FULL RECAP, BACKGROUND & SONG + LYRICS Some stars make it easy, some stars take longer to reach that stature. For one, Cinzia Ricci had to climb her way up the ladder of success and with each obstacle thrown at her, she has been able to shape back up and move on to newer and bigger things. Lets take a small trail of the tape. Cinzia Ricci was first known in early 2011 as runner up and eventual loser to then label, 'The Shooting Aces' where they were embarking on a contract search. She lost to Stat Nerds, that eventually led to a highly controversial feud between Ricci and the boy band that even went as far as Cinzia slapping one of the members of the group during their live performance at an award show in early 2011. As the dust settled Cinzia quieted down and let the shine stay on the winners.
As 2011 flew on, Cinzia re-emerged as one of the members of 'The House Movement' - a group of young and talented DJ's and musicians led by DJ Night, DJ Cloud, Desiree Shapiro and finally Cinzia Ricci. The group gained a massive amount of momentum following Desiree Shapiro's worldwide hit 'Killer In Disguise' produced by DJ Night himself. Shapiro's career (as well as The Movement's) was looking to take off into massive appeal but within the groups start, they eventually broke up following the failing success of Shapiro's second single, and growing tensions between all four members of the group citing that Desiree thought she could control the group and its direction. All of the groups four members went their own ways, once again, leaving Cinzia at a brick wall in career. Aside from appearing as a replacement for Alicia Lena for a big performance of Close to Tears with Matty, nothing else came for Ricci in the following months. Cinzia soon returned back to her come country of Italy and then Europe and began recording some material without a label, and then flew to the United Kingdom and The United States for some club dates around both countries(hard work right?) in hope of seeking some recognition and hopefully a record deal. That wish eventually was granted when Cynthia Sanchez, head talent scout of Shooting Star Records spotted Cinzia after a great performance at Cherry Pop [A respected gig venue in Hollywood] and eventually the Italian hot prospect was invited to Connecticut for a meeting, and hopefully a signing. Finally in 2011, Cinzia released the full version of her first single Italian Hearted which is a massive dance floor anthem that, at first started off slow in sales but after Cinzia appearing on Music Box and other media outlets, the single finally soared to #2 on the Digital Charts making Italian Hearted an instant hit. Following her "coming out party" with the debut single, Cinzia went on to release a #1 album, which sold over 4 million copies by 2011's end and three #1 hits including "Ride Of A Lifetime", "Christmas In The House", and "The World Is Mine (with Buzz&Hype).
Following the success, Cinzia embarked on a world tour which included openers Isabel, Desiree Shapiro and Sammy Griffin. After the tour finished, Cinzia took out some time to rest, and begin work on her new album. But soon came a new wall that came slamming right in the face of Cinzia, and her fans.
In 2012, Ricci and Alex Van Roy (DJ Cloud) had broken up their business partnership and apparently their personal relationship as well for reason's we still don't know of and questions we hope to be answered in the near future. What many critics want to know is if Cinzia can move on without Roy, and that's where "I Rather Die Alone" comes into play.
"I Rather Die Alone" is the first single off of Cinzia's soon to be titled sophomore album and will be released on August 14th, 2012. From the very start of the track, the beat already is rising. With light synths slipping across the electronic beat, seconds pass and Cinzia's haunting voice comes onto the track. Almost in a possessed manner she sings In My Mind, In My Head |This is where we all came from |The dreams we had, the love we shared |This was what we waited for |And In My Mind, In My Head |The vision we had begin to fade |And our love, turned to hate |Our big monopoly |Trickled down the drain that comes across as her speaking to someone about what they wants had, turned sour. Soon as she finishes saying the line "Trickled down the drain" that track breaks and a stronger backing beat slams onto the track followed by a relentless electronic beat that may take by surprised since the song has such a calming manner to it in the beginning. As the powerful beat begins Cinzia waists no time bringing on very empowering quick paced lyrics in the first opening lines of these lyrics Cinzia murmurs I gave my all |You gave much less|I told my fans I would never be depressed |Never be depressed? From all your stress? |I'm standing here crying | I guess I failed the test getting back to the time where Cinzia told her fans never would she end up being depressed but she simply lets her fans know the truth, she's crying, she's depressed over this person and she failed the test. Continuing on, Cinzia sings quick paced as she brings on her A game with mixing her quick vocals with the slamming beat in behind that just seems to be rising again behind her. The rising gets even harder when Cinzia brings rage to her voice for the lines I don't need this | You don't need me? | I'm stronger than ever
Can't you see?| I don't need a man |To take me higher!|I rather be alone| To show my power!
Think I'll give up?|Because you left me? |Without you or not|I'll be my own team as Cinzia yells out her independence and declares she's fine without anyone by her side. As she says the lines a pounding beat slams relentlessly to the already rising beat mixed with synths and electronic dance bliss. The empowering manner of the song that could possibly have anyone raising their head in fortitude takes new heights as the chorus rages its way to the track after Cinzia says I think I realized| I finally realized | Ah, Ahh-ah-ah-O! The song unleashes itself into a massive electronic house frenzy where a low pitched horn like instrumental booms throughout the chorus and an even harder backing beat moving in unison with the horn. Cinzia belts out in emotion I don't need you (Oh, need you)
Just need the dancefloor (Dancefloor)| I rather be alone (oh!)| Be Alone
I Rather Die Alone (oh!)|Die Alone throughout the chorus and the powerful nature of the chorus and beats may have you stunned and it rails on. Cinzia makes it known that she doesnt need this person, but in turn needs the dancefloor and that she'd rather be alone...or worse... die alone.
As the chorus blasts through the track, it does soon however slow down. Abruptly. It returns back to the beginning In My Head| beginning lyrics as the song does the same building up and Cinzia Ricci returns back to the possessed like vocals. She sings the beginning lyrics before the song does the second break. Instead of bringing on the powerful strand of lyrics like the beginning of the track, instead the echo repeats every word Cinzia says and sounds amazing just listening to the repeating/echos of Cinzia's voice behind a rising beat that sounds ace. The song is rising heavily at this point getting you ready for their special chorus break and out of no where it rages on once again as the chorus instrumental slams onto the track like never before as Cinzia belts out the chorus one more time with the strong and empowering manner of the song soaring like never before until the end of the track where it comes to a scorching end.
Cinzia lets it be known that she doesn't need, or want anyone. The song is empowering, it's positive, it's electronic and it shows a very personal side of the Italian starlet, bringing out very personal lyrics and manner to the first single off her new album but most of all, Cinzia's back not only on Foxxxy's hit single, but on one of her own! Did she do it with a bang? What do you think?
In My Mind, In My Head
This is where we all came from
The dreams we had, the love we shared
This was what we waited for
And In My Mind, In My Head
The vision we had begin to fade
And our love, turned to hate
Our big monopoly
Trickled down the drain
I gave my all
You gave much less
I told my fans
I would never be depressed
Never be depressed? From all your stress?
I'm standing here crying
I guess I failed the test
But now I realized, I really realized
Something that I could never define
I doubted my self
They doubted me more
But now I realized
I was just a toy
I don't need this
You don't need me?
I'm stronger than ever
Can't you see?
I don't need a man
To take me higher!
I rather be alone
To show my power!
Think I'll give up?
Because you left me?
Without you or not
I'll be my own team
I think I realized
I finally realized
Ah, Ahh-ah-ah-O!
I don't need you (Oh, need you)
Just need the dancefloor (Dancefloor)
I rather be alone (oh!)
Be Alone
I Rather Die Alone (oh!)
Die Alone
(2x)
Is this, is this
Is this, is this
Is this, is this
What we waited for?
I don't need you (Oh, need you)
Just need the dancefloor (Dancefloor)
I rather be alone (oh!)
Be Alone
I Rather Die Alone (oh!)
Die Alone
(2x)
In My Mind, In My Head
This is where we all came from
The dreams we had, the love we shared
This was what we waited for
And In My Mind, In My Head
The vision we had begin to fade
And our love, turned to hate
Our big monopoly
Trickled down the drain
I don't need you (Oh, need you)
Just need the dancefloor (Dancefloor)
I rather be alone (oh!)
Be Alone
I Rather Die Alone (oh!)
