"oh,you'll just love her!" randy says with the oblviousness that parents have to their children being utterly unlikable. "jane! come down and meet erich's wife."

seconds later,jane is in the room,looking rather miffed." yes dad?"

randy smiles and gestures with his cigarette. "this is ada,erich's wife. she is wonderful,simply wonderful." randy says with a pleased smile.

erich bristles slightly at his friends being called skanks. "erica and karoliena are nice. " he says neutrally.

"thats my daughter,always on that blasted phone. doesnt she know that anyone can listen in on those things? face to face is the only way to do things." randy says with a nod. clearly the inspiration for erich's distaste for using phones.
