Barbara Walters: Our first guest is running high off the anticipation of her new CD Reveal, Revealing, Revealed. *Barbara holds the album in her hands*. She is only 23 years old and has sold over 90 million records Worldwide. Please welcome the very beautiful and talented, Tisha Jackson.
*The audience applauds very loudly, cheering*
*“Hallelujah” begins to play in the background. Tisha walks off from backstage onto the stage. Tisha dressed conservative but sexy walks onto the stage. She puts both of her hands up and waves to the audience smiling. She enters the stage and hugs then kisses, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd, Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, and finally Whoopi Goldberg. Tisha then waves to the audience one more time, and then sits between Whoopi and Barbara.
*The audience still applauding*
Barbara: Beautiful cover. You look gorgeous.
Tisha: Yes, Reveal, Revealing, Revealed.
Barbara: Whatever it’s called, it looks good to me.
*Audience laughs and Tisha smiles*
Barbara: You know, 90 million records in six years, that’s incredible. How does it feel to be the woman behind it all?
Tisha: You know, it’s still kind of hard to believe. It’s something difficult to fathom sometimes. But I take it all in stride, and I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself the woman behind it all because my team is so supportive and my fans are so loyal. Without them it would be close to impossible. And the grace of God.
Barbara: I recently read a quote that you were considering taking a break from the industry after this record.
Tisha: Yeah, I think I am. You know I’ve been working so much and I think the reason why I haven’t stopped is because I am so young. And I look at these as my grind years, like years, building up so when I do get older my kids can look up to someone whose made such and such accomplishment. But, I do realize I need to take better care of myself and a break is definitely needed. I love myself too much not to give myself the best.
Barbara: *Points her hand up at Tisha* Aaaah, I like that. *Gives Tisha a high five*
*The audience applauds*
Whoopi: I think you’re handling it very well for a woman you’re age. Do you sometimes feel like things are unreal?
Tisha: No, I wouldn’t say unreal. But you do miss things, you miss out on certain things. Like I get to see some of my family and friends do certain things and I can’t always be a part of it because I am doing something here or there or performing this place or that place. It leaves you feeling like, “Oh I want to be a part of that”. And it wasn’t until about six months ago when I was rehearsing for my tour in California and somebody said, “she’s sold this much records” and was just talking so highly of me, and then I thought to myself, “you’re not taking good enough care of yourself to realize you’ve made an impact on people’s lives”. It’s like I didn’t get it but now I understand more.
Elisabeth: Let’s talk about music, so you have the new album in stores, Reveal, Revealing, Revealed. Can you tell us more about it? It’s a re-release of your last album Revealed. What’s different about this one?
Tisha: Yes, Reveal, Revealing, Revealed is the new record! And it’s a re-release of Reveal, but it has new material. I just wanted to sit in the studio myself and come up with songs that describe where I am at in my life right now, and where I believe society and pop culture is currently at and create them from scratch! So we went into the studio, I wrote all the material and came up with the beats, a very summertime album. Very faced paced, and we remixed and covered some oldies like Chaka Khan and Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell. So I would say the new material is funkier compared to Reveal.
Barbara: And you have some featured guest on the album.
Tisha: Yes… I have…
*Barbara cuts Tisha off*
Sherri: Oh, I think I know where Barbara is getting at.
*Audience laughs*
Barbara: A mister Dominic Brown, can you tell us more about him?
Tisha: *Smiles* It’s so funny you asked that. I did Dave Letterman last night and he asked me the same question. How about you guys bring him on the show and get to know him. He’s a sweet heart.
Sherri: *Smiles* I think where Barbara is getting at is, are you two dating?
Tisha: *Smiles* I figured. Haha. But you know as much as I would love to be, I am not dating right now.
Joy: You’re beautiful, why not?!
*Audience laughs*
Tisha: You know I’ve tried it before, and it is so difficult being in a relationship that you take seriously and maintaining a career. It’s hard to balance it out. But I want to date. I’d love to meet a nice guy.
Joy: Do guys find you intimidating?
Tisha: Unfortunately, sometimes yes. Because I consider myself a very assured person. I don’t need people to think for me and I am very much in control of what I can control, but I do think that some guys are intimidated. But then I know that’s not the guy for me, because sometimes you want a guy to be dominant. You don’t want to have the power to run a man’s life. I don’t want that! I don’t want to do that.
Sherri: We hear you just recently had a birthday. What you do for your birthday?!
Tisha: Yeah, my birthday was on June 11th. It was a blast. I think I had the time of my life. I came back home and we had this party at a club in Brooklyn and it was just so at home and so fun! And people were like, “Oh my God! I can’t believe Tisha is partying in Brooklyn” And I’m like of course this is my home.
Joy: Do you stay in Brooklyn when you come back home?
Tisha: Yeah my mom and the rest of my family still live in Brooklyn. When I got my first big paycheck I moved them into a better area. I brought my mom and my grandma a house, I think ownership is very important. So yeah they have their own homes in Brooklyn now and when I come home, I usually stay at my mom’s brownstone.
Whoopi: You are so wonderful; It was wonderful having you on the show for the first time.
Tisha: Yes, It was amazing being hear. I’d never thought I’d make it onto The View. But I’ve enjoyed every second of it.
Barbara: You will come back, right?
Tisha: Of course! I’d love to.
Barbara: Everyone, this is the talented Tisha Jackson. Make sure you get her new album, Reveal, Revealing, Revealed available everywhere now. Everyone in the studio will be going home with a copy.
