It's quite interesting how we watch superstars transition. We watch stars transition from relatively unknown, to world class superstars. We watch superstars have it all to having nothing at all, and we also watched stars transition from being loved, to being hated ad vice versa. When it comes to Brittany Knox, it's all the more intriguing.

The blonde bombshell made her debut some years ago, emerging as the next big "pop prospect", using the glittery, sexy and scandalous route to get over releasing a very sexy track entitled "Leather Love" that of course did not sit well with the industry. This set off a very mixed reception from not only celebrities, but parents, and industry figures all began to call this new star, Knox, the worst thing to come to pop music. But behind all the synths, and sexy outfits sat a very strong voice. So behind all the slurs thrown at her, never did the words "talentless" fall into the puddle of insults, even after the ultra dance pop infused debut "Mannequin" was released that ultimately made Brittany one of the most recognized, but least respected females in the industry. This would all change however.

As the ending of 2010 rolled on in, Brittany Knox had some sort of "coming of age" where she ultimately got tired of her image being controlled and in return broke out on her own, leaving her then label and looking to record better music and control her own image. Brittany began experimenting with different producers to create this Dance/New Wave sound as well as swimming through different type of pop/ dance and alternative genre's that became a hit with her fans and people alike and set a huge redemption.. she released a double platinum selling mini album entitled Halfway There that soured to the number two spot on the Chart Heat Album's chart as well as shoveling out #1 hits, and what people called "Brittanymania" began for quite a while. The dust soon cleared and Brittany Knox announced that she would start recording an album after a short break from the industry. As the months went on, we did not hear much from Knoxville until "Epoch's" release begin building up, but soon after, Brittany released the tracks [Desert Paradise & Bonnie's Redemption] as well as other leaked tracks into one disk and charged 1.99 and the proper Epoch released never happened, and once again Brittany took time off to tend to her then marriage, to Jake Wilson. So we are we now?

After a little trail of the tape, we are now in the year 2012, things have changed and Brittany Knox has emerged again. This time she became a respected judge on Starfactory and word of new music was on the map. If you were wondering, this is what we are here today for. With the likes of Vanity, Stacey Walton and Stephanie Fierce all making respectable come-backs this year, Brittany Knox, who's name often gets mentioned in the same sentence as the females just said, she breaks out into the scene with the new single "Jane Doe" that will go on sale this Sunday. Brittany is back. What we yearn to hear in her comeback single is hunger to get back on top,something different, and something to convey the title of the song in the track. I think Brittany might have just delivered. Keep reading.

"Jane Doe" opens up with a very eerie instrumental putting across this very suspenseful vibe mixed with synths and a roaring backing beat that shows up seconds into the track. It doesn't take long before Brittany Knox to bring out her very distinctive vocals upon this eerie beat as she mutters out loudly Roll out of bed|She'll paint the town red as the creeping beats suspenseful manner continues, after saying those lyrics as soon as she coos out the next lines, a more alternative edge is thrown onto the eerie instrumental, mixing in a combo of quick drums that slam repeatedly against the track as Brittany lets out Never a bore, live like Jersey Shore| Hit the bottle, walk out the door. Brittany then continues on with the the lyrics Walking in her bare feet| Through this maze ; Party on the dark streets| Mind's a haze with light sirens being added to the drum filled, synth atmosphere that might just have you bobbing your head already.

The concoction seems to so good, but by the time the song is just getting started. When Brittany brings about her next set of lines starting with "A race to the bottom" an electric guitar chord is heard souring above the track as Brittany brings about her next few lines, which serves for a buildup for what the chorus serves. When the chorus does slam onto the track, a heavy guitar chord is heard, mixed with synths, drums and a quick backing beat as Brittany belts out the very easily memorable chorus behind the instruments Feels like a Jane Doe, looking like a hoe|Stares into the bottle cos she's nowhere to go| Feeling like a Jane Doe, she puts on a show|No one knows how she suffers oh oh-oh-oh. Getting across a very important message in the song, but that will come later. Brittany wails out the chorus one more time, this time sounding as if an even harder electric guitar is heard. The chorus finally rides out with each of the instruments coming down with the next verse finding its way onto the track. For that verse, only is the backing beat, drums and synths present but as soon as the chorus finds it way back, the electric guitar and wailing instruments do as well. As Brittany brings her A-game vocals every time the chorus slides upon us, getting across the message in the song as well as keeping us occupied with those ever so distinctive vocals throughout each verse she murmurs out. Including the bridge, that gives the song a breakdown with the lightness of 80's new wave/synth, showing most widely as she does a whispery tone of voice singing A race to the bottom|Of every last glass|She'll never preach what she taught 'em
Party to the bottom of the class. Before the song breaks into its hard chorus one last time, this time the chorus sounding harder than the choruses before as Brittany blares out the chorus to full capacity with a guitar solo going on right behind her voice along with the instruments bring this euphoric synth and guitar raging track to a hault.


There are many chord changes present in the track, with the song seemingly not becoming old or a bore due to the changes in instruments that may make the first listen very, very interesting, enjoyable and catchy. What also might stand out to you is the message in the song. Brittany isn't a stranger to choosing topics of conversation in her music but in "Jane Doe" she brings out a problem that we see everyday. A Jane Doe, is an unidentifiable female and in the track, Brittany conveys the message of Jane Doe being a female, who doesn't know who she is, she cannot define who she is as a person but goes on living life through alcohol and partying... which is ultimately a big problem in today's society. A lot of people just don't know who they are and rely on drugs and alcohol but deep down, their suffering as Brittany makes it known, every time she ends off the chorus with "No one knows how she suffers oh oh-oh-oh" which stands out as the main point in the chorus, and the track in it's whole entirety.
