Monday December 17th - 21:30:25

This was the night that Scott had been dreading for the last week or so since the reality had come true about what happened with Gia after the accident. He was managing to supress his depression reasonably well most of the time, spending the day times with his family and seeking solace in the bottle at night when he was on his own. For the past few nights, he had even been sharing a bed with Gia, but he had been sneaking away when she was asleep, sitting alone in the living room and searching for answers at the bottom of a whisky bottle. Most of the time he managed to smile, to make it seem like he was holding up, but he could not paint on the smile 24 hours a day.

Scott was now sat in the living room alone. It had been an hour or so since he and Gia had gone to bed, and 45 minutes ago, he had left the room to begin drinking and drowning his sorrows once again. Tonight it was different though. Today, Scott and Gia had been married for a full year, but it broke his heart that she had absolutely no clue about this at all. He sat here for the last while downing shot after shot, the tears streaming down his face silently on what should have been a day of celebration and happiness for a day when he had finally tied the knot with the girl of his dreams.

On his knees lay a heavy leather bound book. It was open at the middle, the photo on show seeing Scott and Gia stood on a grassy area, Scott in his tux, she in a beautiful white dress. Between the two was there, at the time new born daughter Sophie, and they both had the widest smiles on their faces. How different it was now. How Scott longed for those smiles. All that came now though, every time he looked at a picture like this one from their wedding, was an immense sadness and despair. Another tear fell and splashed on the photo as Scott sunk another whisky, sobbing to himself.

Feeling a bit bitter, Scott raised the glass to his mouth and drained it before putting it down hard on the table with a loud clink. He up ends the bottle again and fills the glass before downing the contents in one, before he bursts into tears again. He turns the page to see a picture of himself and Gia in their wedding attire, locked in a kiss, the smiles that suggest everlasting love etched across the faces of them both. The pain of knowing that all of that love had been knocked out of Gia by the accident hits him hard in the chest and he chokes a little as his tears and sobs fight to escape his throat, his now drunken manner doing little to help.

Just then, he hears a noise behind him, and then Gia speaks. A feeling of dread hits him. He had decided not to tell her what day it was so as not to upset her, and he didn't want to show her the pictures in case it meant nothing. Those pictures were still one of the most important things he had. Something to hang onto. He slammed the book shut when she spoke and looked up at her, quickly wiping his eyes and trying to hide the bottle.

"Oh...hi...I couldn't sleep," he said softly.

Scott felt a little sadness creep into his chest. He didn't want to upset Gia. It was the last thing he had wanted, which was why he had hidden his own sadness from her for the last while. But now he knew that he had been caught, even with the whiskys starting to take effect a little. He looked down at the book in front of him and gripped onto it a little tighter.

Scott shook his head. "Oh...its...its nothing too important really. Just wanted to do some reading," he said in a soft and quiet voice that was quite unconvincing.

Scott gulped as he tried to keep the tears back now. He didn't like people seeing him cry. Not even Gia. He thinks for a few minutes before he nods slowly.

"Sorry...yeah...its...its pictures of us and some of us and Sophie," he says quietly and slowly.

Scott shakes his head a little and then sighs and closes his eyes when she massages his shoulders. After a few minutes he pats the seat on the sofa next to him and looks up at her.

"Come sit with me."

Scott sat and looked at Gia. He sighed a little and wiped his eyes before looking up at her again and blinking. He nods a little and hesitates for a moment before he hands her the book slowly.

Scott nods a little and fights back the tears. "Yeah...that was..that was our wedding. It was one of the happiest days of my entire life Gia."

Scott sits quiet for a while. He then sighs and rubs his face. "I was just looking at it because...well I was sad about it because..." He shakes his head slightly and turns to the front page which reads in beautiful gold writing:

"The wedding of Mr & Mrs Scott & Gia Rose-Hilton
December 17th 2011."

He nods when he points to it.

Scott looks up at her. "Yeah...I'm sorry. I just started thinking about it and I just felt sad and upset for you as well. I wish you could feel what I feel for you. I love you more than you could believe. I really do."" He nods a little. "What would you want to do?"

Scott smiles a little. He stands up. "I...I got you a gift anyway. It wasn't romantic but it was something that I think means something g to you even in the things you remember now."

He goes into the cupboard and brings out a frame with a Beatles gold disc in it. Alongside is sheet music signed by all four members.of the famous band.

"Its for the wall in your studio," he smiles. "I'm sorry....I thought you'd like it maybe."
