The SongIt's a slow and emotional song, with some bitter and dramatic melodies that makes it the perfect opening track for the album. The song sounds very inspired by the '60s old sound with strings and horns being the leading instruments.
Martina's vocals are smooth and soft, but get melancholic through the chorus and in the post-chorus, where she hits the highest notes. The song gets the most intense and emotional in the bridge and frees itself of all the tension in the ending line, which is sang by Martina softly and in a exhausted, which represents her being tired of pain.

"The opening track is probably the absolute gem of the album. I just love it a lot and is one of the songs that mean the most to me, since it helped me through the lonely time that came when I broke up with my boyfriend the last year because of the Teen Titans' world tour. When I wrote this song, I was so disappointed from life and everything, despite being in a band with some lovely and amazing friends and having my family always with me. I saw everything in black, even the most obvious white things. Love means a lot to me in my life and breaking up was for me like failing as a person and it definately was a nightmare that came true.
When I was choosing among the songs I wanted to record for the album, this one obviously came first because, like I said, when I wrote it I felt like I was freeing my soul of one of the heaviest pains I've had. Alicia did a wonderful job with the backing track also and when I explained her how I wanted it to be, how I felt the song, she immediately understood me." |
