(Return If Possible) 10 Wake Up Call COMMENTS: LAURENCE "The new album feels like a light version of our previous album 'Rebellion' which had a lot of heavy Dance beats that didn't let us explore our sound as much as we have done with this one. I mean, this time we also have proper ballads, cool mid-tempo songs and so on. It's more various. Also we may have moved a bit into a more Trance Pop field, but we still have our feet on the electronic one. 'Neon Lights' has also been the album that took longer to be recorded since we spent about five or six months writing and recording it. We usually only spend about two or three months for an album and I think this time it took longer because we wrote it and produced it all by ourselves." MARTINA "'Neon Lights' is surely what our fans want from us and more. Every song is different from each other but the sound is still cohesive and it is better than ever now. I cannot say we have found the sound that we will use forever because we will always move forward to new and other genres, but this one we have now suits everything Teen Titans are about. It gives us the freedom we need to share our feelings and our messages in the songs and we all appreciate it. I love each single track on the album, but 'Want Nobody But You' is my favourite since is the one I produced and wrote by myself and it is very important to me, not only because it is the first song that I have ever produced, but also because it has a special meaning." TANYA "The album is cool. It's just better than our other albums and people will surely notice that. Our voices have also all got better and there are some songs where I belt out like never before, but I'm not the only one." DEN "I'm so glad we are finally releasing this as we worked on it for like so long and we really made our best. Every track sounds so great and they all have a common theme which is the night and all things related to it. You know, there is a song that makes a comparison of the loss of a loved person with the ending of the day like 'R.I.P.' or another song about dancing with your eyes closed like 'Hypnotic Dance', which makes you think of darkness and so still to something related to the night. Darkness is also a theme that often appears in the album and even some beats get quite dark at some points." JOEY "This album is amazing and our best for sure. We worked much harder on it and ya can also hear how our voices, the sound and everything else got all better. We wanted to give it all this time so we decided to take a longer time to work on it and do it all by ourselves, which makes it the ultimate Teen Titans' album." The sun goes down Little lights get into the blue All I think about is me and you The way I feel, the way I'll be And everything in between Tonight CHORUS The intro ends with both saying the word 'Tonight' together and as the echo is heard, the beat gets intense with all the instruments of the song. After a short instrumental, the song goes straight to the first chorus, where the same instruments keep playing the same melody and with the Titans' vocals the song gets an even more cheerful sound. In the darkest time, the wildest crime Is to close your heart, you gotta be smart Close your eyes instead and just pretend To live your dreams, take it to the extremes I thought you knew that wishes come true Under the stars, under the stars VERSE #1 At the end of the chrous, some pads and some arps leave the instruments, but the instrumentation gains the claps for the drums while Joey sings the first verse slowly and a bit loudly too. Lost in the sun, lost in the light When it's all clear You can see how much it's all real Hopes begin to fall, you don't need this at all VERSE #2 With the new verse, only a subtle arp is added to the instruments to increase a bit the intensity of the song, while Tanya sings louder and with more passion. I know you like the truth I like it too But living a life without a dream will make you scream So now let's escape this reality You can come with me CHORUS Tanya's last high note leads into another chorus, which is repeated in the same way. In the darkest time, the wildest crime Is to close your heart, you gotta be smart Close your eyes instead and just pretend To live your dreams, take it to the extremes I thought you knew that wishes come true Under the stars, under the stars BRIDGE After the chorus, the melody slightly changes for the bridge, which is a more rhythmic version of the intro and is sung by Laurence. The sun goes down, down The stars come out It's about me and you This way I feel, what I wanna feel All I'm gonna do Tonight, tonight CHORUS As Laurence sings the last word, the songs goes straight to the last chorus. In the darkest time, the wildest crime Is to close your heart, you gotta be smart Close your eyes instead and just pretend To live your dreams, take it to the extremes I thought you knew that wishes come true Under the stars, under the stars ENDING The last line of the chorus is repeated a few times while the beat behind keeps going strong until a long reversed cymbal leads the song to an end with a final impact. SOUNDS LIKE: COMMENTARY: Den: I think 'Under The Stars' is the best intro we could give to the album. It basically describes the album! It's also quite catchy. Joey: Yeah, it's freaking amazing! Laurence: It's also one of the last tracks we recorded so you can hear that we finally had a direction for the album when recording this. Den: And it's also the one that gave the theme to the album, which was actually going to be called 'The Stars' or something like that. But we then chose 'Neon Lights' instead at the end! When it starts loud after the intro is pure amazingness. Den: And I remember being really excited when we released this as the lead single after the long summer break and the fact that people liked the song making it a hit was amazing. Tanya: Especially with the song being different from what we used to do. Martina: Yes, this is the first Trance song we made, so it was so different. Den: And the video we made for this song is quite amazing too! I have a feeling this 'Neon Lights' era is going to be filled with all great videos that suit the songs amazingly. VERSE #1 As the beat gets more intense, the first verse sang by Den in a low and edgy tone begins. When we're near, we have no fear If you're here, if I'm here It gets all clear Even in the dark, when we make the spark VERSE #2 When Den ends his verse, another one begins while the beat in the background keeps the same musicality. The second verse is sang by Laurence who almost sings in the same tone as Den but his voice sounds huskier. VERSE #1 When a subtle pad and a few synths join the instruments too, Martina sings the first verse with her soft and smooth voice in a slow way, fitting with the percussion. With my heart I can see What you feel for me You can't hide What you want to be So when I cried When my pain was wide Why weren't you By my side PRE-CHORUS At the end of the verse the percussion stops and only the flute and the few synths can be heard playing, while Laurence and Joey sing almost speaking their lines of the pre-chorus in their low and different tones.
