I think after all the hype, even rational people were expecting him to perform miracles. But the truth is he's done very well so far, and hasn't made too many bad decisions so far. The President really doesn't have all the power people think he does, and he is coming off the back of an administration who drove the US economy into worse debt than ever before. You cannot judge a President six months into a Presidency that has passed largely without incident. Things are better, things are being done, and we won't feel the effect for some time. The pending closure of Guantanamo Bay is one such thing, because quite clearly locking people up without trial in a prison camp off the mainland doesn't reduce terrorism or in fact achieve anything except violate all manner of international laws through any number of careful loopholes (thanks Dick Cheney). If anything, it incites terrorism and ill-will across the world even from America's allies.

But the man has charisma, talent, and the balls to make bold moves when needed, and time will tell whether it works out.

But things aren't better, we're even more in debt, jobless rates keep getting worse. His approval rates are falling. Must we not forget he's a media poster boy, and god forbid say anything bad about him.

I'll agree it's still too early to judge, but not a damn thing is changing.
