CHANEL HIT RECORD + REVEALS NEW ALBUM TITLE + ' VOCAL BIBLE' POSITION IN R&B The R&B princess that back in 2011 build a strong name for yourself for making romantic and vocally strong ballads that has the world of music wanting more from this Chicago native, when her story of growing up around musicians and her father owning severel jazz/soul clubs around New York graced the faces of people from Tric Jam Records and her strong, wide ranged vocal skill and power in her chest and head voices, ranging from influences Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey showed the strength, passion and soul in Chanel's voice was the reason Tric Jam made this girl their number one signing back in 2011. Almost quarter out of her contact, Chanel released her first album, " Born into Music" that barely sold 500,000. " It wasn't a failure, it was a eye opener for me that I wasn't doing something I was so passioned about.." Singles like ' Last Tear' was the highlight for what Chanel can archieve vocally in such powerful ballads. " I use to sing when I was growing up. My mom devoloped my voice because her grandmother was a singer, I mean SANGER! Girl can blow and her mother was a singer, she had PIPES baby, can blow for hours and never get tired, she was a true vocalist and that's what I wanted to be.." Is that why maybe Chanel Devine is trying to take the beginning role as ' vocal bible' for this era of her music? " Oh yes, people think I'm going turning into a diva or whatever you want to call me, not I'm simply calling this era the vocal bible because like an God's bible, you learn about life, how the learn right, my vocal bible, it's my guide, my rules and my vocals on how I will become the next icon.. it's been my dreams and it's my passion to take over what needs to be taken over.. no matter what people say, I want to be pronounced one day as the vocal bible because my voice has taken over...." The big voice but yet very self proclaimed artist released her first return record since her disappence back late 2011's, after her album release.
" Why did you take a break..?" (Culture Uncut question) " I had to really re-think myself, my music and my goals. I didn't want to become lost in my music because when you become lost, you really dont think what you are in this industry to do period. I knew I had an goal. I didnt want to pretend anymore, I knew what I was greater at doing, my potential was huge. I had to capture it and really mold it myself so it can grow... not lavish.. into something I wish I didn't do.. like my debut album."
Is that the reason her new album is titled " Unpretentious"?
" This album is one of the kind. I named it this because if you look at the definition.. it's means Not attempting to impress others with an appearance of greater importance, talent, or culture than is actually possessed." This album is not pretending anymore, I want people to know, myself, my fans know that I have a voice, talent and vision that is huge, what I want to archieve is a big dream. I dont want to impress others on what they think will work best for me or my music. I want to go deeply into myself on this album and know that the greater impact of myself is there, vocally too, that's why I'm calling this the vocal bible, because I'm opening places that I never wanted to be. I have already taken what I have did, I already archieved the beginning stages of winning people's hearts over good music and my music, the way I WANT too.. so Unpretentious is the album that will force the reality of what I want to build.. an music empire that R&B had never seen. this gal got biggg dreams homie!"
Her latest record, Holding is Lost made an impressive debut on the airplay charts, debuting at #3, following the tops from music's heavyweights like Pixie and Stat Nerds. Her digital performance was just as impressive, rounding up to over 216,000 downloads in a single week of release, at #6, beating some of music's hottest stars. Her vibe and smooth Christmas single, " Best of Me" made the charts at #9, along with Stat Nerds, Stephanie Fierce and Daniel. " I think it's a blessing to really have people enjoy something you love so much... I'm truthly blessed.."
When can we expect the album? Chanel said she doesnt want to rush the process of making an album she wants to be one of the beginning highlights of her career. " I wan this to be timeless, that bang album everyone needs in 2013. I want to be that album everyone has to go get because it's so timeless... and soo... Chanel. Love it for what it is.."
Later today, we will reveal the Holding is Lost music video that Chanel sent over, the video will have you in tears by the end of it, sadly... but the remarkable vision of the video is something that Culture Uncut is excited about sharing to her heartbreakers. Chanel will also be performing at the Dick Clark's New Years Rocking when she will be premiering her new single, " Raising Hell & Amazing Grace" she is co-hosting with the queen of pop, Stephanie Fierce. Holding is Lost is still avaliable on digital and airplay, request on your local radios and download this banger for all R&B lovers.
