The soulful band that features the five personalities that make up Naptown Jukes are Damian, Trey, Morgan and Micheal and Steven. Growing up in such an small town that will surrounding by the richest of Detroit, the religious preachers and also the people of math, science and wealth and these boys who lived their life with rebel, sin and music. They grew up together, only dreaming about starting an soulful band and making timeless music that will go on as modern time Motown music and R&B. The band who was only knocked down by their dreams and their high scaled town and families wanted more lavish careers from the musicians and not only forced them to be lawyers, doctors and nurses.. and be today's most wealthiest men.. they will pushed into the religious lifestyle and pushed into something that they had to fight to get out of me. The boys who grow up listening to their inspiration The Isley Brothers and also El Green was the start of the soul and the passion the boys had with their raspy vocals and smooth ranges that will have you in music heaven as they write about their childhood, struggles and personal stories that they all shared together growing up in such an judgmental town. They was raised to sit properly, the eat properly, matters.. to be gentleman.. to always think about the world and people's opinion.. to do things that will only advance you among the people and not for yourself. It seemed that parents around the Naptown only raised their children to live for other people and not for themselves. The boys once said that, " it wasn't no sense of freedom or state of mind... it was fun at times but it too much to deal with growing up." Trey, the homosexual vocalist who father was a preacher and mom was just a first lady on the Detroit's music popular church. " I had pressure growing up. They wanted me to be sin free to live for God.. and I didn't have a problem with that.. but when it was forced down my throat.. it got kind of controlling.. and I hated that.." Trey was the boy at school, getting abused and bullied for his choice in sexuality. He wanted to find friends who expected him for who he was, but not only that- expected his lifestyle and his exceptions to not being perfect. " Everyone has an broom up their ass.. and that wasn't for me. I wanted to have fun.. and people around Naptown really saw fun as a fucking sin.. it was pathetic.."

Steven, the lifeless amount of soul and passion in his heart, grow up being in theater and guitar lessons, dedicated his life to music by the age of 10. He wanted to escape the harsh world of his parents, to the fact of his father being an drug addict, an former preacher in the church and his mom raising three kids all alone. " It was hard not having an father around and around my town family was everything.. it was a whole.. no one in my town was divorce.. if they got married.. they stayed married and raised kids together as family so people will look at me as the troubled kid because I did do a lot of crazy shit, only because I was suffering and I wanted a family like everyone else.." Jake, who had the same problem growing up with a drug addict father, but mother wise she will so involved in town events and making herself look perfect, she never had time to spend with Jake.. only his sister that had carer. " I played my guitar in my room alone at night.. wrote music and I had to really deal with it.. I wasn't the type of kid to cry and complain because no one wanted to hear excuses.. they only looked out for their family and friends.. they wanted everything to be perfect and I didn't have that.. I wasn't the richest and I wasn't the most put together kid.. I missed my mother.. but that didn't matter.."


Damian, the asshole and the jerk that only shows his emotions thought music and not action grow up with a college professor as a mother and an principal as a father. " Them bitches wanted me to be smart.. and go to the top colleges... I wanted to perform. I wanted to make people happy on stage... I had to get that thought their hands that this is what I love and I'm going to do it.." At age of 16, his father kicked him out of the house after asking him what college he wanted to go to for law. " He pushed that on me. He wanted me to hear the answer he wanted.. he wanted me to do it HIS way.. and fuck that.. I moved out and me and my dad are not closed because of that.. I moved in with a old friend from school and my mother was supportive and invited me back but I hated being around my father.." Damian was the class clown and was the comedian of high school and only wanted people to laugh and enjoy his piano and guitar music that he wrote and often performed them in his friend's house or at the school talent shows and dances. " I loved to sing and that what I enjoyed doing... making good music.." It was Micheal who had the finally say so when he formed the band and named it. Micheal was the perfect kid, with a wealthy family and got everything he wanted but he hated that he had to live up to his family standards in life. " I did it but I did so much behind their backs because I had to live up to their standards.." The humble, talented and respectful young man dedicated his self to the boys and music when he wanted to help the boys get away from the life that hated and he wanted to get away from a family that he admired but disliked for the lack of freedom and happiness. " I wasn't happy. I put on a show for everyone, only because I had too..." He was forced to be the town's leading boy in events.. he was forced to host school dances.. he was among the elite of the Chicago in a school for music. " I didn't want to leave the boys who I considered as brother who only expected me from who I was..." He was the only child but he stayed humble and moved out at the age of 18 with Damian as they got their own apartment and started to work on music.

Damian, was the most motivated but the most hard one to work with. He started to buy equipment to set up an at home studio in his apartment. " That was exciting when I got everything done.. and we still got that studio. I was amazing.. and I wanted for us to make money the way we wanted too, to sound the way we desired and dont give a fuck what the industry had to say.." Damian created the studio and all got a job to start to buy instruments where they will all write and play together and do open mics where all performed music from The Isley Brothers and Damian's favorite, Earth Wind and Fire.

They wanted to take music to another level and not be focused on the color of their skin with a genre that originality from African Americans, but put timeless and unique music into the home of soul lovers and most importantly, the people who loves good music and pure voices that will mark down in history as Neo-Soul. The very strong but lovable personalities that all has a bond more than friends, but consider each other as brothers, family all share a endless passion of soul music from one reason only- to share the struggle, the provide peace and to show comparison in their sharp but easy lyric and smooth music that will have you going back to throwback days of edgy music and R&B and gospel influenced ballads that Naptown love to write and produced. Steven, who brings laughter and joy. Damian, who brings something to live for with his smart remarks and his love hate relationship with Trey. Trey brings the outgoing personality to the music but one of the most amazing musician that Micheal himself seen. Micheal brings the motivation, the voice and the music. Jake, can be the most demanding and hurtful person because he knows what he wants.. he knows what the boys can do but he brings the most pureness voice and ideas that the band has ever seen. They bring you something new, unique and fresh but something that will have you thinking, remembered and sharing that music with someone who you love, care or even hate at times to never regret the past and use your life as self motivation for tomorrow. The boys can give you hope, passion and voices that will have them on the map for a very long time.
