Title/Length: Taste of Perfection (3:45)Genre: R&BRecorded: 2012Label: Independent ReleaseReleased: November 26th, 2012Format: Digital Download/AirplayWritten by: Sonyaé JohnsonProduced by: Layla Raine, Sonyaé JohnsonBackground InfoIf you're unfamiliar with this young artist, then now is the time to get to know her. Sonyaé is an American singer-songwriter who have been perfecting her skills in creating music singe she was the age of 12. Lately, however, she's been gaining quite a lot of attention and have recently been celebrating more exposure after she was featured on a Q&A (Question and Answer) on the legendary magazine 'Culture Uncut'. Although she's been trying to make an impact in music for a while now, fortunate enough, she's only now starting to gain recognition. As the journey of 2012 is coming to an end, and the next year is just around the corner; it seems as though 2013 will be the 'Year of R&B'. This year, Pop/Dance music has been arguably the dominant genre throughout 2012. However, it looks as if the tide is turning as new R&B acts have sprung up and are taking over, such as Aubrey Mikkel, Mercedes Payne, Kato, J'Marie, and more. Not to mention, Cassie Valentine, whom is often viewed as 'established' already, have made an impressive comeback. Now, Sonyaé has arrived on the scene to join the 'R&B Reign' campaign, and she's not holding back at all. Not even on a promotional record. The next step for Sonyaé is to release her second promotional single next month, and after that, she'll debut her first official single in January of next year.
Sonyaé have been writing for her debut album for a while now, and she has scrapped the material for the album several times.
Track Info'Taste of Perfection' is the first promotional/buzz single by the 24-year-old American singer-songwriter Sonyaé. The song is taken off of her soon-to-be titled debut album that's set for an early release in 2013, and was written by Sonyaé herself. For the production/sound of the song, she teamed up with the famous blogger/producer/manager Layla Raine to create a creative, sensual, and distinctive sound. The track first starts out with the instrumental playing for about 12 seconds, before Sonyaé begins singing the first verse of the track. After she finishes singing
|"I want it all off, all off tonight|Going to be you and, you and I|Long stares in eachother's eyes|We're gonna make this, make this, climax rise"|, the synth really kicks in and she ends the first verse of the song in a sensual, yet powerful way. As she gets into the chorus of the song, you can tell that it's the most catchy part of the song as she sings
|"Because this is the complete confection|And long time you've been my selection|Feeling a certain affectionate connection"|. Right after those lines, she sings
"looking to have a taste of perfection". When she sung on and ended the chorus, the instrumental is heard once again, and after 10 seconds, once again, the synth kicks in and she begins singing
|"We gon' fight, and will ignite|And reach the surface of the sky|Despite it all, we'll be alright|We'll shine like the stars of the night"|, yet another catchy and sensual tune. After she ends the second verse, and begins and ends the chorus for the second time, she quickly gets into the third verse singing
|"Don't stop pouring until my cup overflows|Want you to hold me tight and never let go"|. Right after that, she sung a cleverly put together simile/phrase, singing
"Take me away, and blow my mind like a grenade", before ending that verse and singing the chorus for the final time in a more of a higher-pitch tone, before that ends and the song ends.
Purchase On:Sounds Like:
I want it all off, all off tonight
Going to be you and, you and I
Long stares in eachother's eyes
We're gonna make this, make this, climax rise
Take it to another level and show you off
Make you feel like your problem's solved
Just for the night, more than enough
Ignite it, don't fight it, diamond in the rough
Because this is the complete confection
And long time you've been my selection
Feeling a certain affectionate connection
Tonight I'm looking to have a taste of perfection
I look right through you, there's an inverse too
Not great in algebra, but two ones equals two
We're going to solve it all, make a few corrections
So fill my cup, want a little taste of perfectionWe gon' fight, and will ignite
And reach the surface of the sky
Despite it all, we'll be alright
We'll shine like the stars of the night
Light it up, come on and overflow my cup
You know I've been waiting for a show
And tonight, is the night
That I'll be sipping on perfection
Because this is the complete confection
And long time you've been my selection
Feeling a certain affectionate connection
Tonight I'm looking to have a taste of perfection
I look right through you, there's an inverse too
Not great in algebra, but two ones equals two
We're going to solve it all, make a few corrections
So fill my cup, want a little taste of perfectionDon't stop pouring until my cup overflows
Want you to hold me tight and never let go
Take me away, and blow my mind like a grenade
Be my shade and protect me from the sun's ray
Want a taste of perfection, want a taste of perfection
Hook me to your love, carry me to complete the confection
A taste of perfection, a sip of your perfection
Long time you've been my selection
Because this is the complete confection
And long time you've been my selection
Feeling a certain affectionate connection
Tonight I'm looking to have a taste of perfection
I look right through you, there's an inverse too
Not great in algebra, but two ones equals two
We're going to solve it all, make a few corrections
So fill my cup, want a little taste of perfection
