All I've really been playing recently is Battlefield 3, Football Manager 2011 (I'm in 2016/2017 season, and cannot be bothered to buy the newest one.) and occasionally Minecraft. It all depends on my mood.

become re-addicted to Empire Total war with the darthmod mod... i really do think that Empire and Napoleon total war's are the best two games they have made... After playing Shogun 2 for a year ive decided that it just can't compete! which makes me worry that i wont like Rome 2 when it comes out...

but anyway, also funished all three fable games, assasins creed 1 and 2 AND sleeping dogs... been on a bit of an x-box gaming binge...
I hate it when people see me at the supermarket and they are like:

I've been playing Pro Cycling Manager 2011. With the 2012 data update. God the game is time intensive. I'm only up to the Giro d'Italia, which is in May. Season is between January & October. Madness. Doing it with a created team, got Peter Sagan, Chris Froome, Rui Costa, Chris Anker Sorenson, Jelle Vanendert, Lars Boom, Ben Swift, Jon Tiernan-Locke. About half of my squad are decent to good riders but the other half are cheap youngsters rated between 62 & 54.

So far my team has won the Tour Down Under (Sagan), Tour de San Luis (Sorenson), Vuelta a Mallorca (Sorenson), Volta ao Algarve (Costa), Tour du Haut Var (Sorenson), Clasica de Almeria (Costa), Les Boucles du Sud Ardeche (Sagan), Vuelta a la Region de Murcia (Costa), Tirreno - Adriatico (Costa), Tour of Turkey (Vanendert).

Which sounds a lot but there's been almost 70 events already this season. And only 2 of the ones I've won have been world tour events. Other stand out results for us so far has been 2nd on Paris - Nice, 10th on Milan - San Remo (which is a hellish race, basically 300km long), 5th in Paris - Roubaix, 8th in the Amstel Gold, 4th at La Fleche Wallonne & 9th at Liege Bastogne Liege. So far the only sponsors goals I've failed have been top 3 in Gent - Wevelgem where I didn't manage the top 25 & Top 10 in Ronde van Vlaanderen, another top 25 failure.

Aims left for the season are Top 5 in the Giro d'Italia (unlikely to be honest, although after 4 flat stages & a time trial Lars Boom is 1st, Peter Sagan 2nd, Ed Clancy 3rd, Chris Froome 4th & Rui Costa 7th. But that'll change when we get into the hills in the next stage with a category 2 climb. So that'll probably burst Clancy & Sagan, maybe Boom & Costa too), need to win a stage in the Tour de France (I'm certain I can win a stage with Sagan in a sprint at the very least), Top 10 Clasica San Sebastian, Top 10 Vattenfall Cyclassics & Top 3 Il Lombardia. So that's a decent season quite likely.

I've no idea if this is enough for promotion to the World Tour. If it is, I hope to sign Contador or some other top GC rider.

That 6th stage. d'oh! Ended up losing the stage to a 1 man break by 57 seconds. Sagan won a 5 man sprint for 2nd, but it's enough to give him the pink jersey. Lars Boom was 1st at the start of the day, now he's 21st, 4 minutes 12 behind Sagan. Ouch

Now done the 10th stage. Sagan has won the 9th stage in a straight sprint & then the 10th. Which saw him go on a dramatic late attack to single handedly beat back the breakaway. Literally 10 metres from the finish line he passed Joost Posthuma as his red sprint bar emptied, just having enough in the gas tank to sneak over the line first. But best of all, that gave him a gap of 33 seconds from his nearest GC contender. So now Sagan is still in the Pink Jersey, 2'17" ahead of Ivan Basso, 2'19" ahead of Damiano Cunego, 2'23" over Alejandro Valverde, 3'20" ahead of Marco Pinotti & 3'33" ahead of team mate Chris Froome. But the scary mountain stages don't start until Stage 14, & there are 5 of the buggers in total. Cunego, Basso & Valverde should all be able to make up over 2 minutes in those steep, long climbs. Froome might end up ahead of Peter too. I doubt an actual GC win is possible, but I certainly think we can nab a top 5

Nearly done with XCOM, a few of my regular squad are in psi-training, but nonetheless, here's a motley crew of Earth's finest.

God damn do Grand Tour's take a long time to do. 13 stages in now, 1 more win & 2 more 2nd places for Peter Sagan. It means Sagan has finished in the top 10 on every stage except the first, which was a time trial & so he came 26th as he's not a TT rider. Gap is now nearly 3 minutes on 2nd placed Damiano Cuenego, but I think I'm fucked now. Stages 14 & 15 both feature significant uphill finishes, & so do 19 & 20. While 17 is a downhill finish it is preceded by 2 Category 1 climbs. So yeah, I don't know how Sagan will fare on those huge peaks because we've not had anything more than a Cat 2 to deal with so far.

"In general terms, Category 4 climbs are short and easy. Category 3 climbs last approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), have an average grade of 5 percent, and ascend 150 meters (500 feet). Category 2 climbs are the same length or longer at an 8 percent grade and ascend 500 meters (1,600 feet). Category 1 climbs last 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) with an average 6 percent grade and ascend 1,500 meters. Beyond category climbs include an altitude difference of at least 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) from start to finish and have an average grade of at least 7 percent."

And for anyone interested, http://inrng.com/2012/05/the-spin-giro-stage-14/ contains details on the stage. The final climb is just under 30km, the last 2km are basically flat so IF Sagan can get up then he could well contest a sprint. But I have no idea how it'll go, Sagan isn't even meant to be the team leader for this tour, it should be Froome!

Ended up just simming the last 5 stages when it became clear we couldn't win. Sagan finished 14th, Froome 12th. Sagan won the Under 25s & points competitions though so not all bad.

While the Giro was going on Theo Bos managed to win us the 1 day Scandinavian Race at Uppsala. Coming up in June I'm racing in the Criterium du Dauphine, Pro Race Berlin, Ronte du Sud, Halle Ingooigem & then the daddy of them all stars, the Tour de France. There's also national championships in June for most nations.

I think I'm actually going to get to the end of the season! Only had this save game on the go (admittedly on & off) since February!

Black Ops 2 comes out tomorrow. My boss is queuing up to get it at midnight. He tells me he's going to play it all night and all day tomorrow while I work. No difference there because all he does most days is to play Black Ops 1. On Zombie mode. On that one fucking map. Forever.

Holy fuck.

Got The Walking Dead Episode 5, chose to cut and now I noticed an achievement in the game is "What's In the Bag". I don't think I'm gonna enjoy this at all.

Hope it ends up nothing like this:

I finished Assassin's Creed II finally (over a year since I started it). The ending of that game is a pretty big "what the fuck?" moment, but I was so burnt out at that point by having to replay a mission in one of the DLCs over and over to pass it that my reaction was more like relief.

Started playing Brotherhood, seems fun enough, but it might well be the last Assassin's Creed game I play. I just can't bring myself to care about the universe that much anymore. I miss all the philosophical stuff from the first one that they seem to have just thrown out of a window. Ezio's fine, and I love the whole corrupt Borgia thing (reminds me of The Antipope by Robert Rankin), but I guess I just don't really buy the Assassin's brotherhood thing outside the context of the crusades, Hassan-i Sabbah, Hashshashin, Firdous e Bareen, all that weird stuff. Plus, the controls are still a bit of a pain. Certain times you think you're going to make a jump easily, but instead of jumping straight off the roof, he goes off at 45 degrees and plunges to his death, or you try to climb a box, and as soon as he reaches the top he jumps off the side and lands on a civilian carrying boxes and suddenly a hundred guards are bearing down on you. Or you stab a dude ten seconds after a mission starts and then fail the mission, but the second time you stab him with the same timing, same place, no difference, spotted somehow, by a guard you can't see. Repeat ad infinitum.
