Artwork"Parasite" is a song by music artist and producer Stephanie Fierce off her seventh studio album "Love is Lust". The song features a more relaxed tone but is considered the albums's more depressing tracks. The song talks about the relationship between a parasite and its host in reference to the relationship between a man and a woman but in the perspective of modern society. According to the lyrics, Steph considers or confesses to be the parasite taking advantage of her man (The "Host"), only being with him for self benefit, further showcasing the albums "lust" concept. The song has a somewhat similar structure and style as 'In Love alone" off her "Free" album. However, this time Fierce does not find herself "whispering" some of her lyrics. Fierce' voice seems more spooky but present and confident, which is what "In Love Alone" seemed to be lacking.
The dark but gloomy song, features a more complex innovative instrumentation and overall production. The song also features brainwave entrainment production work which is meant to relax you, but not in a boring way. The background noise allows your mind grows sensitive to sounds, alongside the hybrid of a celesta, a gamelan, and a drum and bass machine which was also used in "U and I = Suicide". Those instrument are also featured throughout the whole songs. The hang drum is also added and other electronic instruments are layered to give the song more edge. While Stephanie Fierce also finds herself howling and hoarsing out his lyrics in a tasteful manner through B.E. Those unfamiliar with "brainwave entrainment" (B.E). B.E. is used in very few experimental songs. Especially those that deal with the more soulful psychological purpose. B.E. was initially used for Insomniacs to put them to sleep, but experimental musicians find ways to use it as a "stay awake" tool. Once your brain is accustomed to the sound, things like whispers and instrument add on's come off as more 'present', which is oppositional to the feeling of being numb. Which insomniacs use to go to sleep. The song''s instrumental appears to be more gruesome as drum and bass machine joins the set of instruments as Steph's vocals begin clashing with other lyrics, in conclusion that Steph is destroying her host.
Music Video: 
Shot in a single day, the music video had been secretly filmed in the middle of a studio at a last minute approach. Despite Fierce already having the concept in her mind, the clip become more complex when bringing the vision to life as she incorporated concepts that weren't initially set for filming. The video was directed by Stephanie Fierce herself and the concept refers to Adam and Eve. It also experiments with psychedelic visual effects and innovative lighting that gives the clip a cinematic feel. The music video for the song is exactly 4 minutes long in length and does not mess with the song's original composition.
Seemingly isolated in a space that does not seem to have character or culture, where the video is set one can infer that the setting of the video takes place inside the body of an unknown creature or a dark world where nothing but two of them exist. The video opens up with Stephanie Fierce and a man completely nude pressed against each other on a corner, rubbing in curiosity as water drips off both of their bodies. The song's video features close-up shots of Fierce and the man completely nude as it incorporates psychedelic light effects and symmetrical filming photography. After the two discover their differences, they begin moving in a seductive form.
Surrounding them is graffiti that seems animated as it moves around them forming a secret language. In the solitary space, the two then begin moving around in form of dance, as they both begin to learn each others bodies and form a bond. The man the begins to whirl Steph's uper body as he continues to secuce her. Smoke eventually begins to come out of Steph mouth after kissing the man in representation of evil and torment. The man who seems blind by her actions, continues to scorch Steph as she makes her way into his brain. Blowing out more smoke. Eventually, the man drops to the floor. The camera fades out with Fierce breathing deeply.
"I don't think my fans were expecting this video and they may not understand it at first glance. This video definitely pays homage to the story of Adam and Eve, in terms of their sexuality and curiosity. Eve confused Adam with lust, and just like them I think in this video you get to see two curious human beings wanting to explore these feeling that are encountering for the first time. However, they don't seem to understand their motives. It really showcase the power women have always had over men. I didn't want the video to look like a science project, I wanted it to be more of a story, so wanted two humans to showcase this story, rather than an actual parasite and its host (Laughs)." -Stephanie Fierce
