"Daddy! Miss. Nina! Daddy! Miss. Nina!" Virginia screams as she runs into the living room after the school bus has dropped her off. "I got a dog! It's name is Mittens!" She calls, setting the tiny puppy she has in her hands down on the carpet, which it immediately pees on.

Nina looks up from her copy of "modern punk rock wife quarterly" at her boisterous daughter and the dog that just doubled as a fire truck. "Oh,so you do,love." She tries to hide he distaste for dogs,then she remembers every PSA she's seen involving creeps in white vans. " where did you get ?!" She panics,looking for her car keys. |

"Gigi, Gigi, calm down, sweetie..." Castor says, wrapping his arms around her and holding her close while the puppy jumps around, wondering why Virginia was suddenly not petting him anymore. "Let's just talk about this for a second... Do you think you can take care of a puppy?"
"Yes!" Virginia squeals through her tears.
"What kind of food do puppies eat?"
"Doggie food!"
"... Close enough. When would you take him for walks?"
"After school..."
"And would you brush him and wash him?"
She nods.
Castor looks up at Nina and shrugs.
