The battered van that belonged to Acts of Hate pulled up into the parking lot. Sam, Jeff and Kyle got out, followed by Neil, who's face was covered with A1 steak sauce. Neil looks into the side mirrors of the van.

Neil: Shit, I DO have steak sauce on my face.
Kyle: We've been telling you that since last night but you wouldn't believe us.
Jeff: We go out for steaks with some cool guys who are willing to foot the bill and what do you do? Shovel it in your mouth. I swear to god you weren't even CHEWING.
Sam: Hey look, it's Erich and Erica! Whats up guys?

Sam: Morning, gals. So, Erich, I heard Floyd got some complaints from a few gents in the mens room yesterday. Something about a "maniacal acoustic performance / voyeur / general interruption of a public bathroom?"

John walks up behind everyone randomly without being noticed.

John: I quite enjoyed the music...I even tried adding my own drum nois....

The rest of E.S. comes up.

Jeremy: Don't even say it John.
John: But, it was so magnificent! The combination of acoustic guitars, poop plopping, and farts was heavenly!

Everyone stares at John as a cricket chirps.

Derrick: Alright, seriously can we just slap him until he is actually normal?

ACTS of HATE LIVE - CARNIVAL of SOUNDS - DAY 3

UserPostedImage

"This isn't no pussy motherfucking techno band, this isn't a fucking country band, we're acts of fucking hate and we want to see this place fucking move." - Frontman Sam Fischer (pictured above)

Day 3 was not as eventful as the first two days but Acts of Hate still tore it up. They entered the stage to a recording of "Blame Canada" from the southpark movie played over the speakers. Singer Sam Fischer attempted to rouse the crowd; "We are motherfucking Acts of Hate from canada, and we're going to fuck this place up!" They played more early songs, and left out there more melodic songs. During their performance of Tenacious D's "The Metal," they were once again joined onstage by John, drummer of Erin's Silence. He appeared to be wearing a helmet and straightjacket as he jumped around and stage dived. Their energetic performance was brought to an end with a slow, chugging performance of "Rain of Rape".

SETLIST
1. Unfurled Before Me (w/ "Blame Canada" over PA)
2. Knee Deep In The Dead
3. Roots (Sepultura Cover)
4. The Metal (Tenacious D Cover)
5. Sentenced to Hang
6. So This Is Passion
7. A Day In Black
8. Mechanical Christ (New Song)
9. Rain of Rape

Reported Failure - Carnival of Sounds Day #3
UserPostedImage
Vin Peters during "Short"
UserPostedImage
Billie Beckett during "Crumbling"

Reported Failure delivered another set tonight that was different from what they've done so far on the tour. The set was a guitar fan's dream. The band picked their most guitar driven tracks and that was what they played. The mosh pit was going for the full set. Vin Peters reminded us why he is in the top class of guitar players in the world: he's damn good but mostly he puts on a fucking great show. He differed the melodies in his solos sometimes and played a few at least twice as long as they are recorded. Yet the set wasn't too repetitive. The acoustic break moved to the end. The band played and played and then said it was their last song. They left and then Billie came back alone to play a few more songs acoustically.

Setlist
1. A Pattern of Distress (Darkness)
2. Short (Flux of the Run)
3. Being Man (Darkness)
4. Darkness I (Darkness)
5. Forever and a Day (The Offspring cover)
6. Pulled (Disarm)
7. Hope To Get Out (Flux of the run)
8. Cure to growing older (PGC)
9. Shotgun Fairytale (RF & Friends)
10. The Call (RF & Friends)
11. Manufactured Radio (PGC)
12. Writing My Own Eulogy (Darkness)
13. Lithium (Darkness)
14. Disarm (Disarm)
15. I Know You (I've Known You)
16. New America (Darkness)
[Acoustic encore]
17. Lets Run (PGC)
18. No Lights (Disarm)
19. Crumbling (Darkness)

Sam stood close to the back of the crowd, listening to Billie Beckett of reported failure croon "Crumbling." He held a beer in his hand and sipped at it while listening to Beckett's voice. After the song, the singer said his goodbyes and left the stage. Sam was quick to leave; he had no wish to get caught in the rush of fans. He walked past merch tents and port-a-potties and made his way back to the van. Jeff and Neil sat on the ground next to it. Neil's face was in his hands.

Sam: What's wrong?

Jeff spat on the ground and looked up at him.

Jeff: Kyle and Nick left.
Sam: What? The fuck you say!
Jeff: They left a note. Read it.

Sam took the piece of lined paper from him.

"Dear Sam. Nick and I haven't felt the joy of making music in a very long time. I miss my home. I miss my family. We can't do this anymore. We're taking our earnings and flying home. We're sorry. If you never want to speak to us again, we understand."

Sam looked up at Neil and Jeff.

Sam: What the fuck do we do now?
Jeff: They left their instruments here.
Sam: What fucking good is that going to do if there's only three of us?
Neil: I can play drums.
Jeff: I can play bass.
Sam: Well fuck! We can't have me sing with just guitar and fucking bass! Fuck them! This is my fucking DREAM. I'm living it, and they can't deal with that? Fuck them!

Sam threw his beer on the ground and walked off.

ACTS of HATE NEEDS YOU!

Guitarist Kyle Badriju and drummer Nick Osborne have up and left Acts of Hate following their show in Mansfield. Acts of Hate will NOT be pulling out of the Carnival of Sounds, but WILL need people to help fill in. Neil Willamette and Jeff Koenig have agreed to play drums and bass, but are looking for a replacement to play guitar for the remainder of the tour. The setlists will be simplified in order to make it easier on the replacement.

Vocalist Sam Fischer on the subject: "They're a bunch of fucking traitors and I hope their motherfucking plane crashes. But I'm not pulling out of this tour. If I need to bring a fucking fan on stage to play guitar, I will. The show goes on."

The guys from E.S. stood behind Jeff, Sam, and Nick. The news was shocking. Three days in and they were already being left out to dry.

Kevin: Damn, hosers. Wait, am I using that term right? Anyway, that sucks guys.

Kevin hands a couple beers to the boys to try and drown away their frustration.

Anthony: Wait a second guys. Clearly you have all you need right here in front of you...me and Jeremy.
Jeremy: Both of us would be more then happy to play thrash with you guys.
Anthony: Works out great since we're all going to the same
place anyway.

Erin's Silence: Carnival of Sounds Tour- Day 3
Mansfield, Massachusetts

UserPostedImage

Day 3 went smoothly for E.S.. Today, they had no catchy tune to play as they came onto stage. The guys just walked up and picked up their instruments and stood there, listening. They listened as the fans cheered for music. They didn't look at the crowd, they didn't acknowledge them, they looked down at the ground. Then, Anthony spoke, "Sometimes a pawn can take a king, sometimes we fail to..." Everyone knew what song it was and waited in anticipation for Anthony to finish. They called for the riff, the drums, the vocals, they wanted it all. But, E.S. wasn't giving it. They waited, and waited. Then, out of the silence Kevin finished Anthony's line by screaming as high as he could. The band moved straight into a harsh breakdown to get the fans jumping before they moved into the first verse. They continued to play their songs off of their EP, their upcoming album, and added a cover of one of Anthony's favorite songs "Alive In the Lights" by Memphis May Fire.

Setlist:
1. Shadow Games
2. The Hollow
3. Our Last Dance
4. The Temptress
5. My Darkened Soul
6. Burn Away (Suzie cover)
7. The Incest
8. The Whore
9. Tonight, You're Sleeping with the Fishes
10. The Marionette
11. Alive In the Lights (Memphis May Fire cover)

Sam looked up at the guys from E.S.

Sam: Really? Do you guys know our songs? Enough to get through a set, I mean.
Jeff: What about Hugh? We already gave him the job. We can't have three guitarists.....can we?
Neil: that sounds pretty brutal.
Sam: Yeah. That does. Hm.

Sam Neil and Jeff sit outside the tourvan. Jeff is sitting with Hugh Keeley, Anthony Bryant and Jeremy Chance. He is holding his guitar and trying to teach them the various riffs they will need to learn for todays set.

Jeff: No, no, no, I said SQUEADLIE not MEADLIE
Neil: Don't you think there's a problem with a self-taught guitarist who knows nothing about musical jargon trying to teach those guys how to play our songs?
Sam: Mah. They'll figure it out.

ACTS of HATE LIVE - CARNIVAL of SOUNDS - DAY 4

UserPostedImage

Acts of Hate's setlist for the fourth day of the Carnival of Sounds was a difficult one. The day before, guitarist Kyle Badriju and drummer Nick Osborne had left the band, presumably flying back to toronto. In keeping true to the "show must go on" mentality, Acts of Hate still went on as scheduled. The lineup featured Sam on vocals, Jeff on bass, Neil on drums, and guitar from Hugh Keeley (of Mount Olympus) and Jeremy and Anthony from Erin's Silence. The set was brutal, fast, and full of energy. Sam dedicated the song "Sentenced to Hang" to "Kyle and Nick. Two fuckin' traitors who can suck my fucking dick."

SETLIST
1. Unfurled Before Me
2. Knee Deep In The Dead
3. A Day In Black
4. Roots (Sepultura Cover)
5. Sentenced to Hang
6. Rain of Rape
7. Withering Entities
8. Mechanical Christ

(OOC: I'm posting this early because I'm leaving for vacation soon. I'm going to be away for 10 days so in my absence, put on a good show and STAY METAL \m/)

harlots show review/overview

UserPostedImage
erica hess.

setlist:
1. son of sam- dead boys cover
2. too much of having too little
3.drunk,pissed off,and ready to rumble.
4.ted the atomic toaster who keeps finding his way into people's bathtubs.
5. if i had katy perry's boobs (i could save the world).
6. the further adventures of a highly motivated yard gnome.
7. the pirates of broccoli cove vs the ninjas of cucumber lane.
8.drowning in a dinty moore sea.
9. dont kill me behind a chain restaurant.
10. lawn darts (death from above).
11.invasion of the w.a.s.p people
12. nobody like you because you're in a jam band.
13. idenitity- xray spex cover
14. hello kitty built my hotrod.

to the unitiated, the harlots are a bit hard to take serious. erica hess's overly cutesy vocal style, backed by a motorhead-esque din is almost gimmicky. in fact,i heard several fellow concert goers ask, " are you fucking serious?!" when the band first started playing. but soon a pit of ferocity usually reserved for metal shows formed, and never dissipated. the harlots do to seem to believe in stopping once a show starts. only a slight slowing down and erica speaking the next song's title, seperate songs.
their setist is a smattering of old songs, covers and a few songs written for the carnival of sound tour. the hess surname has become synonymous with absurdity, and these songs do not fail to deliver on their heritage. does erica and co pop some sort of psychoactives and write whatever comes to mind? i cannot say,but it's a hell of a lot of fun.
