Beyonce- Sweet Dreams Let me say this I love Beyonce but this video was very dissapointing, the wardrobe was awful and boring. The video opens up with Beyonce sleeping and she seems to be having a nightmare, (my thought from that point was wow this is going to be a great music video) and then it goes into what looks like a 1998 desert boring background. The reason why I say that is because it is unoriginal and it has been done before. And once again she use the two back up dancers thing. (I think Beyonce misses Destiny's Child or something) Its boring and the same shit dance again. Then the next scene its the most unoriginal thing ever. She is reflecting herself in a cheap 1991 white background and the mirrors thing is so Rhianna. The next scene disappoints me the most, she rips of the the robotic outfit form Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi music video. To make it worse the last scene makes it all worse, Her and the two back-up dancers in a cheap fake gold dress that is hideous, dancing the same moving hips bullshit. IT ends with her saying "Turn the lights off" This video is the shitiest video she ever made. The song is great but the video is dreadful, even the video for "Never Gonna Give You Up" is better than this epic fail. My Rating: 1/10

The Strokes- 12:51 Kind of a basic video. The band is playing in this futuristic-like room with them just playing. The musicians wear black and blue clothing that glows in. The room they are playing in is filled with all sorts of strange shapes and designs, all in blue on a black backround. I gave the video a 6/10. The song was okay. The video had interesting design but it was still kinda a basic video. |

Hard To Explain- The Strokes Kind of a random video. It shows all sorts of clips of randomness. Like for example, there's a plane lifting, then there's a naked woman, then the band are in a club, then a car driving, some building, really weird. Rise Against - Audience of One
One of the best video clips I've ever seen. I thought the kid would grow up to be Bush in the end, but it was even better than I thought! The song is an odd choice though, because the lyrics have nothing to do with politics (like many video clips they did before).

9/10. It's the reworked version of Holiday (Madonna, of course) for her 2009 tour, and it's amazing. This is also the night with the MJ tribute. A must watch. |

Sleepytime Gorrila Museum - Helpless Corpses Enactment The words of James Joyce put to song, and an aptly abstract video of some kind of Victorian dinner party and murder by flower. The high production values of this video, in terms of costume and set design were a pleasant surprise considering how niche this band is, and how little money they have to spend on this kind of thing. Not that the band is a stranger to theatricality. By their standards, this video is almost conventional. Great moments like "Ascend, out of your bed, cavern of a trunk and shrine" and "Kilt by kelt shell kithagain" really come to life with the clever manipulation of time. Everything seems to be moving slightly faster or slower than real life, while the mouths continue to intone the mysterious words as if all is normal. Time stops and lurches forward as it does musically. This is a real treat for SGM fans, therefore I bestow upon it a solid 10/10 and humbly hope that the future of SGM will reveal further such complex literary and musically off-kilter gems as this in the medium of music video. All hail the Last Human Being. |
