Weekend Presents: SYNCO!The World's Biggest Pop Group Form A 'Female Weekend'(L-R; Dustyn, Riley, Billy, Scott & Oscar debate which girls should make the final cut)They've sold millions of records, assaulted charts around the world, have a string of top ten hits, signed to one of the biggest record labels, having high profile relationships, Dustyn Blue played the lead role in the hit sci-fi TV series Echo and most recently; Billy Khan became the winner of one of the biggest reality TV shows on earth; Big Brother and just landed a role in . However, that doesn't seem to be enough for the multicultural and multi-talented Weekend. Their new TV show 'Weekend: The Big Search', which aired consecutively over the weekend that just past, showed the fabulous fivesome travel around the UK and USA in search of five girls who had the looks, talent and attitude to become part of the soon to be huge female counterpart of Weekend, titled 'SYNCO'. The boys travelled all around the UK earlier this year to see thousands of girls audition for them but many weren't up to the high standard and some only arrived just to get a glimpse of the boys. The USA auditions fared better and the five boys all admitted it was tough when it came down to decided who would progress further into the competition. A few months down the line, the auditions and mini interviews with the boys have all been edited and were shown in Episode 1 which aired on Friday to a huge number of viewers. The second and third episodes were only filmed a few days prior to airing and the winning girls had to keep tight lipped for several days as they weren't allowed to spoil the surprise of seeing which girls made it into the band. This episode was aired on Sunday night and again, millions around the world tuned in to see who made it and will now be a member of SYNCO. Who are these girls we hear you ask? They are; 16 year old Jamie Jackson from Bradford who is the only British girl to make it into the band, Layla Sanchez (16) and Alexis 'Alex' Grey (17) who both hail from Miami, Florida. 18 year old Naomi White from Houston, Texas and 19 year old Nicole Wright from San Antonio, Texas complete the line up. (SYNCO [From Left to Right]; Nicole Wright, Jamie Jackson, Naomi White, Alex Grey and Layla Sanchez)We were lucky enough to get a few quotes from the girls this morning as they were heading into the recording studio for this time. Speaking on meeting the boys and what type of judges they were, they girls had this to say; Layla wrote:It was amazing to actually get to meet Weekend. I've loved them since I first heard of them I mean who wouldn't? They're super talented, their songs are extremely catchy and they're super cute (laughs). I use to have a Weekend fan account not long ago but ended up deleting it after getting past the auditions here. Nicole wrote:Yeah it was very cool getting to actually meet the guys in person. They're all really cool and they aren't like these big shot jerks, they're all down to earth and just really cool guys. The boys are like any other guy you'd meet except they're in a boy band and sold a bunch of records (laughs). Naomi wrote:I was really nervous auditioning in front of the guys but they're actually really cool. Dustyn and Riley are really sweet probably the nicest judges that was there and Oscar was actually really nice too! Alex wrote:However, not all 5 of them were really sweet judges. Billy and Scott were no where near as sweet as the others, they were like the tough judges but I really respect that a lot I mean I wouldn't want to be told everything that's good about me I'd like to know what I need to work on as well and they really helped a lot with that. We were also extremely lucky to get an insight as to why some of the girls decided to audition for the show. The youngest girls in the group, Layla and Jamie (both 16), spoke to us a little before being whisked away by security who are extremely strict already. Jamie wrote:The reason I auditioned was cause I really really needed this. It wasn't only for me but my whole family. Our living situation wasn't exactly the best I mean it was me, my mum, my dad, my uncle and his wife, my aunt, my grandparents and my 6 younger cousins so you could see that would be hard. I was hoping to make everything just a little easier when I auditioned and now being here in the group I feel maybe that could actually happen! Layla wrote:As for me, music has always been like, well, my only friend. I didn't have many back at home as most people seen me as weird or odd and music was the only thing that would really take my mind off the things they said plus I really needed this. After my dad passed away things haven't been really easy so maybe this will make things a little easier. I'm really hoping so anyway I mean it's helped me a lot so far. What most people want to know is what the girls think of each other is and what can we expect from them in the coming months. Being compared to Weekend, they have a lot to live up to and must really bring something new to the table if they plan on being on the same level as them. Eldest member, Nicole, said the following; Nicole wrote:Once the group was put together with us 5 we all really clicked. It was a little awkward at first, being put in a group with 4 other strangers but after we got to know each other it was really cool. I mean, we haven't been together an extremely long time but these girls actually feel like 4 sisters to me. It's amazing getting a chance to do something you love with 4 other amazingly talented girls and I think we have what it takes to go far with our talent and different styles I could definitely see us getting up to Weekend status So, Weekend have now created a female variant of the band to help them rule the charts. As the year closes in, could it mean that 2013 will be the year of SYNCO as 2012 was definitely Weekend's year? Well we'll have to wait and see. We would like to know what you think of the girls. Are they just another money making tool for Weekend? Will they be as big or will they receive a negative reception for being another pop band? |
