The Crossroads World Tour is the first major headlining world tour by American rock band ‘Riot! In The Boulevard’. The tour is in support of their latest album ‘Crossroads’ which was released in November 2012 and following a run of concerts on the No Venues tour through November and December 2012 with the likes of Reported Failure, Lily and James Urie, they will embark on their first headlining worldwide trek which is set to span over 5 legs from the end of January 2013 throughout the year until September 2013 with the occasional break in-between each leg of the tour in order to keep the band fresh and energetic which was a major decision for them upon committing to the tour.
The tour will begin with a 33 date North American leg, starting off in Canada before moving into the States throughout February and March and ending with a three-night run of performances at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the band’s hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. After a week break the tour will re-convene with the Asia & Oceania leg for 8 shows in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan before taking a three week break before heading to Europe for the European leg of the tour through May and June where it will end with a massive number of UK shows due to the bands stature in Britain and it will close with a four night run of shows at the O2 Arena in London, England.
Seven dates in South America will follow in July before the band take almost a whole month from touring before returning to the United States once again for the final leg of the tour which will end with a three-night run of performances at Madison Square Garden in New York City and a three-night run of homecoming performances at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada to end the tour.
The band have stated that they hope to include a number of Festival Performances into the tour Itinery when details of which festivals will be returning in the New Year. They have also stated that the majority of the shows on the tour will be recorded however they did state that it’s unlikely that they’ll be released in the same way that their Field Trip Festival performance from last year was.
They were asked at a press conference what the standard setlist would be likely to include but the band remained tight lipped, stating that the setlist wouldn’t remain the same and that they prefer each show to have its own uniqueness which means changing the setlist and running order of songs on a regular basis. They said that they’d expect the majority of concerts to have a 20+ song setlist due to the wealth of material that they have to work off of and have also stated that there will be lots of surprises in store for those that come out to the shows.
Riot! were heavily involved in the process of creating this gigantic world tour from all details including pricing. Tickets are to go on sale on December 27, 2012 and are some of the cheapest tickets for a mainstream act with a standard seating or standing ticket costing no more than $20 while a VIP ticket which most acts charge close to $200 which includes a meet and greet as well as signed merchandise will available for only $45. During the press conference for the tour announcement Amy stated,
“We’re aware that money is tough to come by for a lot of people these days and our fanbase is still relatively young so we wanted to make it extremely accessible for our fans to be able to afford to see us perform live. We have a close bond with our fanbase and we want to be able to give them a Riot! In The Boulevard concert without spending crazy amounts of money on tickets.
We also decided to make the VIP tickets as cheap as we could because it shouldn’t just be those few that can afford them to get all of these gifts and memories. We don’t consider ourselves to be any different to our fans and the opportunity to hang out with a bunch of fans before a show and after a show is a great thing for us, I don’t see why we should charge massive amounts of money for something that we ourselves would enjoy just as much as our fans would, I think it’s a great thing to be able to do.”TOUR DATESNorth America [Leg #1]January 26, 2013 – Rogers Centre – Toronto, Canada
