispanics, to all minorities but it doesn’t make them feel separated. And it doesn’t distant my fans who may not be in one of those categories, but instead it enlightens them. And I had this really hard rough, 90’s, New Jack Swing type beat in the studio, and I said to myself, “This song needs to be aggressive”. And the best way to express that aggressiveness was to talk about what issues have gone in the past and are still currently involving discrimination against all races and creeds of people. And I wanted someone aggressive and fresh to get on the track with me and Shantel was the first who came to mind, and it was a smart decision to put her on the track because she adds a lot of spice to it.

Sway: Okay, moving along to track 3. “Fiercest One In Town”! I’ve been waiting to hear what this is about, so do tell.

Tisha: Well, I’ll start off by saying. “Fiercest One In Town” will be the official next single off Reveal, Revealing, Revealed. And there will be a video for it. But “Fiercest One In Town” is one of the most fiery, comedic, hottest records that I’ve ever written and produced. And people will make their assumptions of who they think it’s about, but it’s really talking a lot of people who can talk the talk but I want to see you walk the walk, because I’ve yet to see it. And I know I not only talk the talk and walk the walk, but you insist you can as well, so show me! Show us. Everyone will know fully and have a full understanding on what the track is about when it debuts, which will be in the upcoming weeks.

Sway: Okay, we’ll be waiting to hear more about that soon. Next track, a song originally performed by Rufus & Chaka Khan, “Ain’t Nobody”. A track you covered for the song.

Tisha: You know, I just want to start off by saying, I love Chaka Khan. Her voice doesn’t only have soul, it also has funk. When she sings it’s with so much personality and you just feel her, and that’s why loved her since I was a child. But I am a child of the 80’s believe it or not; I was born in ’89. But even though the track came out before I was born, it was just one of those classics that you couldn’t escape and my mom always played. And the main thing that gets to me is the beat of the guitar and the bass line, so I re-mastered it, made it a even harder strumming version and I covered it. I just love the song, and people of my generation are familiar with it, but in a way it’s like me paying tribute and showing the next generation that because of songs like this and artist like Chaka Khan is why I am here today.

Sway: So track 5. You took it way back with this one, originally sang by Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell. Another track you covered on the album is, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. And you covered this one along with your boo, Dominic Brown.

Tisha: [Tisha hits Sways arm and laughs hard] Sway stop it! That’s not my boo! Haha! But seriously though, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It’s one of those songs that really eases your mind and speaks to your soul whenever you hear it. And I just wanted to recapture that magic that Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell had in the 70’s with myself and Dominic. You know, we performed it on tour together, and when I sang every word of it I mean every word I sing to Dominic and I also dedicated to my other friends and loved ones. [Tisha sings] “If you need me call me, no matter where you are, no matter how far, don’t worry baby”. Yeess!

Sway: Beautiful song by you and your man [Sway teases Tisha]. But onto Track number
6. “Curtain Call (Remix)”, which also happens to feature you’re man, Dominic Brown.

Tisha: [Points her index finger and smiles] Sway I am going to kill you. The “Curtain Call (Remix)” is the continuation of the original “Curtain Call”. But it tells the man’s perspective as well. I think in the “Curtain Call” video which Dominic was in as well, you can see that the character I am playing is hurt and you can get a feel for her, but you don’t get to hear the man’s perspective of what happens in the video or song, so I wanted showcase that, and Dominic help me give a man’s point of view of the situation. It’s a really comedic, dramatic track. The fans are gonna love it. Both of ours.

Sway: So sweet you and your boo singing together. [Sway laughs]. And the final track. Track 7, “We Got This”. Tell us about that.

Tisha: Well, “We Got This” is just basically about the beginning of a relationship and how it is. You know that feeling you get when you can’t be without that person, but you’re heart wont fully allow you to be with that person because you don’t want to get it broken. So it basically questions if you think it’s real love what you have. The beat is crazy for the track though.

Sway: So I know you have to go, but tell us a little about the “Reveal Music Week” you have beginning tomorrow, June 21st.

Tisha: Yes! I am so excited about that. So everyday starting tomorrow, I am going to release a new track off of Reveal, Revealing, Revealed. So you don’t have to wait to hear it all on the album, you can get it immediately. So from June 21st to June 28th, everyday one of the seven tracks off the re-release will be released onto my vevo channel and onto itunes.

Sway: Make sure you look out for those tracks. It was nice catching up with you again Tisha. Thank you for coming to us with this exclusive.

Tisha: My pleasure, thank you for having me.

Stephanie Fierce: Let me break it down to you sweetheart. My point is that as much as you want to be me SO BAD, you can't. You can name your songs after me, you can title your tours after my first album "The Past, the Present The Future of Pop", you can steal my lyrics, you can steal my music videos imagery all you want, but you will never be me. Cause at the end of the day, when we both go on stage, not only do you look and sound like a stiff dying goat, you absolutely have no impact on music whatsoever. So stay mad and pressed bitch. But I'm about to serve you right hoe and I'm about to show you how is done. You're so basic to me, this should be cake.

Oh and Continue your jealousy towards me, and anyone who support you is a dumb deaf cunt.
