Fischer takes time after the sold out show at Polson Pier in Toronto to mug with fans.

In Toronto, when you mention Acts of Hate, you better be sure you're saying something positive. Toronto is their hometown, and obviously home to their largest fanbase. The Sound Academy at Polson pier can seat 2600 people, and tonight, it was packed to the brim. I arrived pretty late (as I squeezed my way to the front of the crowd, opener Karoliena Verlinden was just finishing up) and upon getting to the venue it was easy to see that there was a huge crowd of people congregated at the entrance of the venue hoping to hear at least some of AoH's set. The show rocked (metal author's note: AoH is notorious for their circle pit and wall of death friendly riffage) and after the show I caught up with frontman Sam Fischer.

So you're touring with Erich Hess again, that's not surprise, but Ada Von W.? How's that working out?

Well, we're fans of Ada's music and she's a close friend to the band, so it was only natural that she would join us. The crowd has been treating her great, I mean, they're not gonna complain about a hot german chick.

No clashing because of different styles?

I'd like to think that AoH fans are open-minded enough to enjoy music other than metal. If they can't that's their problem, I guess. I mean, on my Ipod I have Anal Cunt and Misery Index and Deicide, but I also have Vile Hour. If you're some kind of metal elitist then you can go fuck off.

Speaking of Vile Hour, word on the street (guilty author's note: yes, people still say 'word on the street') is that you and Nichole Shade are an item now.

*laughs* yeah, I'm kind of in love with her. I'm just not looking forward to her leaving the tour.

She posted on twitter that you're expecting. How do you feel about that?

Well, I never thought I'd be ready for anything like this to happen. I mean, I'm still not, but I think that stuff like this you can never be ready for. I'm totally stoked about becoming a dad, though.

You're in love, you're gonna be a dad, is there any chance that we're going to see a softer, gentler side of Acts of Hate?

*laughs* you want to see 'softer and gentler'? okay, let me just say this. I've been writing lyrics non stop almost since the album dropped, and we're only gonna get more brutal.

There are numerous bootlegs and videos of you guys performing new songs on youtube. I've read some of the lyrics - well, I'm just assuming that the internet people who figure out lyrics are right - and I'm noticing a lot of changes. What's that about?

I'm older, I'm wiser, and after making Unholy Creation I'm basically done with the christ bashing from now on. I mean, sure, the lyrics are still gonna include my beliefs, but last album I was writing songs with the intention of pissing off as many christians as possible. That was the prevailing theme. As far as the new material goes, I'm drawing from some of my favorite band's lyrics - Cannibal Corpse, Autopsy, Dying Fetus - and a lot of the lyrics are about regular, every day fucked up shit. I'd like to think it's the musical equivalent to a Stephen King short story, twisted, dark, and haunting.

Well, thanks for taking time for this interview man. Anything else you want to say before I go?

Yeah - Tony Sammartino is a fucking idiot for getting married, and I am Nichole Shade's baby daddy.

Fair enough.

and yet again, our foray into the world of metal ends here.

Sam: Yeah. I mean, we all know Bon Jovi sucks. You don't bring Cannibal Corpse into arguments.

ooc: i like manson's old stuff better, but after reading the long hard road out of hell and then hearing about how he's changed since that era, i think it's for the better. not necessarily music wise, but for him as a person. i guess it's like ozzy fans. they know that his new album is crap, but they still buy it and listen to it, just because they love him. same for limp bizkit, 3 dollar bill is one of the albums that got me through the ninth grade without shooting up my school, so it's hard for me to hate them, even though i've since moved on to more...er, mature forms of music.

ooc:was it new then? if so,you arent as young as i thought.i loved that book.it was so crazy, especially when i can go to most of the places he talked about it.i imagine mr warner had to make a change,he'd be dead now if he didnt. i saved all my old shirts from high school, and my daughter wears them now. i never thought of that when i bough them!

ooc: no, by the time i was in ninth grade, limp bizkit had already lost the angst that made 3 dollar bill the most "angry white boy in highschool friendly" album around. a gentleman never reveals his age...wait, is that even a saying? i don't even know anymore. i'm definitely younger than you, though. you're like my internet wise man, mr. hess.
