Taken from The Deli, a local NY indie magazine:
They have no website. They have done no interviews. The band members all use pseudonyms, which just happen to also be puns and the genus-species names of animals you've never heard of. Indeed, THE LOLA BECKS are a band as interesting and obscure as the science fiction character they take their name from, but they're hoping to jump out of that cloud with the release of their first single, "I Knew a Girl (Yeah Yeah Yeah)" next week, through tiny independent label One Alliance Records. Having played middle-of-the-week residencies at Williamsburg's Trash Bar and the Lower East Side's Rockwood Music Hall, the Lola Becks have successfully captured the chaotic energy and simplistic catchiness that characterizes their shows in the studio with the 3 hook-filled songs on this record.

Taken from One Alliance Records.net :
THE LOLA BECKS and ONE ALLIANCE RECORDS would like to thank all of the fans and musicians who supported the single release. We have had to re-press the vinyl 3 times already, and the band has been fully packing East Village and Williamsburg bars and we are happy to announce that, due to overwhelming demand, the band will be embarking on a small, two-week tour along the East Coast. Check back in the next week for tour dates and ticket sales (if advanced tickets are available). |
