Fate is a Cunning Harlot by Mount Olympus
Length: 4:30
Lyrics: Matt Collins and Wil Reasons
Production: Vin Peters
Label: Liberation/Nomad Records
Released: July 21st 2012
Format: Digital download, 1000 vinyl with b-side "Sex & Love (DEMO)"

Music
After about a month of waiting, fans can finally hear the debut single from the "manband", Mount Olympus. Over the past few weeks the band has released several demos. The latest was this song, "Fate is a Cunning Harlot", which was chosen as the debut single. "We were looking at all the songs we had ready to go," says guitarist Hugh Keeley, "and then we were just like 'blimey this is the best one'. So were releasing it as the lead single". The song is confirmed as going to be on the band's debut album titled "Loud, Sexy, Manic Rock & Roll" due out later this year.

The song begins with singer Wil Reasons yelling to the heavens in a very full tone. Immediately Hugh Keeley comes in laying the fuzz-filled, dynamic rhythm guitar hearbeat for the song. Derrick Goddard makes his hearbeat stronger on drums by joining in with Hugh on the beat. Matt Collins also joins in laying the foundation for the song. Vin Peters begins quickly playing over this hammering on and pulling off to create a fast, minor tonality riff. Wil continues to sing and soon Matt comes in and the vocals alternate in the second verse. With a strong tapping frenzy from high to low frequency Vin Peters transitions from the verse to the prechorus. At the same time the whole band yells creating a rebellious, anthem-like effect. Derrick is the first to change things up leading the way with a heavy double pedal. Hugh follows as the heartbeat of the song is slowed slightly and his deep chords build the atmopsphere of the song. Matt sings first shouting frantically. Then Wil comes in with a deep, growling scream. Danny is next contrasting to the others with his softer, cleaner vocals. Vin Peters begins sweep picking over this creating suspense for the imminent chorus. Then it comes with a break as all of the men once again yell out the lyrics. Then the chorus arrives with Derrick playing a softer beat and Hugh playing less heavy chords. Vin continues to melodically play lead guitar as he sweeps and steps to create a memorable, nostalgic melody. Danny starts singing the chorus in his soft voice which contrasts to the bigger, more powerful voice of Wil in the second half of the chorus. This same pattern of the verses, prechorus, and chorus continue. Derrick and Hugh create the heartbeat of the song, Vin riffs over them, Matt plays solid bass, and everyone sings with passion. Then the bridge comes. Much of the noise ceases. Derrick continues playing a soft beat and Vin plays a sweet melody using echoing harmonics to help him. Danny sings beautifully with passion in the more melodic and less loud part of the song. Another chorus comes as Vin transitions with a loud lick. Then everyone keeps going strong as Danny sings again showing off his range for the outro. Then the song ends.

Lyrics
Black - Wil Reasons
Black underlined - Wil Reasons (Screamed)
Blue - Danny O'Kurt
Red - Matt Collins
Orange - Everyone

[verse 1]
I see you looking at the waves
And it's always high tide
But if the water's coming now
How come were not drowned
Is there another way

[verse 2]
It's in the tingle in your skin
Or its the rush when you touch
You're always licking a wound
But it's a tasteless groove
So salt is on the way

[prechorus]
can you feel it?

How is it drowning in a lie?
While floating above the storm
How is it drowning in your imaginary life?

[chorus]
So take me now
Your kisses sting like acid
Were made for eachother
Like bullets for lovers
Please be my Juliet

Yes take me now
Your body is a comet
It's here to smash the world
but I just gaze and gaze
You're so cunning
You're so deceptive

[verse 3]
I can feel the shivers all around
I dont know what I think
All I want is you
And you are like the moon
But I only see what you want

[verse 4]
We go chasing in the dark
I go running for you, babe
This romance is a war
You sing your battle song
And show me your melodies

[prechorus 2]
I can hear them!

How is it drowning in a lie?
While floating above the storm
How is it drowning in your imaginary life?

[chorus]
So take me now
Your kisses sting like acid
Were made for eachother
Like bullets for lovers
Please be my Juliet

Yes take me now
Your body is a comet
It's here to smash the world
but I just gaze and gaze
You're so cunning
You're so deceptive

[bridge]
I saw a star
I wished for you and wished for me
But fate is just another word for misery
You came from above
And in my mind you could see
But fate is just another word for misery

[chorus]
So take me now
Your kisses sting like acid
Were made for eachother
Like bullets for lovers
Please be my Juliet

Yes take me now
Your body is a comet
It's here to smash the world
but I just gaze and gaze
You're so cunning
You're so deceptive

[outro]
You're so deceptive
And fate is another word for misery
Misery

Sounds kind of like...

Gia: I have a gut feeling about this record. Bad or good? Hmm, well I'll leave that up to your imaginations.

"My God! We truly are a talented bunch. The fact that we write entire albums all on our own while the biggest stars in the world have 45 co-writers on ONE track?? Where the hell are OUR record deals and GRAMMYS?" -BrownSugar

Ryan: Impressive. Before Misery Loves Company, I was a vocalist in a post-hardcore band so I can appreciate this type of music when done correctly, which you have done yourselves! The lyrics are brutal and fantastic. This is the first time ive proper really heard you guys and that has helped me now come to the conclusion that I think you guys are going places. Enjoy the journey!
