Dancing By Myself (Sounds Like: Bruno Mars- Locked Out of Heaven) Daniel's third studio album, "XXX Party", is set to be released on January 27, 2013 through North Hill Records. Unlike the previous two albums "Antisocial" and "The X Bond"; this particular LP seeks a more mainstream appeal sound and approach. However, the album still contains a wide range of influences from the first two albums, such as trippy psychedelic sounds and the use of experimental instruments. The album's wide template of genres consist of "Indie-pop, Hip-hop, Rap, Trip-hop, Trance, Dream House, Neo-psychedelia, Electro-Pop, Psychedelic Pop, Synth-pop, Dance Rock, and Indietronica". Daniel likes to describe the album as a "pop music party gone wrong". The album's title was inspired by the album's sound atmosphere and persona. The use of "X's" however, has been a constant theme throughout Daniel's discography and has been left unexplained. Many critics and fans believe the X's represent words or phrases that are blocked from human understanding. » Photography for the album cover and booklet took place on December 3rd through the lenses of famous photographer 'Yu Tsai': "I've worked with Daniel before on the 'Aliens', and 'Off To Eris' song single covers and It was absolute pleasure to re-unite and work with Daniel again to help his artistic visions come alive for this particular album. Daniel is one crazy monkey when it comes to his work and that's what attracted me to be honest. I don't like working with normal people, because that's boring. With this album Daniel wanted a more simple look, which is a first. But you never know what you might expect when it comes to Daniel". - Yu Tsai"I wanted the whole album to have a party atmosphere, but it was important for me to step outside the box a little bit when it came to the imagery. I've work very closely with Yu Tsai before and he understood very well by what I meant with "stepping outside the box". Simplicity speaks louder because there is no hidden message, and that's what I was looking for" - Daniel » Writing for the album began as early as September 2011. During this process, Daniel decided to become more private from the public eye, eventually fading away from the music industry. Eventually after the recording contract and presidency with Junction Records finished, Daniel was able to focus even further on his own material. Writing took place in many locations as there was no limit or set time to write the whole record. "I honestly did feel like I was restricted from a lot of things being in the public eye. I think I became insecure of my own abilities being around so many talented people, I almost felt like everything I wrote or recorded was not good enough. It was really frustrating trying to develop the concept of my next album because I honestly didn't know shit on what else to do. I think that sort of thing happens to musicians who develop their own concepts. I never hired a producer to provide the vision for me for any of my albums, so it take a bit longer for me to finish things. But after a lot of thinking I realized that my life needed something else. Instead of focusing on all the serious shit, I figured that my life at this point should feel more like a celebration rather than a funeral and that's honestly how the whole party concept came together. I hate to be called a sell out, but I feel like our approach towards music has evolved a bit. I figured that eventually the writing bug would hit me and it did, so I wrote tons of songs throughout the months that went by. Still I was very quiet and private about my life, but next thing you know I had nearly like 50 songs written. Many of them left unfinished, but all of these were 50 individual songs that were begging for a recording session. So I sat down and started recording each song one by and one, finishing off the lyrics to some of them at the same time. It was such a long tedious process but eventually it all came together. I mean that's part of life that was very unexpected but it was obvious that an album was coming together without me knowing it. My only next step was to become known again and obviously I was able to get that back, but it's not until recently that I became active on twitter and started being more sociable again. I realized and I think it's important that I don't lose touch with my supporters and that's why I'm so ready to release this new album and give my fans the material they've been waiting for"- Daniel » Production for the album began immediately after all the songs were written. While most of the song on the album lyrically speak about love, sex, and random concepts that reflect fantasy and imaginary life experiences through a stoner-like mentality, sonically the whole album sticks together like the journey through a listening party of "pop music gone wrong". This idea refers to the alternative touch Daniel has always puts on his music in comparison to pop contemporaries; adding sounds that are more than likely not be heard on radio or have mainstream appeal. However, unlike previous albums most of the songs on "XXX Party" contain a polished finish that is more admirable to pop music listeners. As a producer, Daniel has always been a sound board artist and that didn't change one bit for the production phase of this album. Daniel spent 80 percent of the time on the sound board to create most of the electronic sounds on the this particular album. Daniel grew inspirations from artists such as MGMT, Gina X Performance, Kid Kudi, M.I.A, Kanye West and Brian Eno. Daniel also put emphasis on keyboard synthesizers for some of the songs, reflecting some of his work on his debut album "Antisocial". Still, the production focused and emphasized on the song's melody and hooks, which is something Daniel avoid doing on previous albums. Each song is made to capture the listeners attention with catchy lyrics and beats. Still, as every album should have, there is that one "serious" song on the album, but in this case, it is anything but serious in comparison to a typical serious song on any of Daniel's previous albums. "If you hear my album you will see the diversity but you will feel the unity, which is something I always wanted to create with all my albums. There's a good vibe with each song and you kind of get a whole new experience as you finish each track. My goal is to make it in such a way that the fans can listen to it and not skip one track. In some ways, I do plan to make more music along the process of releasing this album, because there's still so very much in me that I have to let go, but maybe I can do that unexpectedly while releasing this album" - Daniel Edited by user 12 January 2013 00:08:38(UTC)
